hi,
Evertime i try to update my S3 to JB i get an error stating that bij battery is almost empty, while it is at 100%. I've tried reinstalling KIES, i did a factory reset on my phone and neither of the 2 helps. anyone else got the same problem or knows a solution?
Try flashing another ROM/firmware

my phone is not(yet) rooted, i wanted to check out JB first to see if that smoothens it up a little
Battery stats normally reset after a week or so of use .

I have tried searching this problem but found no solutions. I have a non rooted phone and no warranty so can get any thing replaced unless I know the specific fault.
I got a message from Samsung wireless kies to update to ics 4.0 so did so. Their phone installed the software perfectly with no faults that I could see. However I the battery drain was off the scale. I switched the phone off and charged it. After a full charge I left the phone switched off and the charger out the phone. The battery is contentiously draining and after a few hours i will be dead. So the phone is completely off but draining battery (I have switched it off properly).
Now also I get Sleep Of Death on my phone and the phone is so hot its ridiculous. Someone please help me as its my pride and joy and I have done a security wipe and still not helped.

What firmware version do you have?
Check in settings menu => phone info => version, and dial *#1234* into your phone.
PDA = ROM (and kernel) version is most important.
Maybe you have to flash another ICS ROM version.
Here you can find official firmware versions (non-wipe) => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
You wrote that you have already done a "security wipe".
What do you exactly meant be that?
Have you done a factory reset (wipe data) in recovery mode?
I would recommend to wipe cache partition in recovery mode (press Volume UP + Home + Power button until recovery menu appears).
If the battery drain is still remaining, install Better Battery Stats app (=> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809) to find apps, which prevent your phone from going into deep sleep.
Here is a good thread with some nice battery saving tips => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16973603
Good luck !
1: Factory reset using the code
2: flash different modem using Odin.
3: flash some other stock ics using Odin
4: flash your GB again using Odin and let it update again and hope it won't happen again.

Same problem to me, a factory reset (which means wiping all your data and settings) will gives you better battery life.
In regards to the questions I have
PDA:19100XWLP7
PHONE:19100xxlps
the firmware was is on 4.0.3
build number IM74k.XWLP7
I will try to flash the phone using the sammobile website. However Iam having issues with odin as it wont come up with id com just static will fix that first then give it a crack.
P.s I have done a factory reset and still no luck.
Hi. i have got my s2 since 10 months and no hassle. however since yesterday, the screen wont turn off and i could not make it turn on again using the home key. finally it completely switch off and i could not switch it on(neither soft or hard reset helped).
I just left in with the wall charger. nothing on the screen but once the battery was full, it vibrated and i could switched it on. it worked flawlessly for the day but now while i was using gtalk, same thing happened and i could not switched it on.
what could be the problem? i am an international user and bought the s2 from unlocked-mobile.com.
kindly note that i made no tweaking nor any custom firmware nor installed any new software. i only reecntly removed go launccher.
kindly help me please
if download mode works then u can flash ,or in recovery mode factory wipe.....yes forgot does it show charging batt icon ,wile charging?
Charge battery .
backup data factory reset phone ..
That fails try another battery .
That fails try Samsung service centre .
Or try download mode and flash new stock firmware via Odin .
jje
ok will try flashing ics. but why would this happen? what is the cause of such problem?
ok i did flash the ics and still the same problem. help me plz
Sounds suspiciously like the "Sleep of Death". Been discussed at length in dozens and dozens and dozens of threads here.
thanks. but why suddenly i am having this?
i have not installed any new kernel, firrmware or programs.
I dont understand why people with stock not rooted phones comes here and thinks this is samsung service, since it is purely stock..go to the retailer or call samsung.

