[Request] Skype Videocalls on Defy

Anyone knows a version that works (video) on MOTODefy ?

I want to use the video call function too
That's a good idea, i believe there will be a mod soon.
This would be very nice. Are there any skype mods for another phones already available and modded for the back-facing camera?
There were 2 threads about Skype with video working for Froyo/Gingerbread here on XDA forums. Can't find them now, were they deleted?
Yeah I tried a few cracked versions of skype, but I can only see the other party.
Got options for front and back cam, but it doesnt do anything
New official version of Skype is out and you can turn on video calls with back camera in options.
It doesn't work for my defy, but it does for some other devices that aren't officialy supported.
Anyone tried ?
I tried, but the back camera still dont work. We can just see the other person.
Hoping they will update soon Skype so we can videocall with our defy

In Defy Theme and Apps forum is a thread on a hacked app with extended functionality.
The tread
It works with suggested settings. Would like the official app to support this to. That way we can update easily. But it works.

That's what I was thinking, but, well, maybe OP has a mirror rig setup so he can use the camera (?)

[Q] No Instant Upload on Google+

Just got Google+ invite and app, and yes its awesome. However, I can't seem to get the instant upload to work when I take pictures. Works fine on my rooted incredible. I tried unfreezing everything on the X2, but no dice. Anyone else having the same issue? Any advice?
Thought I had edited this earlier. After unfreezing everything, I switched storage to internal on cam app. Removed google +rebooted and reinstalled it and now it works fine.
The Moto CAMERA.apk doesn't seem to work with instant upload. The stock camera.apk does though. Hopefully someone will create a 8 MP version shortly that works with the DX2.
Here is the thread for the stock camera that uses the search button as a dedicated shutter button.

Do you mean the stock android cam works with instant upload, but the X2 stock app doesn't? If that's the case try some of the things I did, because it works fine now. DROID Incredible is also 8mp and works fine too. I would really like the stock cam to work with search button, because I didn't care for the stock android one.
It's working great for me but I'm using Vignette as my sole camera app. You should check it out...it's awesome!

Great app. I had tried it before, and it seemed a bit cheesy, but its great now.
I installed Vignette and it only took 4x3 photos. I'm pretty attached to the widescreen ones.

Sense camera app APK?

Sorry if this is a stupid question - did some searching and wasn't able to come up with a concrete answer.
Wondering if there's any work happening to extract the Sense camera app to be able to insert it as an apk into an AOSP/AOKP ROM. Is this even possible/plausible? I know there are ROMs out there that have selectively added/removed certain Sense things, but not sure if it's possible to put that on top of a stock ROM.
If not, are there any apps that replicate some of the functionality (esp. burst shot) that the Sense has in their app?
thanks in advance!

No, its not possible.
The camera code is proprietary

Yet for some reason, people perpetuate the lie that it's coming to CM10 soon, haha. I don't get it.
Anyway, I hear there is an app that does the burst shot thing. Personally, I only ever used it to show it off. Never used it in "real" situations.

You can try an app from the market called "fast burst camera" there is free version and a paid version. I use it with cm10 and it works well

Can you explain more? I dont get what you are trying to say. You're Gallery isnt recognizing the picture you take? What apps and ROM are you using?
In the camera there is gallery off to the side so when your done you can see the pics well i got rid of old gallery and got a new one now thw camera wont go to my pics so i can i rewrite the cam to go to new galley

I had this same issue. Except, I did not delete the original gallery. I downloaded the ICS camera and ICS gallery from the play Store and haven't used the camera and gallery from the ROM. Works like a top.

Well I dont know what gallery you are using, but do like Tally said and get camera ICS from the play store. Its pretty much the same camera the ROM comes with.
Thats what i have is ics gallery

I would SBF to to start fresh and play it safe. Flash your ROM and wipe your cache files. Then download your camera and gallery. Don't go deleting anything.
Also with your file browser, i.e. Root Explorer , look where your pics are stored and make sure they are still there.

If I am understanding this right, you currently have a working camera and a working gallery, correct? If this is the case, are you able to get to ANY gallery from the camera app? If so, and you are just wanting to change the gallery app it opens, then you need to go into your phone settings and select apps. Scroll to whatever gallery app it is currently opening and select it. Then tap on the button that says "clear defaults". After that, go into your camera and open the gallery from there. It should pop up with what app you want to open. Select the gallery you want and then tap "Always".
Thats the best I can do with what you are giving us. If nothing works, do like Tally says again and SBF and start over.
I think what he is saying is: The gallery preview, or last pic taken, in the bottom corner of the screen- when you click on it from the camera view....nothing happens or it comes up a blank gallery.
That's what my X2 was doing.

If thats the case, maybe its the app he is using. He said hes using Gallery ICS. I dont think thats the same as Camera ICS which I think is a direct port from the AOSP camera.
Casper, I dont know how advanced you are with this but you can also open up the zip of whatever ROM you are using and take the original gallery.apk and place it in system/app/ and change permissions to rw-r-rr-- then reboot
You shouldn't have deleted the original gallery so you have two choices 1fix in Rom zip very technical but not that hard with a little searching and research 2sbf ad the ics gallery then either freeze the other app or try to remove just make sure you nano before doing anything
don't be scared it's only a phone

All 4.2.2 ROMs have bad camera support :(

Hey XDA. I'm making a thread about how horrific the camera is on 4.2.2. Snap chat/instagram/Facebook etc all crash when attempting to use the camera. Is there a fix for this or does it only work for 4.1.2?
Sent from my SGH-I717 using xda premium
My camera works fine takes pictures just fine your title is incorrect the problem is not in the camera but in those apps.

^^^ what he said, the included aosp 4.2.2 or cm camera work flawlessly,
3rd party apps are your issue
By support I meant 3rd party apps my bad haha is there a fix?
Sent from my SGH-I717 using xda premium
I haven't heard of one yet, I would think you'd have to find a dev who is interested in these apps i'm pretty sure Jamie isn't one and then log cat. I don't use any of these apps so I'm not really of any help just seen people talking about this. It may be a cm issue as I believe I remember some one saying. So maybe it will get fixed.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Camera accesses by 3rd Party apps now working with Jamie's 6/14 Build of PACman and UBER kernel. (Maybe just the ROM, but that was the combination that I tested Facebook & Airdroid on. (The camera in both apps locked up the phone under ParanoidKangdroid twelve days ago.)
