Use odin it is far better than kies updater
forget about kies. sooner or later u'll come again with story about how it bricked ur phone. use odin+samfirmware instead.

I have a new (unlocked) galaxy ace with the same problem. Kies just says "this version of the device cannot be updated".
But I thought the GB update was out in Europe already??

I'm looking for unbranded Irish or Europe firmware.

Hello people. Could someone point me to some firmware that is up-datable with kies and unbranded without vodafone intros and stuff.
I did look around here and on sam mobile but cant find anything suitable.
The phone itself came stock with csc LUX and a Luxembourg firmware I think. I'm looking for something Irish or open European.
I appreciate the help. Thanks.:good:
XXBLG8 has the CSC "BTU" which is British unbranded and usually gets updates first.

Actually whatever the latest rom with BTU is the one you want, I think there may be an update since LG8 but the important part is the BTU CSC anyway.

Did you get the phone from orange or elsewhere? You might need UK(BTU), look on Sam mobile for the btu rom
Latest is LJ4 (4.1)

Some of the first phones that orange released did have the update option, but that was soon removed.
If you want to be 100% sure the just flash LH2 from Sam mobile then you will be fine .

Jus try to update via Kies. Download Kies to Pc connect your phone via usb cable and whent its connected search for update. This is the easyest way. After u will be in 4.1.1 Just try this maybe helps.

Yes , it should be an 'Unbranded' one thats all
see link below for the same ma8
Stock JB firmwares (4.1.2)
PS- Some times u have to change the CSC if u want future OTA updates from ur Region when on a diff region firmware
Also see to it that in Future u wont create 'Multiple' threads for each of ur issue, instead Edit the same thread/Title/Post.
I saw the link u ve sent me..
But do i hav to root my fone before tht? Or just do the steps shown there is sufficient??

Yes, use Odin as instructed and you should do fine.
The spanish version and any other versions would definitely have English language.
The CSC Changer app requires root permissions to work. Just follow the instructions, that's all.

That thread is about the differences between releases.
We got battery threads all over the forums.
Take a couple of hours and read what other users experienced.
Battery drain is always settings related, If we'd had a magic app that would stop battery drain you'd know about it.

That's Kazakhstan unbranded ROM. How do I know that? I went to the same place you went.
Notice that if the ROM listed has got "( )" right next to it, what's inside is the ROM's carrier brand (E.G Vodafone).
You'll get future updates yes, via OTA or kies; it depends.
