[Q] 2GB only after full wipe ???? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok, i am seriously confused !! i did a factory / full wipe reset and after that i ONLY have 2gb available ??? how is that possible ???
anyone can help with this ? i am really confused here !!
PS: my photos are on my external SD

Using clockworkmod recovery????
EDIT : It only wipes apps and app data. It doesn't wipe the internal SD card.. only stock recovery wipes internal SD card.

Stock Samsung ROM's come with the stock recovery.. you'll get around 11.25 GB free I think.

I don't have the link to the stock recovery.. sorry..
You won't loose root as it doesn't wipe /system partition. All the system apps will be intact.

thanks mate,
a factory reset from phone itself should do it ? right ??

yes. and removes cwm and supersu. after wiping thru phone re-root

just did
ok, root stayed, freed alll my mem !! now i have more than 11gb available !!

Wow. Noobs Galore here. You dont need the stock recovery. Even if you had it wiping data from it doesnt format your internal card. Fatory resetting (from any version of android) while booted up will clear all data and internal sd card.

......or just format your sd card

looks like my CWM backups were taking the space !!

for future, grab the app disk usage, great visual analysis of what is using storage

Wiping out full data

Hello guys.
I wanted to know a high standard way of wiping out my FULL data after installing omega rom. I dont think factory reset is so superior.
My phone should look like a brand new without any extra data but with omega rom.
So please tell me a way. It should be like installing a new windows after a complete format
Thanks.
why do u think factory reset is not "superior"?
Factory reset is good enough. If you still not satisfied then you can try to use super wipe which you can find it in ARHD development thread.

Ok thanks.
One last question.
It says that we have to flash super wipe script in Recovery mode from internal sdcard.
Ok fine.
But then it says that again select option "Install From Internal SDcard" and choose ROM.zip.
*I am installing OMEGA rom. Will its zip be flashable this way?
*I have no external SDcard. Will my ROM.zip (Omega.zip) get removed during wipe process? Then what will i do if this happens?

Then you cannot use super wipe because it will totally wipe your internal memory.
Get an ext sdcard. Is cheap

unlocked bootloader
stock ics
Any one???
Do you have clockworkmod installed? If yes, wipe data using it or do a factory reset.
It'll wipe all phone data . Backup your important data and wipe your data partition. It should work.
Click thanks if I helped you!

just copy the files to your external SD an copy them back after you flashed the 4.2 ROM ...
the external SD should be untouched even with full wipe ...

[Q] Help Completely Erasing Phone of All Data

I am getting ready to upgrade to a new phone.
I would like to completely erase all data from the phone that accumulated while I owned it.
Is there an easy way to completely wipe all user data from the phone?
I'll probably donate the phone or recycle it, so I don't want any sensitive information to remain on the phone.
Thanks for any help.

Settings>privacy settings> factory reset. Then in storage unmount sd and format it.
Or if you are gonna revert to stock gb then repair using pc companion which will remove all of your phone data and then same procedure for formatting sd card. Or you can format it using pc

However if you had a custom kernel and ROM on you should wipe /system /data and /cache partitons via recovery, flash the stock kernel back and flash the stock ROM with SEUS.
