[Q] Does EVO 3D support HDMI out? - HTC EVO 3D

Hi Guys, my EVO 3D is an international GSM version. I would like to know if my EVO 3D support HDMI out. I want to watch movies through my TV. Did anyone here try this before? The resolution of my TV is 1366*768 16:9. When I output EVO 3D to TV, the resolution would be ?????:cyclops:
Thanks

Yes, even with the stock ROM. According to the comment on this listing it has a maximum resolution of 1280x720P.
I've used it with custom ROM's too, and have noticed that sometimes it takes a reboot after the adapter is connected to activate it.

So the adapter in the second link is what I'm supposed to buy to play my videos on my tv?

That's the official (HTC OEM) version that costs about $35-40 and it works well and looks cool. I bought this version on eBay for about $9 and it works fine for me. The important thing is to provide power using the HTC charger to make it work properly and charge the phone while using it regardless of which adapter you use.
ramjet73

You might want to look at monoprice too. I've never bought an mhl cable from there but their hdmi cables always work great

Thanks. I am now using stock rom 4.03....You said it only supports resolution of 720P? I find out some threads said it could be work under 1080P..... is this an adapter problem?
I have another question. Did you try browsing internet through your EVO 3D when it was connected with TV? I wander how you control it? Is that a way to connect with keyboard via bluetooth?
Thanks

I just hooked up my Samsung LN19A650A1D 19" TV/monitor to my Evo 3D running MeanROM ICS 2.6 with the MHL adapter cable I bought from eBay, and you can see from the attached photo that it was able to achieve a resolution of 1980x1020 in landscape mode, but that's interlaced @ 30Hz.
Regarding the control of the phone while it is connected via MHL/HDMI, you can continue to use the screen and keys on the phone, or use a remote control program like VMLite VNC Server from a PC via a Wi-Fi connection. The Internet browser and most other apps run fine when the phone is connected via MHL/HDMI.

Hello,
Has anyone tried to connect x10 with tv? Should it be connected via usb or 3,5mm jack? Maybe there is some some app needed?
THX for answear.
I suggest you read your owners manual, especially the section covering features of the X10.
Hook up a camcorder directly to the tv, and point it at whatever is playing on your x10
LOL very funny but we prefer hd and not recorded crap
You will have to wait for the DLNA support that is coming to the X10.

Of course, you will need a DLNA compliant TV/Receiver... You can probably hook up as an external drive to a USB media player, but I haven't tried it...
Again, of course you'll need all of these to be HD capable in order to get HD...
Now, while the 3.5mm audio jack question seemed a bit silly, chek here: http://pocketnow.com/tech-news/samsung-galaxy-s-video-out-through-audio-port - so I guess, theoretically it is possible...

Actually, there will be set top boxes for DLNA. HTC announce one today. It is something that I believe will work on the XBox 360 as well.
Yes, but HTC has also an hardware chip for DLNA support.
I connected it once using my brother's n900's cable. it only gave me audio on the tv

I don't think so. (for example you don't need to have special hardware chip on PC to make it DLNA compatible player, server or controler)
the video out is different .. there is hardware support needed
does tv out really need hardware support?
i was thinking about capturing screen, and then translate the signal to something you can send over usb (usb to a/v cable) to your tv ... but i lack knowledge in dealing with hardware at programming ...

I'm no expert on the subject, but if DLNA is being released in the 2.1 update (i cant remember if DLNA is this update or the next one) then maybe it would be worth trying with the connected cable after that...

[Q] Micro-USB to HDMI?

This is a question, that is very important for me.
...
You see, this SGSII phone thing'y is HOT as HELL. It is everything I want in a phone... BUT STOP...
...
NO HDMI out?
...
The original SGS has one and I really don't understand why they took that away from the SGSII.
...
I heard that there is a way to get HDMI mirroring with a software and a micro-USB to HDMI cable! Is that purely a software question or must there be a hardware thing to?
...
Please... respond to this, this is very important.
An MHL hardware connection is needed (look up MHL in wikipedia), fortunately in the official Samsung specs from the press release it says that it has MHL. A video from MWC from someone representing the MHL consortium also says the SGS2 will be the first device supporting MHL.
I'll feel better once I see someone demo it, but Samsung have officially announced MHL capability for the SGS2.

Something does confuse me about MHL, if you have a TV which isn't MHL compatible and you don't want or don't have the adapter, can you use a microUSB-to-HDMI cable and just not have it charge at the same time?

