Recently my Touch pad started force closing a lot when opening apps. Seemingly at random. Apps just won't open until around 10 attempts. I was running a August version of cm9 nightly which worked perfectly until the force close problems started around 2 weeks ago. So I did a clean and wipe and installed the fat and creamy rom couple days ago which seemed to have solved the problem and again apps have started force closing on launch. Particularly settings I've noticed. Could it be an hardware issue? Possibly corrupt memory as it doesn't seem to be from specific?

Use fix permissions in recovery. Wipe both caches.

exactly
SH is right, from what I've read online. When I installed the Supercharger script on my TP it fixed the issue as fixing permissions is part of its installation process (also on each boot, I think?).

Yeah, I did fix permissions through cwm on the previous rom and it didn't seem to stop the force closes. I'll try it again on my current rom to see what happens.

Read this thread, it might help : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426244
I've just wiped the cache and fixed permissions but still getting force closes.

Can you make me a logcat?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
Yes I would but strangely I've not had a force close for the whole day or so. Seems to have stopped for now. Strange.

Not sure if this helps but I am running stars far & creamy and was getting apps that wouldn't open on the first (or second, third) tries and an ocassional FC and even a few random reboots. This is on a completely wiped, clean install and only after I added some apps.
I traced every issue down to me running the Oceans HD live wallpaper. When I stopped using that last week I have had zero issues. Everything that is supposed to work, does. Just a heads up for folks who may be experiencing the said same issues.

The dreaded closes are back. I pasted the logcat of the error when I tried to open the play store onto pastebin http://pastebin.com/Xr7wqX14
From what I can see, there is some sort of fatal error with adreno libs. The logcat when opening chrome had the same error.

I was having a lot of FC before I installed SGA's Fat'n Creamy rom. I think I have had only 1 or 2 FC in over 3 weeks.

I'm running Cyanogenmod 7 build 7/18, and all of the sudden every other app is crashing upon loading. I did a reboot and they continue to crash. What could be the problem?

This is utterly rediculous, my phone is unusable now!

So you should Odin and start clean, make sure to repartition using the pit file. This is part of running a work-in-progress Rom.
I ended up cleaning out the cache partition and it seems to have helped a great deal. I'll make sure to do a clean install later this week with one of the nightly builds, though, thanks for the advice.
If you get more force closes than a chain of Circuit City stores again, try running "fix permissions" from clockwork recovery advanced menu...
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...

Did you restore apps using Titanium Backup? All of my gapps force closed when I restored them from TiBu.

Oh, yes, I did do that. That might be the problem.
Visual Voicemail freezes my phone for about 60 seconds, then a message pops up, " Unfortunately visual voicemail has stopped."
This has also happened with a couple other apps which i can't remember exactly which ones atm.
Anyone else experience this or have advice on how to fix?
I'm experiencing the same problems since I upgraded to Samsung official ICS rom and rooted it. My Google apps are unstable and force closing all the time and making my phone ridiculously slow cause it waiting for it to respond which never happened.

All stock, no rom, flash or root.
Tx ---art.
Since you're rooted. You must have CWM. Go in recovery(Google the steps), wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, and fix permissions.
Then you should be good

Yes i am. I'll uninstall & reinstall now, tx!!!!!!!!
My settings keep force closing on me whenever I try to click on something to get more information. For example when I went to motion and clicked the smart alert button to learn more it would freeze and then force close on me every time. Is anybody else experiencing this? I'm on stock rooted rom.
(Also the xda premium app force closes a lot too.. Just a side note.)

boot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik cache and that should fix it. Also, what rooted rom are you running?
I pretty much on stock rooted rom, it's actually Whitehawks debated stock rom. And all I did was flash that rom and use Robinsons aroma debloater full debloat. That was a long time back and then I just installed my regular market apps. The setting things I just noticed a couple days back. I didn't go into settings much. Gapps also frequently force closes too, I don't know what's causing it.
The xda force close is because I think something is wrong with the app. I saw reviews on play saying the same thing.
But yeah I didn't mess with freezing or un installing with tit bacmup.
I'll try and do the dalvik wipe and see what happens.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Tried doing the dalvik and cache wipe problem persists. The settings just force close when I learn more about smart alert and like try it and others like it, also on phone status. It just bugs me.
I really don't want to wipe and install again

I've been getting too many force closes with my S3... It happens with many apps and sometimes it just gets stuck for like two minutes which I can't do anything until it comes back. Have you guys had any issues? I don't know weather to take it back or do a factory data reset...

Sounds like something you installed is causing it. Factory reset it. Force Closes are typically software related.
Its happened to me a couple of times as well on the gallery and tapatalk 2 app. It is few and far between so it doesn't affect me too much.

OK. I'm going to delete some apps that I don't use and restart. Maybe it's one of those... If not, I'll factory reset it.

I currently get on XDA through my app right now...just searching for a thread listing forever...and if I hit the profile option it force closes.
Worked fine for the last week but nothing now!
Happens to me a lot when running touchwiz launcher I am now using apex and have had zero crashes. Although with android its like windows you will get force close just like windows gets blue screens its just one feature of owning an android phone but it rocks.

I used to have this problem on my OG Incredible, (haven't yet had it on my S3) and I would usually solve it by uninstalling/re-installing or clearing data on the apps that would force close. If every app is FCing though then it may just be easier to Factory Reset.

I experienced a random reboot today running the TwistedUmbrella Liquid ICS Build - I was curious if anyone knew of a way to pull logs from the phone after the random reboot occurred to examine and possibly see if it could be fixed?

If you were loggin before the reboot I would say you might have what caused it. Have you made any tweaks or changed any settings?

Nope, I wasn't doing any logging or anything out of the ordinary, I was just using my device - I had applied a GPS patch for TwistedUmbrella's build of ICS MR3, but this reboot didn't happen until way later.
My guess would be that the patch had an effect. Maybe try a fresh flash with a full wipe and move the contents of your sf card off and reformat it too.

Still curious how to pull logs from a reboot
Bump
If the logs are on the sd card. Take it out, put it in an adapter, plug into PC.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda app-developers app
AFAIK you have to be running a logcat otherwise the log is overwritten on reboot.

That is what I thought. Like I said earlier if you're logging before it reboots the error should be in the log. It would work if you were logging it from your PC at the time. Then you wouldn't lose the log from the reboot.
