Hello, I just received this reply from ASUS:
Thank you for contacting ASUS Service Care.
I'm sorry to tell that there will be no Jelly Bean (4.1) update released for JP SKU.
And it's impossible to install the update of other district onto your machine since it is launched by Japan.
sorry for the inconvenience and hope for your understanding.

Do you think this is true? Should I wait for a possible update or maybe try to change SKU?
Update
So following the guides on this forum I have used to ep201_sdupdate.zip method to update my TF201 JP SKU from V9.4.2.22 (Android 4.0.3) to US SKU V10.4.2.15 (Android JB 4.1.1).
Everything seems to work and I had no problems during the update.
My question now is what happens when Android 4.2 comes out? Will I receive the OTA update for US SKU and be able to update without any problems or should I download it from ASUS.com and use the same sdcard method for all future updates.
Thank you for any advice and I am sorry if this is answered elsewhere. I tried a few searches before I posted this.

Thanks.
Did you need to root prior to this? If so how did you do that? I cant seem to find a way that I can root JP V.22 without a custom recovery.

No rooting required. All you need is a fat32 sdcard and the firmware from asus downloads. Since you are already at V.22 your only choice is to go to Jelly Bean. This method only works with updating.

Why?
Is there anyone that can confirm a successful update to ICS and show us some screenshots?
Is there a way for us to get our ICS before they'll push it to our region? Can there be problems installing this zip on an other region? If that is possible.
I Tried to change my region to Mexico with all in one tool and i got a update notification for an older firmware version... but i don't want to risk to loose root forever... decrypting, costomize and resigning with All in One tool didn't work and i'm not able to flash the update with root...
As far as I know no one revived this update really. The only sign for ICS is the broken link in the upper right of the Sony select web app in some countries like Mexico.
Was this a fake post?
As soon as no one confirm a successful download or provide some screenshots & a functional link it seems it was an early bird.
The German blog mobiflip.de posted this as a news. Lol

No, I don't think so. When you look at selectApp-Website in Mexico there is the notification for ICS-Update. So it must come very very soon.
Condi posted a tutorial, how to do the update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24563264&postcount=228
But how to download the OTA-Update and how to decrypt it after region change?
I think like the same way as before with the aio change region, use download zip in aio and decrypt + root.

Ok, so first I need to run "Run OTA ZIP autodownloader"?! And then? What options do I need to select?
First you have to modify your region to Mexico and than download ota.
I know But after I downloaded the rom through the script, how to decrypt the ROM? Does the Script also download the OTA when there is no Notification for an update? A lot of questions
No it doesn't. The download happens on the device. I you have installed rescue backdoor you have to modify your build prop again as condi says.

Okay so now we have 9.4.2.22 (JP) but hope to see one for (US) soon. I wondering if ASUS goofed and now we will be able to root without unlocking.

Not development related. This should be in the 'General' section.

You don't need to unlock in order to gain root. Thats what the other guy meant to say.
ask mods to move this to general section. then find or post a changelog for .22
ASUS always releases the JP firmware last out of all the different versions. They always have a slightly different version number (rest of world had .15 JP had .17). The only reasons are translation and handwritten character to text support.
There will be nothing new that the rest of the world does not already have. Changelogs for both WW .21 and JP .22 below:
Code:
Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 Firmware: V9.4.2.21 Only for WW SKU (Android 4.0.3)
V9.4.2.21 Release Note
1. Upgrade Google Mobile Applications
2. Upgrade Vibe version
3. New browser function which able to keep user’s choice of browser viewing type
4. Enable battery usage data in Settings.
5. New display mode of HDMI output
6. Enable press-able notification in lock screen
7. Support Wi-Fi Ad hoc mode
8. Add new system bar lock function

That's all folks!
EDIT: Can we put this nonsense to bed now please?
@OP: If you check the ASUS site so regularly, why is it that you were unaware of the differing version numbers between previous JP and WW, DE, TW, US etc... (read: rest of the world) firmware releases?
EDIT 2: CAN A MOD PLEASE MOVE AND CLOSE THIS THREAD, AS IT SERVES NO PURPOSE AND IS OBVIOUSLY IN THE WRONG PLACE.