My friend you can use with any HDTV but you dont have charge of your battery device except if you buy an adapter MHL to charge and transmit signal on the same time. But how last your battery can provide of energy?
In my Xperience In my IPad I see 3 Movies via Wireless Apple TV and my battery show 30 % remain. In the case of SGSII at least You have enough power to see a movie with Screen turned Off (SGSII)
!?
Are there any news about a mirroring capability on the SGS II?
...
I've been searching the net for some confirmation, that there is going to be a possibility playing games on the SGS II connected to a flat screen TV, but couldn't find anything to confirm that!
...
Are there any news???
surely if this was possible, it would have been all over the exhibitions and videos of it would exist?

Or the SW used for demo phones didn't have the mirroring properly implemented yet and the option was not included in menus.
EDIT:
I have not seen any demos where SGS2 is connected to a TV via MHL/HDMI.
Is there any previews or videos where they use that ?
No videos yet, the question of whether mirroring is on offer remans in the air.
!
Funny... cuz... The first SGS had mirroring, if this one has it not, than it is a kind a regress!
...
Sorry 4 my English.
Yep, I'd be very disappointed if this can't do mirroring, I love using it with my SGSI and would find it hard to part with (use my SGSI on the tele with BT keyboard and mouse, excellent experience, only problem is only SD-out).

[Q] tv out and xbox 360-controllers

I'm turning blue trying to figure out how to setup my flyer with an mhl-cable to the tv while connecting my wireless dongle at the same time so that I can play games on the tv.
I bought a usb-hub, and was eventually capable of connecting the xbox dongle in order to play games on the flyer. However, I can't figure out how to get the picture to the tv instead, so that I can use it as a regular console. It's either only the tv, or only the dongle (via a usb-hub connected to a usb otg-cable) that could be plugged in. Has anyone else been able to get both working, and if so, how?
I'm running stock HC, I've got a nokia ca-157 cable, an mhl-adapter and a usb-hub.
Not sure I understand what you are trying to do, but you cannot operate USB OTG and MHL video at the same time. If you need wireless you should use a router, not the USB connection.

He's trying to use an Xbox controller(corded) for games on his flyer, and output the display of those games to the TV...which as you said isn't possible.
Ok, now I understand. Correct, not physically possible.
Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
I did refer to wireless controllers that connects to an xbox-usb-dongle that is needed, since MS didn't choose to use regular Bluetooth.
I know it would be easier with ps3- or wii-controllers since they only need regular bluetooth. Though, they're very expensive, so I'd prefer trying to get my wireless xbox controllers work. But if it's not possible to use wireless xbox controllers and tv-out simultaneously, I guess I'll have to go shopping.
How about using this Bluetooth controller for $39.99.

Ok i just saw this thread and sry for hijack but are you saying i can bluetooth one of my PS3 controlers to my flyer instead of using the on screen controls? If so plz link me to some docs.

Please read the links posted above your message.
DigitalMD,
They're not available in my country, unfortunately. Thanks for your help, anyway!
casperi,
No, I was probably wrong about that one as well. Most HTC devices apparently won't work with sixaxis. Really annoying since I bought the flyer with the intention of using it as a video game console. I knew several others were capable of it, and HTC are known for good quality, so it seemed reasonable it would work. Hope Google's tablet will work better.

MHL, delays and input lag.

Hi all
Running foxhound 1.3, using galaxsih kernel, just popped my MHL cable in my TV.
Anyway needless to say its very cool. However its got a slight delay in input, making gaming a pain in the ass.
I'm using an official MHL cable, powering it with an official power pack and my tv is a beast, all post processing on the TV has been disabled and game mode has been activated, meaning that it should run as good as it can.
I think I've done as much as I can to bring the delay down to a minimum, but its still very noticeable , gaming is not very good because there is a noticeable delay, so anything that requires quick reactions is a no no.
Does anyone have any input about this? It would be superb to get this working well, its cost a few quid to buy all high grade components to set this up, its a shame that its fell at the last hurdle.
Any help would be great
Thanks.

Know that feel, bro.
I also bought the official samsung mhl adapter for s3 (int. edition). And guess what, this adapter gives out a signal of 1080p30Hertz
For real, wtf, is this, only 15 frames per second, videos are not really watchable, games not enjoyable, extreme lag on games, something that shouldnt be, but it is there.
I asked sammy bout that, they said I should send my phone to the service center cause it could be broken (hahaha -.-'') Or my adapter is maybe a faulty unit. I dont know. I have to test it with other s3s. Maybe the adapter doesnt work properly cause my phone is flashed (with system marked as changed and not official state, so I cant update via OTA).
I have to take some time this weekend to check it out, cause it would be really awesome, to play on my FHD tv nfs most wanted.

