[Q] Reinstalling stock phone app on Fujitsu STYLISTIC M532 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I accidentally deleted phone.apk and phone.odex located in /system/app following circumstances that I won't explore here, and because of this, I no longer have mobile data connectivity. Now, I did offload phone.apk onto an external SD card before this happened, but phone.odex was lost, and now I need it back. Attempts at installing Phone.apk always end up failing with a message simply stating that Application was not installed, and trying to use adb to install it returned error [INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT]. I used the search engine to look for similar questions, but they all involve some sort of a custom ROM. The tablet is rooted and running stock ICS 4.0.3 (no custom ROMS for this device yet, as far as I'm aware). Is there any way to acquire the missing .odex file other than requesting someone with the same device to upload it here?

No, man. The only way to get proper .ODEX, is get it from from original firmware. I recommend you to request both phone.apk and phone.ODEX, to 100% avoiding version mismatch.

[Q]How can I get stock apps back to stock rom system/app

So I have Stock 2.1 rom htc Hero rooted with 1 click root. (Vista x64 and cant sync but the app inventor works fine)
I needed the space (thought I did, in the end I didnt)
And via titanium backup I uninstalled the stocks and stocks widget(without a backup). Now I got them from a very nice guy in apk form but I need also ODEX files to it.
I have a friend with the exact rom as me. BUT he doesnt have root and I am not sure I will be able to get root from him.
So any way to get the apk + odex without root? . And if no. How is the root way?
But cant push them back to the system.
He suggested I do it with the adb thingy but the first step:
adb remount -a
does this
when set change only = device not found
+ USB debugging = operation not permitted
Then I read here somewhere to try to install and move them to the system/app
But "application not installed" when trying to install
Bought yesterday the root explorer and was thinking to just move them to the system/app. Would it do some damage? Or just dont work? Or maybe work?
As you can see I dont have any idea what linux and android is about so I dont know what that move would do or anyone has any other idea how I could do this? (Without flashing )
And why I need it. There is a new update coming 405.2 with the G-sensor calibration tool (htc wrote me to get it) . But here somewhere I read that it wont install since in the package are updates for ALL apps even stocks.
I cant do much more to this hero, since its still in warranty (and kinda not mine ) And I know more of this is posted here, and I tried to get some answers in some other threads, but no luck.
If I know the 405.2 will go on without the stocks and stocks widget installed , I wont even need this. But I cant be sure or did actually someone try this?
And thanks for any answer and sorry for doubleposting.
I have created an UPDATE.zip without stocks, because I hate It and had removed from ny ROM too.
If You need It I can send You a link.

Perdita, I wouldnt know what to do with the update.zip . If it involves adb.exe on the stock rom as described it didnt work. Also if I might to know.
Will I loose the future OTA update capability?
Will I loose warranty in some way?
Will I loose root?
And is your version compatible with mine? Meaning the locale files, languages etc?
Btw what would the original OTA do to my stock rom if it wont find the app? Will it boot into the recovery as did for the one guy in the thread before? Or it would just skip the files?
If it really just dont patch what it wont find I would wait
Perdita you seen the update what else is fixed as just the G-sensor, since that I fixed now manually and if thats the only change, no need for me to update kinda?
Latest PATCH updates about 100 files, so I don't think it shows changes G-calibration. I think that if you remove stocks with root, you will have errors with every patch that updates those files, so OTA updates that touches those files will fail too.
You will loose root for a while because you must re-root again (in my case I have update superuser application too).
About warranty, I don't know if you have root, and removed some applications from Stock ROM, you will have problems with warranty now?¿?¿?
Perdita2000,
Well with the one click root and unroot I wont loose the warranty .
So perdita . you sau I wll get errors. But that means I will brick my phone? Wont boot or just wont update? Or just errors and will upadte and skip files.
And thanks for the answer
You can't not update using standard OTA because it will try to patch files missing on your phone. That's all, you can't use HTC patches if you removed software to be patched...
I have tried and... files are not skiped, UPDATE just doesn't install...
Perdita2000,
Ah thanks soo much for the info When I get out of work I will bug you more
Perdita thanks for your asisstance .
But I was luckily able to get the apps back.
here is how (all at own risk!):
1. Find them . I found a suitable original non patched rom and extracted the apps I needed, in my case , STOCKS and WIDGET both APK and ODEX
2. Copy them with ROOT explorer to SYSTEM/APP (mount in RW)
3. Change permissions so they are the same as the other apps in that directory
4. Reboot (once or twice)
Maybe even the sense cache to erase and you have them back
This is what worked for me since I had no luck with the adb.exe :/
Now I am running the new update ....405.2 with ROOT and Stock rom (still with warranty )
Thanks PAGOT, but I'm running my own custom ROM without a lot of unusefull apps for me and a added apps and custom kernel to, so I want to update just files I have on my rom that's why a told you to use a custom UPDATE.zip.

