[Q] Galaxy SIII ROM - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've tried alot of ROM's but all of them never really do the trick for me. I would just like a ROM that is ofcourse fast(er) and has a long battery life.. based on the latest jellybean version. Also I tried Foxhound and in the upper right corner there's a white pixel line... is it the software? or just me?
Ive tried Foxhound, CM 10, Supernexus,... Does anyone know a ROM that would fit me?

Do NOT post threads asking which the best ROM or kernel is
jje

To be honest mate everyone has there own favorites. Its not really allowed to ask which is best as it could cause heated discussiobs which is not allowed.
But my advice is try out different roms and flash different kernels as its mainly the kernels that will determine the battery life.
But also the reason why its best not to ask is because everyone is different. Some users are really heavy duty users for faming and internet. Where others wouldnt be as much of a heavy user.
Hooe this helps.

Just was reading http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/29/jelly-bean-port-passes-the-butter-to-the-galaxy-s-iii-rom-flash/
... and in-patient
Right, be patient, first the devs works for the biggest smartphones and next the forgotten =)
I hope we do get it! should be cool to see! although kernel wise it's going to be a major challenge!
always thought jelly bean would be the name of android 5 ?!
Isn't there a rule about to not making your intended question a statement as the subject title?...
i'll be honest. when I saw "Jellybean 4.1 for gtab 10.1" and it ended up being a question to whether or not it has been done... gotta admit... i get a little angry at the OP for posting something so misleading.. .

You're completely right. Changed the title by adding a question mark.
Sorry for disappointing you.
Two points.
Firstly, questions go in the Q&A section - not the Dev section.
Secondly, it's rude to sit there and ask for ETAs. If you're really that worried about getting a Jelly Bean ROM, then you're free to start working on one yourself.

Comparison of kernals

Ive seen there are a lot of custom kernals available (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27583423&postcount=3), and was wondering if there are any 'real world comparison' of these?
A lot of them say they are stable and increase battery performance, but with so many to choose from, each with different features (most of which, franky, i have no idea what they are). I have used Speedmod, but noticed my battery quite a bit worse than stock kernal, and ive just installed Siyah but too soon to tell anything...

Its not possible for testing and comparing those kernels.
Everyone has different function and yes, they do what they say, that is performance.
It actually depends on you what you want. If you want to push your phone's limit, then use one that has overclocking feature and has more stability options like Siyah.
If you want smooth performance, you can use one like Speedmode.
I use Siyah as it even gives GPU Overclocking, Audio hacks and ofcourse CPU Overclocking along with option for Undervolting CPU while still maintaining Stability.
Hope this helps choosing
I like all kernals, kernals are so funny...as you can read on my signature...

Ok, joking aside colonel it's really a case of trying them out and educating yourself as to what and how the features work, siyah has some good info links in the OP regarding governors, search will educate you about the rest..and lurking and reading on the threads will start educating you and familiarizing you with terminology etc......that's about it.....spoon feeding isn't really for grown ups I'm afraid, this forum really is about educating yourself, something that is clearly explained in forum rules
I'm using Ninphetamin3 kernel. It' still okay. Nothing much to brag about.

[Q] What ROM ?

Hi,
I'm sorry to ask that but I don't really have the time to search among all the ROMs available. I'm looking for a ROM based on the official but with some optimisations.
Does anyone know a ROM like that for S3?
Thank you.
For example I used NeatROM for SGSII once.
Sorry but you need to do the reading yourself, and if you don't have time then you really need to make some

Hum, so helpful. If you don't want to help me that's ok but you could just no answer me.
Just pick any rom in development section. No need to read a lot, just read the instructions

OT: People here will mock you as questions like this are frowned upon and possibly against the rules!
God you're just so puerile.
I believe you didn't read the OT part..
You will not get an answer as best ROMs threads are against the rules..
P.S.: You question insinuates that we have all the time in the world..so be careful about what you write..
I use fox hound 1.4.4. This one is best for me but not for everyone.

Except that I never asked what was the best ROM. And I'm sorry if you understood this, that was not my intention.

I know what you are trying to ask..but even then Optimization is a subjective term, what would be highly optimized for me may not be optimized for you. So no one can answer this question other than you..
If everyone starts replying to your question it will lead to an unprecedented flame war....
You just need to read the OP of 4-5 ROMs..all the ROMs have the optimizations listed in the OP itself along with screenshots...It will not take you more than 15-20 minutes..
I hope I am making myself clear now!
Please flash and see which best fits your needs. As you can see, threads like this do not turn out well.

smootheststable cdma rom

Hey guys, my friend has an evo 3d and he is having trouble with crashes etc on stock. He asked if I could root his phone for him. Could you throw out some suggestions for the smoothest most reliable cdma rom for this phone. Keep in mind, after I flash the phone he will probably never update the from so make it a good one! Thanks.

Nearly all the ROMs in development section are stable unless they are labled alpha. If he wants to remain stock, a master reset is probably needed.
I'm running Paranoid Android 2.52 and it is amazing. Great ROM and best of all its Jellybean. The only thing I've found wrong with this ROM is the 3d doesn't work. But 3d on phones is lame anyhow. Kinda a gimmick more than anything.
Android Revolution or MeanROM. I wouldn't recommend any others as ultra stable and fully working, as I'll assume if he's anything like my brother, it's going to have to be perfect... Otherwise he'll never let you near one of his devices again.
If he's on Virgin Mobile, go with Harmonia.
I do not recommend flashing any kernel other than stock either, unless you are positively 200% sure it will never break down. Stock kernel as I have seen is the most bug free (although definitely NOT the smoothest, not by a long shot).
Make sure you tell him what you're doing if you decide to flash a custom kernel, and do NOT under any circumstances over clock. If he accidently touches something and ends up at 1.8gHz and performance governor, (while he may come to you to try and fix it) he may also end up obliterating the hardware on his phone.
I only know from past experiences.
So to end on a final note.
Enhanced stock is really the only way to go to ensure ultimate stability. And unless he is going to flash ROMs himself, that's my opinion.

Screen On-Time

Hey everyone,
I just came to the M8 from the Nexus 4 and it's been great. I've gone through the whole rooting procedure but haven't flashed any custom ROM on it yet. I tried to look for this information around the forums but I couldn't find anything about it. Is there a way to get Screen-On time measurements in the stock ROM? Or is it a feature on a custom ROM? Thanks everyone!
There are various apps that can provide this.
Screen on time is something that has been removed from Sense for some time now (since maybe Sense 4+); and I believe Android in general (so I assume GPE ROMs won't have it, either). Although more "modded" or feature packed custom ROMs may have it (CM, etc.). I'm mostly a Sense user, so I can't say for sure.
I have Better Battery Stats which works without root I am fairly certain. The apk is floating around xda but I went ahead and paid for this version on the play store to help support the developer, as it is an app well made and one I use every day to check my screen on time to gauge battery performance

I had wonky times with BBS (however unrooted, so that might have caused it?), but found GSam battery monitor to be pretty good.

Thanks everyone! I'll definitely give these a try and see how they work out for me. Sense has been such a nice ROM for me performance wise and looks wise that I didn't want to go to a aosp based ROM.
