I've been runnung CM roms for quite some time bos.
I cannot get this figured out, CM10 installed (clean install, cwm 5.8), systeem sounds and notification sounds are working but sound in movies (self recorded or internet) is nog there.
I tried changing many settings but without any luck.
Of I revert back tot my CM9 backup all sound is working fine again.

Have you try new CM10 by pershoot at droidbasement and new gapps-jb-42
I flash both, install mx player from play store and everything work well.

So basically, I installed Foxhound ROM 1.4.1 (XXALE8) with Siyah kernel and from then I have had no sound on outgoing calls (from my mic) and no sound either way on incoming calls.
After reflashing, wiping, restoring Nandroids, flashing different ROMs and everything else I could think of. There was no fix apart from going back to Stock.
If i go back to the Stock ROM then sound works 100%. I can root and install a custom recovery (via gs3 tools) with no problem and audio works perfect. But as soon as i install a custom ROM it no longer works (even ROMs which i could previously install fine).
I would really really appreciate any help at all that people can give or if anyone else has this issue if they can post so we can try to find the cause of the problem. I have found a few mentions of this here and there on different ROM threads but by posting here someone more knowledgeable may see it and be able to post a resolution.
Any help would be massively appreciated!!

I have the same problem, however I was on stock when it happened. And it JUST happened for no reason after a call. Nothing helps. Really nothing. I've flashed custom, different stock roms, reset etc etc. The modem must be damaged some how as KIES says there is a software update available, I download and install it and then upon reboot it says the same again. The phone looks as if it's connecting but after 10-30 seconds it says out or range or similar and disconnects from the network for about 10 seconds and then reconnects.
Sometimes I can hear a crack sound for a second before it fails to connect a call.
Everything else works perfectly.
Are you on 3 UK by any chance? Apparently an ota with new modem was released yesterday that fixes it. Look in the foxhound thread (I'm just relaying what I've read, I know no more than that)
Good luck guys

Hi guys, i'm from Portugal, and i have installed omni rom 4.4.2 into my Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE ( GT-I9305). I installed properly using full wipe and cleaning the cache but, after a week using this rom, the sound into my device was death. Don't have sound into notifications, calls, even using headphones, don't have sound. Already reinstall the room making all the process again, but i have the same problem all the time. Someone can help me please?
Info:
Model : GT-I9305
Android Version: 4.4.2
Omni Version: 4.4.2-20140220-i9305-NIGHTLY
BaseBand Version: I9305XXBLL5
Kernel Version : 3.0.64-CM-g659c99f

Thnks for the assist
Very strange....... have lost all ringtone, notification and system sounds
Flashed newest BeanStalk, AOKP, Hyperdrive etc and get 0, no, nada sounds. Hell, even every one of my TW and AOSP backups have no sound.........except the rom I'm currently on CM10.2 and the two backups I have for it. I've search and found some *.nomedia files and deleted those to no avail. Any insight would be appreciated! Currently using TWRP 2.5.0.2
UPDATE: Tried every combination I could think of to load/restore, but still can only get sounds out of CM10.2 Roms :banghead: :banghead:
Don't know if this is a TWRP issue or phone issue at this point. Willing to ODIN back to stock and start over as nothing else seems to
work. Will this require flashing the md2/mdk tar in odin again??? Not sure if there is a more updated way to do that.
Again - any input appreciated. :good:
problem resolved!

Hi, I have searched and searched but i can't seem to find the sollution for my problem.
I'm Running the ULTIMAROM V15.1 on my GT I-9300 since yesterday and i love it credits to the devellopers!
I have backed up the stock ROM on my laptop, did an EFS backup, went back to factory settings with a ful whipe.
Next i have installed the ultimarom, with full whipe again (ticked all three boxes) and now it's running great and fast
but with some small issues. The worst one is that my camera isn't working anymore, it gives a "camera faillure" notification, and stops.
I'm tried changing kernels, first i runned boeffla, then changed to Trebuchet, no difference, im running the stock S3 cam from
the ultima package..
Is this a more common problem, because I can't seem to find more people having problems with it?
Is there a solution for it?

Did you try using stock kernel? Maybe flash via recovery the dump of mk6? Running it here with no camera issue

Yey.. That did it.. Pff.. Breaking my skull over this for some time now..
Thought it was better to use a other kernel, turns out it didn't..
Pretty new at this, laerning every step of the way..
THNX!
I was using slimkat 4.4.2 and restored the official samsung rom 4.3 to try a mhl cable. The result as you may know is that I couldn't install any custom rom that wasn't based on samsung's after that.
Searching here in the forums I found some people saying that it was because of a layout change on partitions, others because of knox, or the update in bootloader...
I installed the twrp-2.7.1.0 recovery and tried to install omni rom with pa_gapps, cm11 etc and I always get an error for gapps (couldn't find build.prop or something...). Tried Omega v58 (based on sam) and it worked, then I tried slimkat 4.4.3 weekly and slim_AIO_gapps (advanced wipe, everything but extsd, format data) and it installed everything fine.
It's almost perfect but now I have only a small problem... when I plug the headset the audio is really bad and sometimes I can't hear anything ... I tried another kernel with the same result. Tried slimkat 4.4.2 stable, same.
Does it make any sense to anyone here? any sugestions on how to fix? flash something somewhere maybe :x
and what is the real problem after the 4.3 official update? if slimkat is working maybe we can make other roms work too.
Thank you in advance
Do a full wipe, all your previous issues were due to files left over from other firmware.
On the headset, go back to stock firmware after a full wipe. If still the same then it is hardware.

I still can't install most roms even with full wipe (gapps error) after the 4.3 official update but I'm happy with slimkat. I think maybe it works because it just copies the gapps files to android without doing other checks, maybe editing the scripts we can "force" the install of other roms too. If anyone have any info, please tell me.

Oh, I think it was just a series of bad coincidences. Tried the stock firmware and the headset did not work. Seems like my headset broke the same day all that stuff happened, and I tried the one I use on PC but it didn't connect firmly on s3 so the sound was bad too... just tried a new phone headset and it's working fine.. thank you
Hello, forum members!
I'm in dire straits right now.
I upgraded my Samsung Vibrant T959 from the original stock version 2.1 to the following:
CM-10.1.3-stable-for-vibrant and gapps-jb-20121212-signed
I like it pretty well, except for the issue described below:
I do not hear incoming calls as there is no ringtone being emitted.
When I go to settings' menu, where one picks the melody, I used to be able to click on it and then hear it right away before selecting: now nothing happens.
Moreover, when I navigate to /system/media/audio/ringtones, where the files seem to be sitting, I can play a ringtone file in a player other than Apollo, but when picking Apollo, it does not play correctly.
So what it going on there, any ideas? And how can I fix it?
Thank you.

did you go straight from 2.1 to cm10? if you skipped cm7 that can cause some issues

I sure did go pretty much straight from rooted stock 2.1 to CM10.1.3, except for the part, where I first loaded ClockworkMod Recovery from method B of rooting from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9375927#post9375927
I think, it was version 2 something. Then I went straight to flashing the ROM (did that replace the kernel as well?) and I think it had an even later version of CMR (6.0.3.6), which was installed before proceeding with the actual ROM flashing.
Any advice and/or links are highly appreciated!
Is "installing from zip" of CM10.1.3 once again safe? Will it wipe everything I already managed to install?
Should I try and install CM7 and then come back to CM10?
Thanks.

Going straight from 2.1 to cm10 causes issues. You should odin back to stock 2.1 and then you can flash cwm and then flash cm7 > cm10. Thats the recommended thing to do.
