Same happened to me after a month of jb update what I found is the only thing that I'll bring back charging to normal is ics if the problem is really annoying then install ics Rom that I'll solve your problem

Try a different cable, same thing was happening to me a couple of months back. Turned out to be the cable.

Yea that's the only thing that solved my charging woes...before that I had tried all the tricks ie removing battery for 10 sec.., rebooting , changing Rom ,kernels after super wipe but nothing worked but for ics.

Even I changed the cable and chargers everything would solve the problem for couple of days then again back to square one...one peculiar thing was there was no knowing when it used to charge and when it used to stop there was no pattern to it...

Dude, i have the same problem as you. When my phone is plugged in, it takes forever to charge it and if i am using it when charging it will quickly discharge. Really annoying.
Slow charging
I think i have the same problem.
when i charge my phone over night, the battery is in the morning only 40-50%
I tried my old htc desire charger and the normal s3 charger, but it does not make any difference.
What can be the problem? my charger, battery or my phone itself?
FYI, I did a Kies update and that fixed my battery problem. Try it. It may work for you to.
it happened to me too
what I did was u changed my USB cable
it solved my problem
try this

a different good quality cable will solve the problem. I had a slow charging issue .changed to a Nokia sync cable .nd voila charges in the required speed

yes.. i guess whoever is encountering problem should try using the original cable and see if solve the problem.. mine does.. no choice..

Use Original Samsung cable or Nokia cable - that fixes most charging problems.
3rd party cables give a lot of problems...
Galaxy S3 Charging problem-disappointing and annoying
Dear All......HELP !!!
I bought a new S3 and i loved it.....everything was perfect...it was on ICS>
Now i have this problem since few weeks back....suddenly my S3 will not charge....sometimes only 3 to 4 % up whole night....very very slow.
Even the LED light is dim when charging.....
ALSO ...sometimes it is not charging then i unplug the cable from cell phone put it back.....its charges but after a few seconds it stops charging....worse when i connec to PC.
I tried twisting the cable....first i tought some problem in the connection point of cable to my phone....i changed cable nothing.....
is it hardware issue of my phone where it connects to charging cable or is it Jelly bean????
im really disappointed that how come a new phone (only 1.5 months old) can have this problem.....
PLEASE HELP ME.....I CANNOT CHARGE MY MOBILE.......from wall or USB....im starting to hate samsung ...although i used Galaxy S Plus...and loved it.....
Also my screen is less bright and yellowish than my wifes S3. i mean the white is not white is yellowish white (off white color)
Thanks please help
Most likely the Samsung charger, many faults reported.
S1/S2/ BlackBerry and many others work on the S3
Can anyone tell me what may be the problem. My battery is constantly draining all of a sudden even when charging(usb). I run AOKP JB but this has never been an issue before when running this rom. I reverted back to factory and its still draining. Phone is also very hot while on charger.
Edit:
Just pulled the battery at 49% and put it back in. Now it reads 24%
Battery may be goin bad. Usb cord may be bad. Micro usb port of ur phone may be bad, dirty etc. So trouble shoot it.
Does the wall charger charge ur phone ? Does another battery (same kind that is) charge or not charge ? Does that usb charge another phone ? Try a different cord. . . Etc. Etc.
Keep us posted.

Its a combination of loose port and loose connector in the cable. Replace cable for temporary cure.

Or a kernel or config problem.
Download and flash again.
Try other ROM.
I already have this issue. Changing kernel did the job for me.

I changed kernels a lot and it never fixed it. Changing the cable did for me at.least.
I been having.the charging.paused.voltage to high error recently that is getting very annoying.

I had this problem recently as well. I thought my battery was going but that wasn't the problem. So I ended up buying a new micro USB cable and it fixed the battery draining for sure.

R u using a non samsung wall charger ?? If yes...then the Output voltage/amps may be more than 5.0V === 0.7A, which would trigger the error message.

Standard Samsung wall charger. I have an app that reads charge current and its always around 640 - 650mA.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
Wow. Turns out that it was just the cable. Replaced it and all is well. Thanks for all the help.
I bought a S3 charger (in samsung) it charges for a week, but recently it charges slow. I downloaded an app called "galaxy charging current" and it seems like I get unstable charging sometimes 800, 600 or even 100. I unplug the charger then plug it back to work, sometimes it charges faster sometimes no luck. (I have tried charging other phones using my charger and it seems to work). Thanks in advance

Try using a USB cable to charge your your phone instead. They are more reliable.
Thank you, I'll try using another cable. Tell you the results after.
I'm still getting 100s from the app. Is it possible my phone is the one that has problems?

Possible .
Factory reset
Take to service centre are your choices
When I charge with a cord the power to the device will go in and out like the connection is loose at the contact. I'm using the HTC charger the phone came with.
I've found that if I apply pressure to the plug in the phone it never looses connection and if I jiggle it while in the outlet it goes between charging and not charging.... Any advice?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Could be the charger or the port or the outlet. Try another charger and outlet. If it's the port and you're under warranty return it.
Well I'm unlocked and s off.. can I return it if I undo everything?

You sure can... I just did... And for the same reason lol

I had this problem long before I s-offed or rooted, so I highly doubt it's that. The included HTC cable stopped working for me. It also doesn't work in any other device I have tried it with. I now use a Samsung cable (the kind that came included with the i9000) and it works fine. Try a different cable and see how that works.

I just found this out. The charger port on this phone is made up of 2 parts. One side will take the standard micro USB 2.0 cable. So if you are ever without the 3.0 you can use any regular cable to charge. If course it will be slower but at least you can charge it.

I leave my cable hooked up to my pc and use my S4 cable to charge. No biggie.
I already have two USB 3 cables. One is plugged into my laptop at all times and the other's on an AC adapter.
For those of you using the USB 2 cable, it's the hole on the right of the phone.
It tells you that in the manual that comes with the phone lol
