Hi!
I heard a lot of SGS2 users talking about these 2 custom ROMs like Lite'ning and Villain ROMs. Right now I'm using the Lite'ning ROM and I'm pretty happy with it, but I feel taht I need a change you know. So I was thinking to chnage my current rom to Villain ROM, but I don't know if it worth it? I need help to decide myself.
I would like to know which have the best battery life as I usea lot WIFI, internet and games. I focus most on the battery usage and a bit of style system improvements.
So, help me do decide, Lite'ning ROM or Villain ROM?
I don't even think it's worth rooting this phone right now. It's up to date, it's fast, all as stock...

With Lite'ning I really improved the battery usage.
VillianROM works for me . Very friendly thread as well .
Plus it doesn't take long to back up things and switch back if its not for you .

I want to know more about the battery usage? How much it lasts?
I actually feel that samsung made this phone pretty beastly as is and did a good job on the fw, so i prefer just stock KG6; I do from time to time flash CM7 to see how its running along with its changes. I say either CM7 or Stock samsung is amazing for this phone.

Depends what you do....
Nobody can predict your battery life, try it and see, don't like it, flash back......

Ok, ehmm ... With the current Lite'ning ROM my phone is on with WIFI and using it regularly and the battery life lasts like 1 week and some days.

Yes it is, talking from own epxerience.
I'd like to see some screenshots of your Battery Usage.
You sure you are actually using the phone
One week!? I was excited when mine lasted for two days! Put up a picture of this!
And how do I print screen it?
Home + power buttons
you guys dont seriously believe anyone is getting a weeks battery do you? lol
I tried CM7 and VillainROM 2.3/2.4.2 and stock of course. CM7 and Villain are far better, faster and the battery lasts longer
Don't think there will be much difference in battery life with the use of either one of these ROM themself.
They do use different kernels but you can flash them separately and then use setCPU and underclock / undervoltage and try to improve the battery life slightly that way ....
Also some opengl games (myth defence) don't work well with my old stock rom (KE7). Now with CM7 everything is fine and smooth
NeoPhyTe.x360
Tried both, used Villain Rom for a while. now love NeoPhyTe.x360

Hey guys,
I have a question, I have my SGS II, and I tested out alot of roms and kerenels but I just cant get to a promising results regarding battery life.
My question is:
What is the most promision ROM and KERNEL combo for BEST battery life?
Really? Really? Seriously?
I think you should use stock Rom
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Yea... Stock if you want battery
Unfortantuly my stock rom sucks, laggy and ****ty.
And cmon guys stop tagging this post as span n other **** I am new to this all new android stuff and I see people with effin 3 days of battery life while in 100% mine only lasts for 8 hours.
Be more serious.
So, did you read up on how they were getting it? (3 effin days battery)
Have you then tried the same thing?
Checkrom revoHD.
Well for me checkrom revo HD with leoMar kitchen app is simply the best. This combined with Dark Knights Siyah kernal is the best combinition for me. I get a full day of battery charge with heavy usage.

They diden't mention to write.
Only pics.
This will depend on so many variables, network, location, Modem, ROM, Kernel, user installs of software, wake locks, bad signal.......
Hence the only way to find is via flashing bedding testing....
As you will notice users can have same setup but very different outcomes..
Using CWM backup you can always revert to stable setup.

HI ,
I'm willing to buy S II , but i heard there are some issues regarding the battery life is that true ? and if that is true any solutions for the short battery life , what are the most useful applications i must install after buying it ?