[Q] Accidentally uninstalled stock clock application

So.
Being a new android user, I messed around with my phone without a full understanding of what would happen if i uninstalled a core application. I assumed incorrectly that Titanium Backup would allow me to reinstall applications, and then uninstalled the stock clock application thinking that it was one of the many clock widgets.
Could someone upload their stock Clock application apk here, or advise me as to how I can restore the stock clock (preferably without having to flash the original ROM)?

Here. I backup all of the apk that I want to remove. Hope this is what you want.
Is this the stock clock application, like the one used for alarms and such?
EDIT: I attempted to install ClockPackage.apk anyway by using Root explorer, and then moving the apk to /system/app and installing it from there, but it says 'Application not installed.' Am I doing something wrong?

This is for clock, alarm, stopwatch etc. Put the apk on the root of your sd card and install from there. Don have to move it to system/app.

4)turn phone off.

Did you add the odex file as explained above?
Yes i followed the guide as described. I have the odex and apk in system/apps folder. Funny, another clock widget im using is showing my next alarm.. but no alarmclock..
Followed the guide above, apk and odex showing in app system/app but still not available anywhere on the phone.
Anyone recommend a third party clockpackage from the market?
Used sgstools to kill my clock so used it to reinstall it to.
added a extra script,
echo "this will reverse the klok hack"
busybox cp -f /sdcard/sgstools/ClockPackage.apk /system/app/
(you might have to remove it fist if you have been messing around to get it working again)
I did the what the above guide said and could not find the app in the application menu. Help!
will reloading the stock firmware fix this issue?

I did the same thing, but when i restart my phone, the clock in not in the app drawer, when i go to TB, it is there, but with a line through it and it won't restore, all attempts to install the apk is failing too... what can i do?
The link for the odex file is down. Also, I'm trying to get this app working on CM7. Is that doable? I love CM, but a couple of the samsung apps are miles beyond what comes with Cyanogenmod - namely the clock, and the camera. I understand I can't swap the camera app, having looked into it, and I'm ok with that. The clock, however... I gotta have my samsung clock back!
Parse Error
I managed to get the ClockPackage.apk and the ClockPackage.odex from another device (running on 2.3.5 instead of 2.3.6) and now I get the following error while trying to install the apk:
"Parse Error: There is a problem parsing the package"
Does anybody know what to do?
Contacts app backup please help
hi, I recently updated my sgs2 i9100p (NFS) to ics via kies. Its orange but I unlocked now 4.0.3 with baseband ver i9100PBVLP6. an orange bloatware called 'contact backup' irritated me so I decided to uninstall it with Titanium backup. but in a hurry I uninstalled stock contact app. now there is no contact and in every 5-10 second phone freezes and error msg comes-' unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped'. Please help.
AnalogClock.apk + ClockPackage.apk seem to work together.
I used SystemApp Remover to disable ClockPackage.apk, (thought it was a bunch of unnecessary Clock widgets), but stock Clocks package stopped working. I tried enabling it, copying ClockPackage.apk, and still could not. SuperSU logs indicated that all operations succeded normally, but it simply would not work.
I thought, maybe it messed up with program data, permissions, etc., so I removed/deleted both, restarted, then simply copied .apk file for both back. Only then it worked.

There are applications that access data, and there are applications that provide that data. For example, for contacts, you could have many applications that use it (Email, Messenger, Call Logs, etc), and one application that provides it. In case if you accidentally delete data provider (in your case contacts), and if that data provider is essential to running your phone, you will ruin your phone. You might be able to restore it, but I would recommend using Odin to flash correct official firmware. Search in forum "i9100 Android Development".

U are right. I think I uninstalled contact provider, the main contact app. I tried to find solution for all day but coudn't. Tried to flash original stock rom which I have downloaded (i9001PBVLP6) but odin didn't detect my phone in downloading mode. I had to make my phone work anyhow so I flashed Wanamlite 11 with cwm which is ok but not fully functioned on my nfc version sgs2 (now I know the importance of back-up). Now I want my original stock rom back. tried with cwm but didnt work, Odin doesnt detect my phone. any help regarding flashing this stock rom, please?

[DEV] Need help with porting the Samsung Optical Reader app from AT&T

hi guys, not sure exactly which forum this goes in. I was my hands on an AT&T Galaxy S4 and copy out the SamsungOCR2.apk and SamsungOCR2.odex files. I tried renaming the odex file to classes.dex and adding it to the apk file, but it won't install on my Verizon S4. I've searched around trying to figure out how to correctly build out an installable apk file from these two and haven't had any success. If I post the files, can someone else try and create an installable apk?
All I ever get is "application not installed" at the end. I'm running SynergyROM and I have allow apps from unknown sources checked and verify apps is unchecked.
Thanks in advance for your help.
(P.S. Yes, I know I can just use google glasses, or camcard, but I'd like to get this working and I'm sure others would like to try it out too).
Moved to Q&A and Help section
Do they work on an odex ROM (stock or modded without Samsung bloatware removed)? You'd most likely need to place them in /system/app and reboot. Most apps in system don't need to be "installed" perse, just placed there.
Edit: I see that even if I place it in /system/app, it does not show up with an icon, but I'm running CleanROM 1.5 R2, which gets rid of a lot of Samsung apps... so there might be another file that I need to make the icon for the app appear.

