I am learning to port roms and have some questions
1. Can i take cm7 as base rom and cm9 as port rom
2. What are the requirements for that should be same on both devices i mean should the processor speed, resolution, screen size, ram be exactly same on both devices
3. Do both devices need to be arm v6
4. What is the best device to port roms to Htc wildfire buzz
Sorry for my bad english
It has to be same firmware. E.g ics to ics, gb to gb. N it should be on same processor. If u push arm v7 rom to arm v6, i guarantee it will be lag like hell.

Not officially, but I know the Droid X and Droid 2 both have CM9 ROMs. Wikipedia lists more devices with that CPU:

3630 upgrade from Android 2.3 to 4.0+
Hello,
We are looking for developpers able to port our phone from 2.3 to 4.0+ Android.
Our hardware is custom and integrate a TI OMA 3 1GHZ, 512 MB Ram, Samsung 5 Mpxl Camera, front cam, 32GB Internal memory.
DO you know who can be able to do that?
I recently found out this: https://code.google.com/p/cm9-wildfire-s/downloads/list
Unofficial ROM of CM9 for HTC Wildfire S. G1345's hardware is pretty much the same as Wildfire S' one. The same Qualcomm MSM7227 CPU and 512Mb of RAM on both devices. Also, here we have Clockworck ModRecovery for G1345, so now it's possible to flash ROMs without a signature of manufacturer. Question: is it possible to port CM9 to our devices, or simply flash with this one for Wildfire S? I think the only difference would be the lack of dual-sim support. I found that as the only hardware dfference between Wildfire S and G1345, however, I might be wrong. What do you think about this?
Why dont you try? If it doesn't work you will backup..
HELLO , guys
i am new to XDA and i dont know anything about rom developement
just had some experience with changing the rom
i am using galaxy y s5360
android 2.3
but i like ICS and jellybean version very much i want to put in my device
so i started looking for it i came across lots of custom roms and i have changed the rom many times still not satisfied i want to have real ics
now my question is that samsung galaxy y plus s5303 which has ICS and my device(s5360) are exactly similar just y plus have higher internal memory
why can we use the ICS firmware of s5303 and use to flash s5360 using odin just as we do for stock rom ?
or is there somthing to be modified
pls guys tell me
i am really mad about this ICS i have searching 1 year pls

Well with my experience I think the main difference is of the cpu if its different then u should be flashing different roms .....
Correct me if I am wrong
not a good idea .. flash a rom made for YOUR device or build one
Ics need minimum 512 mb to run on any device and galaxy y has only 289 mB of ram and also y has a 832 mhz single cored processor which cant handle ics and up so you better use any ics/jb themed rom ( the best is nemesis rom)
Hello there.
I recently changed my device from a Xperia X8 to the new LG L4-II (E440), but i noticed that development for these new LG devices is almost nowhere to be seen because of its Mediatek hardware (at least that's what devs complain about)
I used MiniCM10 on the X8 (JB 4.1.2) and noticed that both of these devices have the same resolution (although the LG has a bigger screen), so my question is:
Since both devices have the same resolution, and both Roms are Jelly Bean 4.1.2, is it possible to use the UI files from the custom Rom in Lg's stock rom, (SystemUI, framework-res, stuff like that) without bricking the software?
LG doesn't have a custom recovery and both phones have very different hardware, so porting the Rom for me is out of the question, i'm no developer... but since they have the same resolution, it would be fun to merge some CM flavour into the stock rom.
Thank you guys in advance.

no..bro yu simply cant copy the ui files for another rom...dey wont work... U may end up soft bricking or bootlooping ur device...
Yu must port it for ur device
and another thing yu cant simply port cyanogen from another phone to a mediatek device...it will never work....(may cause hard brick also)
only roms of mediatek can be ported for mediatek devices dat also the chipset should be same (like mt6577 to mt 6577) or (mt 6589 to mt6589) not from (mt6577 to mt6589) and vv
hit thanks rather typing
Anyone can change the UI without root, just install nova launcher, sun beam live wallpaper and a custom notification bar from the play store.
