Need help updating SGS3 to jellybeans - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to update my fone to jellybeans and This is my fone info:
Model No GT-I9300
Andriod version 4.0.4
Baseband Version I9300BULG2
Build Version IMM76D.I9300BUBLG3
AP: I9300BUBLG3
CP:I9300BULG2
CSC:I9300VFBGLG3
Can i do it and is it safe to update v any UK firmware???

Yeah it should be fine, if your phone is unbranded then make sure you use unbranded firmware otherwise you'll boot with a carrier logo lol

If i flash fimware with odin And update to jellybeans will i av problem in future will i be able to update from Kies? How do i know if my fone is unbranded?

Branding to put it in very simple terms is the network pictures at boot usually saying xxx network and network apps on the phone .

Well at the boot theres no network just say samsung thats it but inside my fone there vodafone applications?

Then its branded take it to a service centre for an update .
You will find they have read the faqs and guides .

why does kies say your device does not support kies?

hi everybody can any one please tell me that why does kies say that your device does not support firmware upgration by kies I am on stock ics rom and I upgraded from gingerbread to ics by kies so whats the problem now?

You might try to uninstall KIES, reboot PC, and the reinstall KIES again.
Sometimes it behaves weird because it's crappy stuff IMHO :cyclops:

If you are on custom rom then kies might say that..happened to me once when i was on custom..i switched back to stock and it detected the phone perfectly..

It detects the phone perfectly and even lets me backup but software upgration is not supported by kies

CSC must be seen by Kies. Check what version it see in () at the and of the line with current firmware version information.
If it is (XXX) than it is unknown. U must know that current firmware must match to any stock firmware 'composition' (correct PDA, CSC and PHONE). You also must have stock kernel installed.

I just bought a S3 from someone (not a carrier), and I plan on rooting it. Firstly I want to find the stock firmware for it in case I need it at some point.

I know I need to check SamMobile in order to find my Firware but i do not know which one is it. Can someone help me please?
Use CHECKFUS to download your stock firmware .

I believe that's the German firmware can I confirm that's jb it's on? If it is then you should find the fw at this link

i used that one.. but now mine has an orange slash screen at start up which mine never had and no longer does ota updates.. trying an update with keys to see if that works.. but before it couldnt update with keys.. said it wan unsupported...

Did you get the phone from orange or elsewhere? You might need UK(BTU), look on Sam mobile for the btu rom

Just flash the latest orange ROM (LH2) from Sam mobile , orange haven't release jelly bean yet and they also remove the software update option.

mine had ota updates.. i had the first 4.0.4 update that way.. but thanks..
i shall try the btu one.. the baseband etc seems the same so with any luck it will be ok.. my charging port is dodgy thats why i need it back..

Some of the first phones that orange released did have the update option, but that was soon removed.
If you want to be 100% sure the just flash LH2 from Sam mobile then you will be fine .

Sammobile.com, download lastest I9300 rom for your region and odin it.
Or Kies.
Then Reroot
Is there in official firmware also a kernel

Jus try to update via Kies. Download Kies to Pc connect your phone via usb cable and whent its connected search for update. This is the easyest way. After u will be in 4.1.1 Just try this maybe helps.

I have kies installed use to have galaxy mini but for my country bosnia and herzegovina there is no official jelly bean so i want to flash internacional 4.1.2 from some other country. And i wonder if is it possible trough odin. Now i am on 4.0.4 last official for my country

Firstly am new to this android stuff. I am using a galaxy s2. it was vodafone galaxy s2 bought in australia, later its been unlocked and sent to me by my cousin. Now am using it in india. When i checked the ROOT STATUS, it show NO ROOT(used root checker from googleplay). Now the issue is that my current Android version is 4.0.3,

I want to manual upgrade my mobile to the latest Gellybean.

There are so many guides for upgrading it's impossible you've missed them. Search here on xda (or on google) and learn how to do it. No need for asking in a new thread because the answers are already out here.