Stock, but you'll need root to put in /system/app. If you just want to make a nandroid backup, one of the ROMs mentions it has it supposedly:

Search for optical in that thread's first page

[Q] Locked/Rooted - Factory restore issue

Hey Guys,
Hopefully someone can help me out here. I have a RMAed TF201 with JB bootloader which I just rooted with the new method. I used titanium to uninstall a bunch of bloatware and pre installed ASUS stuff that I didn't want. Yesterday I decided to do a factory restore and it works but leaves out a bunch of ASUS APK's that I removed with titanium. Now I'm unable to download ANYTHING with the browser or market. I get an error with android.process.media and the only way I can install APK's is using ADB. I figured that I would try to unlock and use custom ROMS to fix this but the unlocker tool gives me the network error that everyone seems to be getting. Here are a few questions hopefully someone can help me with:
Can I put the APK's that I deleted with titanium back in the the System/App folder? (Right now it's giving me a read only error)
Is there a way to download ASUS's recent firmware and have my system restore from that?
Is there anything I can do about the unlock tool that doesn't have me sending back my tablet to have my device unlocked.
Note** I'm familiar with ADB and willing to take any risk to solve this issue.
Thanks in advance.
Mike

I've tried. Maybe i'm doing something wrong when I put it on the SD card? I left the zip file and I also unzipped it. The firmware update doesn't pop up. It looks like the provided file explorer is MIA too so I ADB install ES. I deleted alot of things tabbed with "ASUS" in Titanium, I hope i didn't really screw something up here.
Can someone please send me the basic system apps? I even think I removed the updater! Is there an APK for that? That might solve my issue.

Updating Problem With My Device

Hi everyone I'm having some issues when updating my phone to a new version of android, the phone I have is the Huawei Ascend P2 this morning there was an update available to install to I downloaded it and proceeded to install but during the installation process I got an error and the update was aborted, I tried this several time with the same result I get assert failed: apply_patch_check I know there have been threads about this before and I tried following some of the steps but it never resolved the issue. I have rooted my phone and deleted the browser from my phone using root app delete as it was slow and useless. I saw a guide on there that that required me to download the apk for the app causing the issue and to place it back into the system/app directory I did that but the issue still remains. I also saw another guide that said I have to edit something I tried to follow it but as I'm not so android savvy I didn't understand it and was unable to try it for myself. Any help would be much appreciated from you guys, I know some of you may be annoyed at me by posting a thread about an issue that has been solved before and for that I appologise I have tried some of the suggestions made but still unable to resolve this, any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
The error I get is assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/Browser.apk
I have the same problem, an update was released for my phone but it fails the check because of the build.prob. you could try to backup your phone and the do a factory reset on the phone
Factory reset is not going to make the Browser app work.
When you moved it into the /system/app folder, do you remember if you changed the permissions? Since it is a system app, it needs to have different permissions than a regular app from the Play Store. It'd be simple to test - Does the app show up in the app drawer? Can you open it? If not, you either have the wrong version of the Browser.apk or you have not set the permissions to: RW-R-R.
For the build.prop issue - Are you rooted? Have you made any changes to it or installed any apps that would adjust it? This could be for anything from changing the wifi scan interval to memory management apps. If so, then you can grab an unchanged one and copy it to your phone, set permissions, and reboot. Have to make sure it is the right one, or it won't boot at all and you'd need to restore the entire phone. If you have CWM or TWRP then definitely nandroid before attempting anything like that. If you don't understand any of this, then best to get some help and do not attempt yourself.
I havê changed it yes.thats WY i need an unchanged one to compare it.and i AM Also rooted.

How did you change it? Most tools that edit the build.prop also create a backup. You might search for it with a root explorer. Typically, it'd be labeled like:
build.prop.bak
If that's the case, then rename the modded version and remove the .bak off the original, make sure the permissions are set still and reboot. Other than that, you'll just have to hope someone responds to your request in the P2 thread.
Cant i do a full phone repair? My old Sony had that feature from the PC. It completely erased everything and flash a stock ROM
Sent from my HUAWEI P2-6011 using XDA Free mobile app
I think the only way that they released to the public for updates is the update.app way. I'm sure they have a tool @ a service center. Dunno why they wouldn't put it out. But this is why you don't make changes to the system without backing it up. I take it you don't remember what you changed in the build.prop, just to undo it?
