I am from India. I got a Samsung galaxy S3 a gift from a friend and he got the mobile from Thailand. I applied for the 3G connection of airtel India. But despite using all the settings and workarounds the service providers told me, I am still getting only Edge connection but no 3G connection.
Is there some internal module or something missing in the phone for which this may be happening?
Or by any chance, is it because that the phone is bought from a different country?
Thanks in advance.

GT-I9100 will NEVER get better than an Edge connection (shown as an "E" by your signal indicator) on T-Mobile USA's network, because it doesn't have the hardware to receive the right frequencies to do so. To get 3g or faster speeds (shown as "3G", "H", or "H+" by your signal indicator) in the US, you will need to be on AT&T's network, or another carrier that uses the same frequencies.
Hello guys,
Am in Nigeria, Africa using MTN carrier
but my galaxy mega 5.8 duos never connects to 3G or HSDPA service, its always on EDGE and whenever I turn network to WCDMA only, the network goes completely off and sees no reception, when I check other devices like my blackberry or SG note 2, i get the 3G network.
Please what could be wrong, have read all through forums but didn't seem to find a good answer or solution.
Also whenever I tried to access the service mode through *#32489# it doesn't work
Will be awaiting your responses
Gracias
Hey all,
I recently moved to New Zealand from the United States. I have a Galaxy S6 edge with US Cellular (SM-G925R4) running 5.1.1. I was under the impression that I would be able to use my Galaxy S6 edge here because it is unlocked and because i'm under the impression that there's GSM Antennas in my device. Is this accurate? I took my phone to Vodaphone and Spark, and neither company was able to get it going, although all they did was place a SIM card in it. It just kept saying 'Searching for Service' and had no signal bars at all.
Does anyone know what I need to do to get my device working here?
Thanks in advance!
Alex

Us cellular is a cd ma carrier. That is likely why it won't work in new Zealand.

Try Telecom. They are CDMA, Vodafone is GSM
Hey guys,
I've just got this Galaxy S3 which was bought from m:ts Serbia and put in my Telenor Serbia SIM card - everything worked fine, i could make calls and everything but I realized that it could only establish an EDGE connection and no HSPA or any other 3G connection. When I select WCDMA preffered, it still only gives me EDGE or no signal at all. I've tried installing Cyanogenmod but no luck, the problem persists.
Hi, I'm new here.
I own Universal Unlocked Samsung S10 Model # SM-G973U1 purchased directly from Samsung. I originally activated it on the Boost Mobile network and Ive decided to switch to AT&T prepaid service. I find out that the SM-G973U1 apparently wont utilize the AT&T Wifi Calling (Per: AT&T Forum). I was informed I'd need the SM-G973U.
I'm also not sure if I'm even getting the 4g connection (My phone shows LTE, LTE+, H, H+ and no connection).
I believe I have bad cell reception in my house.
If I were to install the SM-G973U firmware onto my SM-G973U1, would this solve my problem?
Will my phone still be an Universal unlocked phone?
If I choose to switch back to the SM-G973U1 firmware should I be OK?
Would I need to do the same if I were to switch to T-Mobile?
Would I be better off switching to T-Mobile?
Any other thoughts about this topic I should be aware of?
Thank you for your time.
Robert
