People are sending me n00dz but i can't open them! Any idea why this happens? I click the download button but it just goes for a while and then gives up. The file isn't even that big... using the stock messages app and my S3 is on AT&T.

A couple of us with modded roms are having a hard time with force closes on the messaging app and we are trying to rule out the rom as the problem.
Can someone with a stock rom please try to send a multi contact text message to see if the app closes?

I'm unfortunately on debloated stock, not stock, so can't help you most likely. Also I never send multi-destination text spam (I almost never send texts to begin with)
So far not a single person who has reported this problem has submitted a logcat...
This is a simple request that should take someone about 15 seconds to complete. I would rather start there than logcat. Especially since logcat confuses the hell out of me lol

I just tried it from my phone with 2 recipients. No force close, and I am on stock rom rooted.
Just tried with 2 recipients on Cognition and they went through fine.

Except that sending texts costs money and bothers the recipients of said texts.
Especially if it's not even guaranteed we'll reproduce the problem.
Thanks for the help.

This. I'm not going to just randomly send a few people on my list a text message.
Works fine on stock phone.

I'm guessing I somehow damaged my message app with titanium backup. I don't see how though.
Anyway to reinstall just that app?

Im trying to get Google Talk video chat to work and im having no luck either on wifi or 3g/4g and i have the 3g/4g enabler app installed as well. Can anyone help?
Any type of error message? Do you see the video icon next to your name?

No error message, I have the green video icon and when I press it, it acts like its calling and then just goes back to regular talk message screen?

I asked the same question in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19537758#post19537758 so check there also to see if any of it helps you.
Lately I've noticed my SMS/MMS Notification Sound gets cut off in the middle of playing.
I'm using the "Whistle" notification sound. It worked fine the first day I had my phone (today would be day 5 I've had it)
I've tried restarting the phone, choosing different tones, fixing permissions, clearing caches. So far nothing seems to be working
It looks like it gets cut off when the screen lights up from the notification.
Anyone else having this issue? And if so, have you found a fix (besides using a 3rd party messaging app like Go SMS). I have the Sprint variant, stock rooted (LF9)

Yeah I had the same problem
But it only happened when my wife would text me
I did the same fixes as u did thinking that would work, but it didn't so I erased that contact put it back in and now it works right
Good luck
Cheers

Wowwwwww you know what? It only happens to me when my girlfriend messages me lol. Wtf? That's so weird! Maybe it has something to do the most frequently messaged person? Gunna delete the contact and test.
Thanks!

It does this If you set a limit for incoming texts and have auto delete on. Erase all the messages when your at the limit and it will go back to normal again

Oh that makes sense. I had my auto delete set @ 120 SMS. So I'm guessing what happens is once the thread hits 120 and you get a new SMS the notification gets interrupted by the system deleting the last message in that thread to make it 120.
Well this is all very helpful. Problem solved. Thanks guys!

Another work around for this is to use zedge to assign your sound. For whatever reason, it bypasses the issue and the sound fully plays when a new message comes in.

when i text someone, there response is above the messige i sent them. How do i fix this?
Are you using the pre-installed messaging app?
What version android are you on? I've never seen that before.
Also you might want to change your posted photo because it's showing someone's phone number.
Is your phone clock correct? If yours is a few minutes slow you will be under someone with correct network time.
Also you might want to block out your contacts number in the picture. I doubt they want random phone calls

I have the same error also. I ended up reflashing my rom. If you find a fix, let me know.
Its your clock. I have this issue sometimes lol. Set the clock to the right time.

I believe going to Backup Plus and deactivating it will work. If not you can try this:
Go to your my Verizon account, remove all email addresses from your vz backup feature in "manage email settings", hit apply. You will then get a text saying VZWUEP: DELETE. This confirms the texts should stop.

Thats the way I got mine to stop when I first found out how to shut it off. Maybe see if you can turn the entire feature off or try Googling and see if you can find a new way. I havent disabled it in quite a while.

I just downloaded a SMS blocker that seems to be working. I don't know very much about the guts of the device to go in and change a bunch of letters and numbers around just yet. So I done it the easy way. Thanks for the advice though.
I activated Verizons manage safe guards settings but when I tyres to add the 6250 # it would let me because it wasn't a ten digit #

The trick, although i know you will hate to do it. You actually have to call Verizon and have them remove backup completely from your account. I do so much flashing i would get this all the time. That seemed to turn out to be the only fix. The text is from the server asking they phone, Hey are you there and do you have time to update your backup file? When they turn it off at the server, it no longer sends the remote assistance request.
There is something that can be altered to stop it from happening. I'm going to try to get in touch with the dev who did it and see if he'll tell me his secret.
