Guys I am on omega ROM v31.
I flashed previous to this codec ROM.
Now I see AOSP browser Cwm and Wallpapers which I got when I flashed codec ROM as write
Protected in internal SD card.
I am unable to format them.
In Windows as well as Linux it says write protected so unable to format.
Please please help me friends.
I tried everything but my internal SD just refuses to format.
And same error with external SD card.
hi
have you tried to delete them via root explorer ?
*don't forget to set read\write permission
Tried but it says sd card doent allow to change permissions...
Root the phone boot to recovery mounts and storage format cache system data and preload .
#Flash stock rom .
Or use one of the many wipe tools posted .
jje
I am already rooted and I am on codec jb rom right now...
Just a query..
Can I use mobile Odin or do I have to do it by PC method...
I actually didn't understand what you meant by wipe tools and how to use them...
great...Thanks...
But how do I format extSdcard...
That solved internal sd issue.
But external sd card still says unable to format.
Write protected...
Format ext sd via a card reader and windows as FAT32 .

Try formatting it with MiniTool Partition Wizard Home edition... please backup the data first and PLEASE PAY ATTENTION which disk you'll be formatting... If you choose the wrong directory, your PC harddisk will be formatted instead of your extSdCard...

Hi all,
I've accidentally formatted my galaxy s2 internal storage to NTFS file system ( I want to format the external sd .. )
Now my s2 ( with CM9 and Syah kernel ) of course can't see the internal storage....
There is a way to recover my internal storage ??
Thanks
Reformat the internal storage in your phone, or with PC format in FAT32, or in CWM select format internal storage.

Hi cvrkimi,
I bumbed over a site with some instructions similar to what you need, only they are for a Galaxy Nexus. You could try finding similar.
Here's the link http ://www.droidforums.net/forum/galaxy-nexus-development/209149-backup-sd-partition-using-dd.html
Cheers,
Stefan.
Had the same issue now back to normal..

I took like 6 hours to figure this out since i had the same problem but its very simple to solve. To solve this just use odin software and reinstall back to the orginal Android OS (in my case 4.03 that i installed). Follow the mentioned instruction below in the site that xda doesnt let me provide the link to. Look for this title in google How To Download And Install Official Android 4.0.3 ICS Update On Galaxy S II Right Now and follow it
and you'll be back to normal.
Doing this should reset everything, install the new OS and redo the file system format by converting the accidental NTFS - FAT32. phew

U mean the internal memory? U won't need to format it m8, just delete what's on it and just flash over whats left.
No need for a format, there probably is a section in there to format it though.

Usually with rom i used cwm to format but by sgs3 this is not possible or i wrong
It is very safe and will keep your system clear. I tried. No problem

In some versions of CWM, the internal sdcard and external SD (emmc) are flip-flopped. In order to format the internal SD of my galaxy s2 using CWM, I had to choose the option to format emmc. If I chose sdcard (which should represent internal SD), it would have formatted my external micro USB. If you have an external SD, just remove it before trying this procedure so you don't wipe the wrong thing (I have made that mistake).
Hello I saw he video how to change int sd with ext sd so the phone thinks it has more space and so on... The truble is I need to format sd card to fat 23. And life does wonders - my card reader suddenly stopped working and I cant conect it to pc and format the card. Any way to go around that? Maybe there are apps that can do it in the phone? if you are rooted you could try to format the card in CWM, not sure though if it is 1) possible and 2) if it is then formated to Fat32 or the system you had on it before.
You could also try to connect your phone to your PC and format it that way.

Hello, ty for taking the time to answer, but i tried both of those things, both in pc and cwm i can format, but i cant select how to format, i dont know if it formats to fat or to fat32 or to something other. Besides after trying to format i tried to use the int to ext sd swaping (the thing that i wanted to do in the first place and the reason why i need to format to ext 32) and it didnt work so i believe that formating without selecting TO WHAT to format doesnt work.

Many people would recommend "exFAT" file system, also some would recommend "FAT32" but due to the limitation of the file size, i won't recommend it, "EXT4" is good, but may not be a good choice for SDcard if you wanted to view the files on the PC using a "SDcard reader" one day, your sdcard then would be limited to read only, so you have 2 options:
1-format it as "exFAT"
2-just put it in the phone, Reformat the SD card with your phone Settings --> Storage/Storage & USB The file system on the freshly formatted SD card is the type that will give you the best performance with your phone.... in other words....(let the phone choose)

As i told you, Individual files on a FAT32 drive can’t be over 4 GB in size, but in exFAT it has no limitations, if it worked good for you in phone or pc then it's fine, if you faced any problems reformat it to FAT32.