Do you mean that the 9.4.2.22 can be rooted as the 9.4.2.21?
My eeepad Transformer is delivered last weekend, with the 9.4.2.22 (upgraded in store?).
But i don't have any clue how i can rooted this. I've read about downgrading, but isn't this a bit risky?
ps Only thing i want to run is SwitchME to have multiple users option... :$

You have't kept up then. You can downgrade your firmware now if you're on .21. This will allow you to go to a prevously rootable firmware, root your tablet and let ASUS push the .21 OTA to your tablet. Once in .21 use OTA Rootkeeper to restore root.

Can anyone provide instructions or let me know if it is possible to downgrade from rooted ICS back to HC?
I am having some issues with apps I use regularly that are supposed to be ICS compatible but aren't working very well after the update.
Thanks
not possible
I have always heard this is impossible.
Your best bet is to contact the app developers.
Perhaps you can..using rescue-backdoor and changing your region to one where ics isn't been released yet (Europe)..but before doing that I think you should wait for condi's reply..

Well as far as I have seen after changing to ics u cannot change the region back coz it will brick ur tablet and this has been faced by many people here in this forum aftter they have changed the region after they have upgraadded to ics
So, the AiO tool isn't compatible with ICS yet.. you have to wait for an update

You can downgrade it. With custom ICS rescue-backdoor is already included.
Just boot into recovery and use correct 3.2.1 stock firmware.
Then you can root it again (of course if its not 'kernel #10' fw).

must wait for custom if unlocked.
Once you unlock, you will no longer receive OTA updates. And you won't have to "wait" for a custom ROM. Rather, AOSP ROMs often preceded Asus releases by months. For example, there have been several Jelly Bean ROMs in the developer forum since early July. Who knows how long the wait will be for jelly bean from Asus for the tf201?
You won't receive an OTA update, but you should be able to manually update through asus's support site http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=20&s=16&m=Eee+Pad+Transformer+Prime+TF201&os=32 under firmware once Asus posts it. You can download the firmware zip and extract it to the root of an external microSD, the stock .28 software should detect it and ask you if you want to install it. Note this will likely remove your root. There are some apk tools that claim to be able to keep root through update, but I'm not sure it always works. Look to see that your method is confirmed working before attempting, because otherwise you may be stuck waiting for another root tool in order to restore root access.

If you do that with an Unlocked Bootloader you will end up with a bricked Prime.
Your best bet is to just wait for a JB Stock based rom from the Dev Forums once they are available.

Not to challenge your knowledge, but this is how I went from .21 to .28, and had no issues... is this abnormal or is there some implementation in .28 that would cause a brick?

Not my knowledge, you might be confusing Unlocking with Rooting, which are 2 different things.
Taken from the dev forums:
Option 3
Do not, I repeat, do not try to flash a stock ASUS ROM/blob file.
Doing this you will most likely hard brick your Prime.

If you went from .21 to .28 you are likely only rooted.
You should never, ever try to install a stock Asus firmware on a unlocked (UNLOCKED, NOT ROOTED) Prime.

Its possible to run one of the Stock based roms with an Unlocked Prime, but you are not going to receive OTA Updates nor be able to flash Asus Stock files.
Hi everyone.
My euro gdpr gt2 pro OTA updated to version .21 the other day but I'm now having connection issues. They all started after that update. Is there anyway to downgrade to .19?
You can use the A.14 package to downgrade, and then install the A.19 OTA:
[Global/EU] Collection of firmware files
Since a lot of people is asking for firmware files, OTAs, boot.img, I decided to collect all the resources here, so that it would be easier to get what you need. First of all, you have to identify your ROM version. It is not the scope of this...

Yes, you have to disable the Internet connection and clear data for the Software Update app to manually install an OTA file, otherwise it will find the latest version online.