Dont be sending it back just yet, i've got several s3's in work and i'll be trying them out today, i've attempted it on my two tv's (both Tv's switched to game mode for fastest response time) A Panasonic viera 3DTV, and an LG 3DTV, both top of the line. My HD cables are gold plated high grade 2 metre cables, the MHL is also Official.
I don't believe it's the handset at all.
I think it's just a crap job done at mirroring.
I honestly don't want 1080p, i just wanted 720p, i wanted it to mirror whats on the handset pixel for pixel.
It doesn't need to render it twice, just mirror the one set ffs.
Samsung are terrible for this, there is about half a second lag on my TV, playing tekken was sh** and lagged, on the s3 it was rapid.
Does anyone else have any input on this?
Tried i don't know how many TV's and all have similar results.
Surely it can compete with the like of apple when it comes to getting your device on TV

I've tried it with omega and its the same. I also tested with different TVs, 5 in total and different cables too. 3 in total. And two different HDMI cables.
Maybe its just bad luck. I'll attempt it with another ROM.
Have you used the MHL cable yourself? What results did you have ? I'm aiming at gaming more than anything.
Cheers.

I've just received a MHL adapter, it's not the Samsung official one though.
I don't have any noticeable input lag but I can see it's always running at 30fps.
That's easy to notice while playing emulators (Sonic on megadrive/genesis ).
I tested it on my Samsung 1080p TV, it gives a 1080p output at 30Hz which I think is the maximum possible with this MHL technology atm.
So, I thought "let's try this on the 720p TV I've got downstairs, maybe it will run at 60FPS".
And... no, still 30FPS at 720p.
I was wondering if it was a cheap MHL fault and if the Samsung official one would run faster, what do you guys think? you always have 30fps as well?

Not sure what mine runs at, all I know is that it cost £27 and its nowhere near as good as the iphone one, which pisses me off as I can't stand it when apple has something over android.
That aside, I think the s3 and this mhl technology should work well, but as far as I can see, besides simple browsing and movies, gaming isn't all that good. Infact unless your playing solitaire or pool or something, its not possible. Was playing real racing and although it looks amazing, the delay is just so noticable.
Tekken 3 on epsxe was unplayable and it lagged.
Haven't tried it since the 4.1.2 update but I can't see it moving ahead a lot. Will test it again and see how I go.

Would be good to know how as the delay and lag is a killer.
Great for movies crap for games.
I found his github with the commit but the files are not similar to what we have on I9300.
I've now found that my 0anason8c Vieira runs the mhl cable at 1080i at 60hz. It is smoother. But still not perfect.

Hello
Got a Galaxy note 2, stock ROM JB 4.1.2, with samsung official GS3/GN2 11pin adapter. I have the same problem with the official smartdock and the Juice Defender 5 in 1 MHL Connection Kit.
I have the same problem described by the OP: Output seems to be 1080p.
But about an half second lag that just make games impossible to play on a TV. And that is also easy to see when I open app on the home screen.
Do you really confirm you have no delay ?
If yes I would be really interested in having the ref of your adapter.
30fps or 720p would be just fine for me if I at least I got no delay.
Note: And in addition, I can see with emulators such as N64oid the rendering is much better on my phone screen than on my TV (that's blured and pixelated), what is not the case in other apps (homescreen, video player, ...).
UPDATE 06/05/2017:
The delay was caused by a setting on my TV.
I noticed the same delay when I connected the TV to my PC. After having enabled the PC mode on the TV, the delay disappeared.
I have not rechecked with the phone and the MHL adapter, but I am now pretty sure the delay should be solved now.
Sorry for this false alarm.

Hi, I checked my cable and where I bought it but it's hard to answer.
There is just "HDTV adapter" written on it and no reference at all.
The shop I bought it from has a different adapter on the picture now, so I think they send whatever they have atm.
The price is higher too...
Sorry can't really help here.
I also suspect different TV can have more or less input lag with an MHL connected (and they already have different input lag natively btw).
Bad technology...
Thanks for your answer anyway.
In fact that cannot come from the TV, since my TV (like almost all) is not MHL enabled, meaning there are only regular MHL inputs.
Of course there is a small delay on all TVs, but there is a really big difference between the phone and the PC, if I connect it on the same HDMI input.
So the delay could only come from the MHL to HDMI bridge or to the phone itself.
stock kernel may help fix the mhl delay.i use stock rom with kernel and stock launcher. i do not have mhl issues. also nova launcher may cause mhl to not work
OK, but actually I use a GN2 stock ROM JB 4.1.2. Are you in JB 4.2 ? Or maybe there is difference between S3 and GN2...
