Hey guys I have a factory unlocked phone which I bought from china, and I also have it rooted, my friend wants me to to update to JB but I'm not sure if I have to unroot my phone to get the update and also if I unroot it will I loose my factory unlock? I'm using it in the United States right now. With carrier t-mobile.. I've also seen other posts about being slow after updating if it's international so what should I do?

Title says it all.. does my phone have to be network unlocked before I install ICS via Odin. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 locked to T-Mobile UK... we all hate T-Mobile and their ridiculous firmware release dates soo I was just wandering, can I update my phones firmware with it being network locked?

I have a factory unlocked phone on Tmobile, but if I install an ICS ROM will that effect the unlock at all? It's currently on gingerbread and already rooted.
No your phone will stay umlocked. I use an unlockes Rogers Note with Bell ICS and no issues at all

Unlock is permanent. Any roms you try can't relock your phone.
I purchased an GS3 (9300) and it was unlocked. After running a software update (ICS) the phone now says it is network sim locked and i cannot do anything. Is there a way to revert back? I tried to run the *#74656 code but it does nothing. Any suggestions w/out having to root the phone?

I have a rooted GS3 (stock rom). My wife and kids all have unrooted phones and they are getting the update right now. I checked for an update and it never finds it so do I need to unroot to get the OTA update?

You could try unrooting, but most of the time Kies does not recognise the device.
1)If you want to get the update the best way is to flash a stock 4.1.2 of your country and then update via kies.
OR
2)Just find the latest 4.1.2 (the update) for your country and flash it