Lool! All smartphones have a decent battery life, nothing amazing. Not really an issue but you do have to tweak your phone a bit to get the best out of it. Like kernels and freezing and removing something useless things . Hope i helped.
looks like an iphone but powered by android baby!!!!

do you think better idea to stick to the official updates only? because i'll be new user and i dont wanna screw up my new phone..

for the time being yes. stick with official updates. then while you stick with official updates do your reading. take your time and read through out the threads. and when you feel confident enough to root then go ahead. but for now i suggest you stay stock.

i am coooollllll but anywhooooo i am just a noobie buddy....just common sense really kicks in when needed
i dont quite understand the ppl who buys android phones and doesnt modify it... i mean the only TRUE difference between iphone and sgs2 is powered by iphone iOS and Android.. which is open source... the other difference doesnt really matter much.. processor ( yea its more powerful but duuh.. there isnt much things to do that really require that much power) or the screen (duuh iphone has abit better screen so what? if u dont look closely u wont even see difference(atleast not me)) so yea if you gona buy sgs2 i RECOMMEND you to do alot of flashing and rooting and play with it around
WITH BACKUP of course... especially the EFS backup
It all depend how you use your phone. Sometimes I it for hours on end and go through 2-3 batteries a day (I have 3 spares).
Today I used it very little. About 7 phone calls, 2 messages and only about half an hour browsing / xda etc. Currently on 85% after 18 hours.
So usage makes a massive difference.

With that usage aslong as you charge each night you should be fine, my usage is similar and i go to bed with 20%

do you think is there a need to change the Kernel version ? or just do the official update and it will be fine ?
Definitely stick to official updates. Regardless of what anyone might tell you, it's a fantastic phone running stock firmware. And if you're not confident about flashing custom roms/kernels (there's a small risk everytime you do it that things might go wrong/you might brick your phone), definitely stick to official firmware.
At the very least until you've done a lot of reading on here and are confident to try different roms/kernels. If things do go wrong, it might take you a few days of research on here to work out how to fix your phone (which means you won't have your phone working for that time), and at worst you'll have to return it to Samsung for repair. Which you'll probably end up paying for as running custom roms/kernels voids your warranty.
So slow and steady, stick with stock for a while and read. Then read some more. And when you're done doing that, read for another couple of months.

Sorry but got to disagree, yes its a great phone as stock but with custom ROM and kernels its an amazing phone. The devs here have done some amazing work. BUT (and its a big one) dont do a thing till you've researched your arse off, and you understand all the risks of what your doing.

(woohoo 400th post)
Latest stocks have been fine, even stock kernels have shown improved battery life. But with a custom rom/kernel combination your setting up a phone the way you like it with many ways of tweaking it.
If you do buy one, update to latest stock, try it out, if your not happy then root and enjoy.
My post was an attempt to persuade the OP to stick to stock should he purchase an SGS2. The last thing we need on here is yet another " Hlap mai fone broked !" post :-/ (and everything that goes with it).

My wifi and GPS are on 100% of the time. I never turn them off. Today, 23 hours since charge and about 2 hours screen time and battery on 69%. But 3g is off (2g only) and no email sync.
Yesterday, heavy usage and went through at least 2 batteries.
BTW, since I got the s2 I've only ever used cf root kernals. Nice and stable for me and the closest thing to stock. Others claim increased performance or have over clocking etc don't interest me. I believe the phone doesn't need them. Also using Checkrom. On the S1, well that was different.

Hi guys! I am new here, and glad to be a part of this big community.
Recently i bought a new Samsung Galaxy S III. The phone was running stock ICS 4.0.4.
Because i am really stupid, and like to make all my gadgets "better", i installed Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Polonia, from Sammobile.
The problem is... THE BATTERY, IT'S HORRIBLE! 3-5% over night discharge, with 30% light, no Wi-Fi, no Sync, only H+.
In a little game, like Doodle Jump, Jetpack Joyride or Jumping Slime, 15 minutes of gameplay and 3-4% battery is gone.
I have the Clockworkmod recovery installed, and i did a full charge and wipe battery stats... the battery got better, but no like on ICS.
What should i do... i would like to install ICS back, but i see that it's kind of laggy, and doesn't got manny features.
I don't like to install a Custom ROM, like Ressurection Remix, AOKP and stuff like that...
Furthermore, on the curent Jelly Bean i was had installed Siyah Kernel and i undervolted my CPU with -50mV, and still no improvement.
What should i do? Back to ICS? The battery life was great in games/aplications...
Thx for any reply!
Cheers!
no, no, no, no, NO!! Best rom threads arent allowed and are not looked upon lightly! Roms are entirely based on personal preference....flash a few and see which ones offer the best battery life FOR YOU!! And its not unusual for games and mobile data to use battery. Its inevitable really dude....

