Cannot get HTC Evo 4g to recovery - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I try and boot it into recovery I can get to the FASTBOOT screen. In the FASTBOOT screen I do as I always do and select BOOTLOADER. In the BOOTLOADER I select RECOVERY and it takes me back to the FASTBOOT menu everytime!!

What Recovery are you using ? What ROM are you running ? You should be able to get into Recovery by powering down the device all the way. The hold the volume down button, and at the same time press the power button. That will take you to the HBoot menu. You can select Recovery from there. Use the volume keys to go toggle up or down in the menu. The power key to select.

how many times have you been into the recovery screen? Did you just root it?

Boot in to CWM

Sorry if this has been discussed.
I've recently rooted and installed the BAMF rom. But I was wondering how I can boot in to CWM from a powered off state. I can through ROM Manager.
Thanks!
Hold vol-down as it boots (make sure there's no P10whatever.zip). Then select "recovery" and you'll be in recovery mode.
Hold the volume down button while holding the power button. That will take you into HBOOT and from there you can choose to boot into recovery. Just hit the down arrow once you get into HBOOT and you can choose - Recovery (hit power button to accept).
Perfect! Thanks!! My problem was I still had "P10whatever.zip" and it kept trying to update.

I cant turn my phone of

My Phone is stuck in a bootloop after installing the artic rom...its still looping and won't turn of.
I installed the thing where after you install a rom you boot into recovery but the rom skipped it even tho i installed the zip after i flashed the rom aswell..

You can turn off the phone by pressing simultaneously

My phone is in boot loop right now and when I hit power and vol down, my phone with continually vibrate for about 5 seconds and then the screen goes out... but then it just boots up again
You can try push volume down button (and keep it pressed down)
at the same moment that screen goes out, maybe you can reach
AP Fastboot-mode in this way?
Well I can get to the menu for AP Fastboot
But im at work.. i dont have the file or RSDLight here at work.
But I can get to the recovery and it gives me the option for "factory reset" or "apply update from SDcard".
If I have a backup from bootstrap, can I use that file under the "apply update from SDcard" option?
EDIT: No you cant apply from SD (a recovery)
I think that yuo can't use backup from bootstrap via Motorolas recovery...
Maybe only way is install correct OFFICIAL Motorola ROM via AP fastboot.

Here is also good RSD alternative for flashing:

you close but it goes against what he just said. Once ur device powers.of press the volume keys then hold the power button ...it'll put u in recovery. You then need to scroll down twice I think to fast boot and press the up key to select....
You can only go down in this recovery. When you press up it selects. You will then need to follow a.vid on YouTube called how to restore Droid RAZR

Hello.
Turn on your device while holding the volume down button, then press volume down until you see "Android Recovery" and select by pressing volume up.
Gotta press down button to cycle through the options. Press up to enter that option

[Q]Newly unlocked bootloader, won't boot to recovery?

I just unlocked my bootloader and flashed CWMT recovery but whenever I try to boot into recovery the phone simply boots back into the factory Rom. I've tried turning off fastboot in the Rom settings but that didn't seem to help... Any ideas?
Edit: alright I can boot into recovery but it's under factory reset for some reason.adb Reboot recovery doesn't work.
Turn off fastboot. In settings.

Did you try to manually go into recovery?
- turn off phone
-press and hold volume down then press power button until the phone boots into bootloader
- use volume buttons to scroll down to recovery,
- tap power button to select recovery
and it should boot into your custom recovery

That's when it happens. I'll try manually booting into recovery, but it just ends up booting normally.

I've tried both restarting in bootloader and powering down and turning the phone back on in bootloader. Both times, from the bootloader menu, when I select recovery it goes the the 'htc' screen with 'entering recovery' at the top for about 7 seconds then goes black and boots normally.

when you select recovery and it goes to the white htc screen, at the very top does it say.. "entering recovery" ?
If not, you might try using fastboot to push a custom recovery to your phone again...
If it kicks you out of recovery as it boots into it, go into the bootloader, fastboot, and run 'fastboot erase cache' on the computer. Of course, ADB has to be setup first before running that command. I've had this happen to me a few times already, and 'fastboot erase cache' always made it work again.

Recovery Mode when unlocked

I can not boot into recovery mode on my unlocked S7 since I need top press power to get past the warning, but that only works if no other button is pressed, and I then boot to the system not recovery. I've watched multiple youtube videos and read up nothing seems to work as you need to hold Power and Vol+, yet you can not do this with an unlocked boot loader.
ERIC
You need to hold it through that warning.. so soon as screen goes black press and hold power and vol+ until you see recovery screen.. or u can use adb reboot recovery or if rooted theres apps that can reboot to recovery or even from magisk manager
