HI Folks,
Most of you will be aware of the Samsung Dive account where one can track the location of the phone and remote wipe it etc.
I am aware of other apps on the market that replicate some of theses features but haven't found one that allows the finder of the phone means to contact the owner to return it.
What I would like is the lock screen to have a "phone owner" facility as well as the emergency call button.
I like to have the phone locked to prevent unauthorised use should it go missing but its doesn't help an honest person who might find the phone to return it.
Anyone seen an app that has this function?
Or make an app to do it, I would pay for an app that could do it.
Thanks
Del
Bump..Anyone?

Why not try using a 'low-tech' solution & putting your contact details on a sticky label on the back - or a note between the phone and case. Remember your phone might be found by an old dear who doesn't even know how to turn it on!
Come to think of it, you could also use an invisible marker to write your house number & postcode under the battery (and on the battery) - this is one of the first things the police will look for if they recover your phone, or come across someone with it in their possession in 'suspicious circumstances'.
Well that made me smile, yes a perfectly good solution to the problem, and i will be doing that as it would still work even if the battery was dead
Would still like the over engineered solution too if its available or if anyone is making a security app for the phone to incorporate it as a feature.
The app called "Android Lost" lets you place a note saying whatever you want it to. You can also trace it with GPS, set an alarm etc.

oooh, will check out. ta
ok, that didn't work for some reason. wouldn't enable. "FaceLock for apps" works fine free ver limited to 1 app and market/settings etc.
I used it more than a month ago, i was able to select every app i wanted to 'facelock' this may have changed with a recent update though.
Sorry i cannot help you further.
You could try typing face unlock or something like that into the market.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I still use Visidon and it lets me face protect any app I wish, I did have to do the 'face training' before it would let me enable that feature though, I have been using it for a few weeks and there hasn't been a recent update that I have noticed.
maybe it's an ICS thing, or the density i run the phone at. either way, it wouldn't let me enable it
i'm in work tonight so will give it a shot again.
Maybe there are fixes for my issues. As I am new to android I'm not sure how to get them corrected. Here's a list. Maybe someone can land a hand.
How to keep screen on while on a charger.
How to make the GPS turn on and off when app starts and finishes.
How to set so it can detect a known wifi source, then activate wifi.
How to get the long lasting battery results everyone seems to be getting.
How to set the email app to open to the emails versus the screen to select which account to view as I have multiple accounts set up.
How to keep the lockscreen front turning off 3 seconds after I hit the wake button but not swiping to unlock.
That's about it for now. I come from an iphone ecosystem and am used to a few features my JB iphone provides. I'm sure ill have more "how to" questions.
Thank you all for the responses!

Screen setting to never off. And honestly, why the hell do you want the screen always on while charging? I charge mine when I'm not using it.

Stop doing stupid **** on your phone. Your battery wont last 20 hours if you use if heavily. Don't tell me your icrap did either. My wife says battery is ridiculous on her Skyrocket compared to her icrap 4

Depends on what email app you are using. Also, click the little icon in your notification dropdown. Brings you to the mail just received
How to keep the lockscreen front turning off 3 seconds after I hit the wake button but not swiping to unlock.
dunno... doesn't bother me. It takes me less than 3 seconds to come to a decision on what the hell I want to do
How to resize the widgets
What launcher are you using? Touchwiz only lets you resize certain Samsung widgets.

Sounds like you are very new to Android, so you have normal questions. First thing it to figure out what the settings for your phone do. Theres always the Samsung forums for asking about your specific device also. I'm not sorry if that all sounds harsh. It was meant to. icrappers turning Android annoy me. There's an amazing app called Tasker that will do a lot of your wish list. It's all about contexts - e.g. "on external power" "App {x} is in the foreground." It's the best ~$6 you'll ever spend, and never want to have another phone with out it. Almost all of it's awesome functions work without root, too.

Thanks for the support. If I came from a walled garden, then why would I expect these functions that should be so easy to do. I have gone through the settings and came to the conclusion I needed help. Hence this post. If you can't help, I understand. Not everyone has that type of intelligence.

Juice defender is a placebo...
I bought it when I was on eclair... it made a difference there... though not much
However froyo up... android does a better job on its own...
Think about it... running a program that is on all the time to "save" battery?
Sent from my MB508 using Tapatalk
As to you wanting the lockscreen to stay on longer, there are several lockscreen replacements you could use. I'm not sure which ones have the option besides widgetlocker though. With widgetlocker, you can set the lockscreen timeout to various durations. I know it worked on my infuse, not sure about the note though.
The downside is that it costs a couple bucks and it will drain your battery a bit if I remember correctly because it keeps the device in a wakelock and does not allow deep sleep. Its not a huge battery drain, but it does some. However, if the timeout is more important than a tiny amount of battery drain, I suggest doing that.

I have noticed an improvement using JD and that's actual not placebo. I get your point though on an app that runs to save battery. But whatever its doing, its working better than whatever I'm doing without it.

It's not affecting my battery life at all. I used to use avast anti-theft; I simply replaced that with this one.
dang that sucks...I missed it by less than a day...that is kind of messed up though when you say something ends on that day it is usually 11:59pm of that day not 12:01am of that day...I call shenanigans.

switch phones?
I did this when I had an atrix and recently purchased a SGS2. Does the license transfer to my new phone when I download the app from Play?
This sounds A LOT like the built-in Samsung Dive service... Except you have to pay for a subscription.
EDIT: For more information click on the link in my sig for ShishirROM... I think I have the only ROM that has Dive still built-in. It supports nearly everything Cerberus supports and it's free and built-in to the phone.
I was just looking at this app in ROM manager
They tout it as anti theft app but honestly this app gives unprecedented access to your device from the web. If you, like most people here, rooted your device via an exploit, you probably have an insecure boot.
You know with that situation someone could hijack your phone while you are using it and hide all their processes in the background so that they never even show up. Like a Trojan on a PC. This thing can make phone calls and send text messages from the web, how is that added functionality?
It would only take one wrong touch and this app could totally destroy your device...

I've used this app since it was first released, before it was available on the Market. Perhaps I'm naive, but I think that using good, standard security practices should keep one safe from what you envision. I only access the web interface from known, secure computers and I use a very strong password. Cerberus also has options to install it as a system app and to hide it from the app drawer.
Hey everyone
Hoping there is a dev out there that wants to take this on.
Simply put I'm looking for an app that will auto reboot my watch at a certain set out in the app
For example. Just a simple app that allows me too set at 6am everyday my watch reboots.
Anyone?

Rebooting automatically probably requires a rooted watch. What do you need it for? There may be another solution if you are trying to solve a problem by rebooting.
Nothing that's too major. I just find if I don't reboot my battery life slowly gets worse.

You could try apps that automatics tasks, maybe macdroid or IFTTT,