No... the thing is, i want a RECOMMANDATION, for the best stock ROM. On this forum there are many Galaxy S III users... what is the best ROM for their devices?
For me, the best ROM, was ICS 4.0.4, and i hadn't got any major battery drain like this. But i want to hear some opinions on this subject.
And no more useless reflashing... i am afraid that my NAND will be corupt. I flashed my phone like 5 times in a week, trying to establish the best ROM.

install the app better battery stats, and charge your phone up then leave it to idle for a couple of hours then report back with screen shots of kernel wakelock, and partial wakelock
Apart from that Google now causes some extra drain due to using location services.check what you are syncing (I suggest getting rid of the whole Samsung account/backup set up and disabling Google back up
3-5% isn't really that bad, neither is 3-4 % in 15 minutes of gameplay, considering normal screen on drain is approx 10%/hour

You said it yourself "trying to establish the best rom" their is no best rom....what gives you huge performance in terms of battery might suck for someone else....every device is different. And if you flashed your device 5 times in a week then my nand must be screwed because ive tried every galaxy S3 rom. It takes more than you think to damage your nand dude

Ok... i will install ICS back.
The JB battery really sucks. Only 5 minute call and checking some emails and 7% gone.
I think the battery is exactly the same..i was getting 6hrs screen on time on 4.0.4 and im still getting 6 hrs on dlib and its much faster

InsertCoin is best.
It haves stock (stable) kernel, full debloat (~100 mb more ram), alot of optional user tweaks, and many behind the scenes mods for maximum smoothness and perfomance
If only people could understand that what's best for Person A, might not suit Person B at all. It's a matter of one's own preference and it's imperative to try roms out yourself.
sigh.... I'm just going to paste my response from one of the many other best rom threads
These best rom threads are getting out of hand...
What's the best rom for me might be the worst for you.. It's subjective.
It's like asking who's the hottest girl in the world, or which sports car is the nicest.. It all depends on the person being asked and if you ask in a forum you will be a different answer from everyone.
The only way to find out the best rom for YOU is to try them all until you find the one that's "best" for you and your needs..

Hello!
I wanna know, what you - S3 users, think about this phone.
I wanna buy my GF new phone, which is gonna best 1st "smart phone" for her, and with S4 comming out, S3 prices are gonna drop.
So what is overall expierence with this phone?
Battery life?
Screen brightness?
Any problems?
Version differences? What should I look for, and which should I avoid? (For example, HTC One S comes with Snapdragon4, and also with Snapdragon 3)
P.S. Probably staying on stock rom

I dont really recommend you this phone Yes is has a good screen and quad core processor etc. , but it has the Sudden Death Syndrome which got fixed with an update , but the fix makes your phone freeze depending on the use , i use my phone for whatsapp and fun run and maybe dead trigger or Vice City and i get 1-2 freezes a day ... Thanks to samsung's kernels They are ... what to say xD The best xD? lol
I have this phone for more than a month, and I can say that it's a great phone! It's performance is fast (especially when you can find some tips online how to make it faster and to use different launchers,'cause Touchwiz is really boring)
If abotu battery life, on my phone it's quite poor, when I use it all day, on the evening usually I have around 30-40% left (but you can buy some extended batteries and you will see a difference)
GREAT PHONE....
if u root and install ROM
its like butter smooth and great batttery life
it was the best phone of 2012
Best phone I have ever owned.
And it keeps getting better with the custom rom updates
Probably, an quad core would be no use for girls..
Better buy an sexy phone with average features..
I would suggest you to go for galaxy s2.. Or HTC Mozart(windows = colourful and that phone is an eye candy)
Seriously, SUDDEN DEATH SYNDROME is no more bothering galaxy SIII
I love the S3, it's lightweight with a big screen, great battery life and it will run just about every app perfectly. 2D or 3D!