(For stock, non rooted)
1) Backup all your data, photos etc.
2) Under settings , look for factory reset. (This will wipe all data)
3) Setup your phone etc but dont drain the battery flat.
3) Charge phone overnight ( With phone turned off )
(Rooted)
1) Go to CWM
2) Factory reset , wipe cache partition , wipe davilk cache
3) Turn on phone, let phone settle for at least 5mins
4) Setup your phone etc but dont drain the battery flat.
5) Charge phone overnight ( With phone turned off )
If all else fails... reflash another rom
Your situation is very similar to my friend's S3. Her method was painfully charge it to 100% before she unplug the phone. After that it was working fine. It's probably due to the battery stats. I think her phone's battery stats kinda screwed up after the JB update. Anyway she managed to solve it.
The battery stats will reset once charged to 90% (if I remembered correctly.) Maybe before doing all of above, you can try to charge your phone to 100% and see if there are any problems after. There'll probably be people who will tell you to wipe battery stats on CWM but pls dont listen to their [email protected]#$.
Just try what i suggested and see if it helps.
Cheers

Hello all here.
First to all, im sorry if I explain something badly but im from Czech Republic and know english mainly from games.
Im experiencing/fighting problem with my phone as title stay's.
The problem is that my phone randomly but every day freeze (or like "stuck") while screen is locked, doesnt react to any button. Only help is removing battery and putting it back.
After one month one troubling i decided to try find help here before i send it to warranty, I purchased stock new phone, the seal warranty wasnt void before shopping.
The biggest problem to me is that Im using my phone as Clock Alarm and i fall asleep four times in one month (November) due to this stuck and came a lot of later to my work (cant allow this).
It happed 1st day when i put battery to phone and gone sleep, phone didnt wake'd me up so.
Good is (for me at least) that i have App called Battery HD because that fail so i make screenshot to show what happening when phone freeze's, IMG attached.
This is from last weekend, please ignore "nedele" it's my language as mentioned above, thats doesnt important.
You see there graph and that linear curve in battery usage.
I was sleeping and this happening everytime i didnt notice phone is stuck.
Actually i checked sammobile dot com if there is any update but i have latest FW.
Additional info about phone for advanced user's here.
GT-I9100 - Czech Republic
PDA: I9100XWLPW
CSC: I9100XEZLP4
Version: 4.0.4
I will be very thankful is there is help instead pushing it to shop where i bought it and waiting one month for service.
What i tried? Restore FW with KIES but KIES say's my phone isnt support this functionality (and yes, i have driver's installed).
Thank's and wish in solution.

Try to flash the firmware again via ODIN (Download From Sammobile.Com) or just go to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache , if that doesn't work , just hard reset the phone.. there is a app which is causing this i guess

Done wipe cache thru recovery and also i frozen App which i think doing those freezes (basicaly App's which Android allow me to stop without rooting) and running now 43 hours w/o freeze.
Following week i have morning shift so i hope it will not freeze when i will sleep ;o)
Thanks for your answer.
Hey guys,
I have been searching the threads, but was not able to find a similar problem.. I am having problems calibrating the battery of my Samsung I9300. My battery is completely empty within 3h from taking the phone from charging. I have calibrated the battery according to Battery calibration instructions, but that doesn't help. No apps are particularly draining or keeping the phone awake according to analysis (by for instance Battery Doctor, BetterBatteryStats WakeLockDetector), also since the same problem already existed with the stock rom and directly after factory reset. The problem is not ROM related, I have tried many different ones. When I place my battery (which then says 30% left for instance) in another I9300, here it gives still 88%. So I suppose the battery is fine, there is just bad communication between the phone and battery? Or maybe it can be a hardware instead of software problem?
Hope somebody has an idea and can help..
Thanks in advance!
You don't calibrate the battery .
The battery self calibrates after a week or so of use .
Suggest format in recovery sdcard system data and cache .
Boot to download mode flash stock rom via Odin .
Still a problem its hardware .

So if I understand correctly, the calibration will not finish until one week after starting the procedure?
I will try your suggestion, but I am not very confident it will work, since the problem persisted from the start (when phone was still in stock ROM).
If this does not work, what could be the hardware problem? Then I can already search for some information on ordering the necessary parts..
Thanks!

>>>No it depends upon phone usage .
