Is there any modified mms.apk with other look and font?
I like stock SMS app which is IMHO better than crap like Go SMS Pro and Handcent fulfilled with plenty rubbish features.
I found this:

but it is for GB only

There are plenty of threads on themes and fonts for the mms.apk in the themes section of XDA... Just scroll in no more than 3 pages and you're bound to find what you're looking for!
An example, simply searching mms.apk: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827793&highlight=mms+apk

Hey I'm wondering if its possible to have the stock android messaging app on the our SGSII? I really dislike the samsung one, hate the bubble colours and the text compose style it has, been using hand cent SMS instead but I've just been wondering if its at all possible to install the Stock android one instead.
Thanks
i have the same question... anyone?
Hi,
You can install a Custom ROM based on AOSP like Gingermod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220283
It contains the Android messaging apk and then you can customize it by adding the Samsung apps you want.
Cheers
Have you ever considered Go SMS Pro, it's a much more featured app.
Its available on the market for free.
Yes you can, check out this thread:

hi all
im playing with cm7
its awesome - bit faster than kj2
but i loved the functionally of the phone app in touchwiz
slide the contact to call or message , search bar on top instead of having to click through options etc
is there a way to get the phone apk .. i heard it relies on the TW framework
if so
then is there another phone apk i can use ?
thanks
The TW dialer will not work with CM. Look for dialer's in the Market instead. There are several choices.
E.g. Touchpal or Dialer One.
Touchpal:

Has anyone come across a ICS themed Mms.apk that works on CM7?
I like the simplicity and small size of the stock mms app, but it's pretty plain. I know I can use Handcent, Go SMS, etc... but I'd rather not.
Not sure if this theme has a themed Mms.apk as there's no pics of it, but it may. Here's a link to it if you want to check it out... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310925

Hello,
I bought an XPERIA U for my gf, she likes the phone, but as many girls she dislikes the theme/colors of the icons/apps.
The SMS icon is "ok" but when you go in its very sober and dark, and she wants something bright like in iOS, so I browsed the appstore and found SMS GO PRO, which is doing well.. But this app sends spam text messages now and then. So i'd like to find a way to have this standard text messaging app to do bright, by applying another theme?
or do I need to put a custom rom on it? for it to be bright?
If no custom rom is needed, which theme do I need to install (i'm very noob on this for the moment). I get my nexus 7 24th of september than I can play a bit more with android ^^
Thanks in advance

Try Handcent Sms mate
I wouldnt suggest you playing with ROM's just for a "brighter theme"...
Search for ilauncher apk, it resembles the iphone launcher.

Root phone and get themes from /system/vendor folder... Decompile one of them and replace pictures... Compile and copy to /system/vendor... Think this is enought for you. (maybe you will only need open apk with winrar or 7zip and replace pictures in res folder of theme)
BTW. Icons will be the same as in original theme.
That is all. the 9? options are very limiting. They should have picked a better 9 themes.

you could just edit the messages.apk and make it how you like and don't use the themes, to add more themes you would have to add code, and most themers would probably just edit the stock one for simplicity rather than add code everytime someone wanted something different.
