Android app for a small business

I'm looking to create an app for my deli/restaurant and I'm a chef that knows my way around android but nothing on this level. I want to hire an app developer to create a basic app with my menu, specials, Facebook etc. WWW.Faldonis.com is my website (don't laugh at the website... I told ya I'm a chef) to give ya an idea of the menu and feel of my place. I will go in to more details once an app devolper PMS me.
Thanks,
Chef

Its better to have an amateur website than no website at all. IMO, you'd probably be better off developing a decent mobile version of your website. Everything you want can be done through a smartphone browser pretty easily. Plus the same website will work on Android, iOS, Blackberry, etc instead of an app which would work only with one OS.
I can do it
Hi, my company develops android apps,

Yeah this is what a dev just pmd me. Makes more sense to have a mobile friendly app. I think it would be neat to have an actual "Faldonis" app that opened the mobile version also. And yes... even though my website isn't easy on the eyes... it does have almost 40,000 visits to the home page
which like you say is better then nothing.

Begginers Tips on Developing

I don't really know if this is the right place, but this is as general as it gets. I've been messing around with my Xperia U for a while now. Modding ROMS and such. And when I mean modding, I mean very superficial, like just rooting, deleting unwanted files and stuff. I'm also fresh out of high school and I have quite alot of time before I go back.
So, I was hoping to really get to know the android system. It's always intrigued me. Is there a tutorial on creating kernels and developing ROMS?
Also, when you try to port CM for example to a phone. How exactly do you work towards fixing the hardware problems. Whats steps do you exactly do?
Option "Search".

Thread moved. As you're asking questions they go in Q&A however this isn't really device related but anyway you want to head over to XDA-University which will give you all the learning tips you need.

Thanks for the links.
One more question, suppose you're making a port of a rom from one device to another and if some of the components like wi-fi dont work. How do they make it work? Do they have to make drivers from scratch, or they find it from somewhere. I mean, I ask this, if there are no sources made available by the manufacturer.

[Q] Note 2 Multi-window help!!

Hi, okay so i have a non-rooted Note 2, and i've seen videos in which people has some apps (such as twitter, kakao talk, facebook, gmail.. etc) in their multi-window tab but i don't have them in my multi-window tab.
and also i want to know something about rooting:
Risks:
Why would i want to do it:
Do i lose my warranty doing it?
Thank you.
So I see you're new here... Prior to signing up for an account, XDA required that you watch a video about being a noob. It was well done, I recommend you watch it. If I remember correctly, one of the main points was that the people contributing to the site that make it what it is (awesome) spend a lot of time researching and sharing what they develop and find. It is in everyone's best interest for you to research your questions prior to wasting everyone's time asking the same questions that have already been answered. In your case, they have been.
But enough chastising and... Welcome!
IMO you should just assume you have to root your phone in the very least to apply a majority of the customizations here. That may not be the case all of the time, but it applies often enough. Xda University might have answers to your questions there, otherwise so some more searching on this site.
There are multiple options to your question about the multi Window. Here is one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028535. Note that you must be rooted.
Always assume that everything voids your warranty. I don't know if it is necessarily true with regards to rooting, but that's because you can remove the root. If you brick your phone, assume the warranty is void.
Final recommendation; stay logged on to XDA and subscribe to the Galaxy note 2 forum. After a day or so of cruising around you will have enough information to make your head explode. You will also appreciate the folks that contribute to the site, specifically by user name as you realize how much work they invest in helping the community.
Good luck!
Alright thank you very much, I'll root my phone ASAP. And sorry for that haha

No worries! There's a lot of support with rooting your phone. Although it's a bit scary at first, once you're done you'll feel a lot more comfortable monkeying around with it. After you root and have either Clockwork Mod Recovery, or TWRP recovery installed (part of the rooting process), back it up immediately before playing with any of the Mods. Part of the process usually involves getting into a boot loop. Doing this will save your blood pressure and lower anxiety levels.
I know I'm a little worried about rooting because I just bought my phone so I don't want anything to happen to it lol but yeah thanks for everything.

You don't have to root for get other apps available for multi view, there's a write up on android central and YouTube video that walks you through altering the apk file to make it work in multi view, I'm just out searching to see if anyone's already done it and posting the apks

Yes i did that but neither kik messenger nor twitter work. So i just rooted my phone, did a backup and installed a ROM called Jelly Beans, in which you can usa ALL apps on the multiview and is also pretty cool. Thanks though.

Tizen vs Android

Hey guys,
I have checked out some other posts on the site with similar themes. I still wanted to ask from a dev stand point why tizen over Android? Or why not? I have been learning programming for some time now with the goal of Android in mind. Now that I am to that point.. Tizen? HTML 5?
MY QUESTION IS.. Do you think that the OS itself is superior in ANY way to that of Android? Anything from a development view would be great most of the info I have found on it just says it needs more apps and other than that it is not bad but not specifically good.
Thanks! :victory:

But only for one year. Its just a trick to lure devs to Tizen.
And the fact that they always keep a contest after releasing a new hardware(Gear) or software(bada app challenge, tizen etc). But, the truth, after what samsung did with bada, and its users, only the most brave and courageous people will accept Tizen and its smartphones. Anything samsung touches is total shi!storm! They dont know anything about OS, they are just a bunch of hardware making guys, and when it comes to software, they take a dump on their own face.
Leave them after 1yr
