good day, great to be a newbies here. may i ask if there's a chance that my phone, a philippine made android phone named my/phone a858 duo android 2.3.6,gingerbread, can be upgraded to android 4.0 ics or more. the company have no action on there customers/clients request. as a local brand user, im hoping that you could help us on this, and personally, i think i can count on. you, once help us rooted our phone...successful, android os next. thank you, and again advance thank you too.......mccoy

It's possible, I am using this Rom Xperia S cooked for A858 Duo. If you know how to update cook ROM, just download it and using CWM to boot into recovery mode and choose "Backup and Restore, next restore". It's android ICS 4.0.4

I will try to make this as simple as possible. The phone of my friend was soft bricked
he was on 2.3 and tried to install a firmware that was not for that phone and he did not manage to install it
when he tried latter the motorola thinghy told him to Update the firmware and transform his 2.3 to a 4.04
HOWEVER his phone was not booting normally he would need to enter to bootloader and select NORMAL POWER UP
tried to find out the origin of the phone and was difficult to understand his firmware is somenthing like
672.180.41.xt910.02.en.DE
so i followed the guide

and everything when fine until i tried to install the EU OTA
obviously this is not a EU phone....
is it german for the DE at the end?
some guy in another forum is mentioning that maybe this is the razr developer edition (????)
at any rate what i need to do is to install the original OTA but i have no idea which oe can be ..
funny enough if the phone is powered off would automaticly turn on and boot and stay in motorola logo.
any help would be very much appreciated

You shouldn't really do this if you don't know how to use Odin or flash your phone.
But here's the guide:

I can't paste links yet since I havent posted much on these forums
I flashed the firmware and it did work like many others, but I had some issues and it seems that the update broke my internal storage, so I'm not really recommending to do this unless you know what you are doing
and you should definitely do some research (before posting) , do some reading (before flashing), and last but not least - if you are aware of misclicking something with the flashing...just wait for the official realease of 4.1.2 for your country/provider

I change android for tablet imobily SG007 with stock room as they write but when iam done tablet is dead wont open again and cant change android because computer don't feel him as normal as Preloader and iam new here cant make a post so can u help plz :crying:

Pretty sure I read somewhere that the plan was to just roll straight into 4.3 for the S3 phones sometime in December. Not sure if it's true or not, or what S3 variant(s) are getting the release.
