Fix for Status 7 problem in CM 10 FXP 145 - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I decided to create this forum because I saw a lot of people posting complaints regarding Status 7 error in the CM10 development forum. I don't know whether making a thread here is even the right thing to do but I am doing it all the same just because I want to help. I would have personally posted this on the thread but since I am a new member,I am not allowed access to post on the development thread.
So, getting down to business, even I had the same problem. And this is the simple fix that I did .Dunno whether it's the right thing to do but it worked for me and again,I am just trying to help -
1) Shut down your phone by pressing the power + Vol Up button together
2) Boot into fastboot mode and flashboot the .img file put up as attachment along with this post
3) Fastboot reboot
4) Go into recovery as usual and flash CM10+Gapps from SD as mentioned in the original post.
Hope this helps. This is my first thread btw,so please excuse any mistakes that I might have made. :silly:

..or use the Advanced Stock Kernel 16 by Arkamar!you can flash it via CWM or Fastboot. It will always work.it did for me!

[Q] [RECOVERY] Updated ClockworkMod for ALL ROMs Rate This Thread

Hi guys, I was trying to flash new ROM via CWM. However, cwm wasn't able to read the zip file saying something about script is not supported blah blah blah... Browsing thru xda forum, I found out that this problem has caused due to the cwm version(recently updated to cwm3.0.0.8) , or at least I want to believe it this way. So lastnight I ended up finding a thread started by jt1134 which I basically helped out lots of ppl who were struggling with similar problem as mine. But the thing is when I was trying to download the files, cwm-recovery-ALL.zip and cwm-recovery-ALL odin. The download links were broken giving me an error message. So guys, if anyone has the files I beg of you to share it pleaseeeeeeeee.
to shorten it down, the link is broken, I think. So if anyone has the files I beg of you to share it thank you..............
Hello jjalhjy
I will make this easy for the both of us!
Direct your browser to this link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999802
Once there scroll down to the 5th post (#5) where I linked both the page you referenced (broken links) and a link to a working download of the ".tar" file (was earlier! ).
If you need the .zip file scroll down to post 9 (#9) where I have linked it.
A quick guide to getting you flashed.
*note* I am assuming you cannot use .zip files due to the incompatible script error! This is for using odin.
1. Put phone in download mode via the power menu if on superclean. If not turn off the power, pull battery, plug into computer, hold "down" on the volume rocker till the yellow triangle "download" screen appears
2. download the ".tar" version of cwr all
3. Launch odin
4. Click the PDA button and search for the ".tar" file and select it -> then hit "ok"
5. Run the file in odin, wait for the phone to reboot.
6. put your battery back in and test recovery mode to see how it looks!
*whew*
good luck!
Wow that was a fast reply! Thank you! A quick question tho, 1. Do you know if I have to uninstall ROMmanager and delete update.zip file in my sd card before I even start flashing via using odin. 2. After following your instruction step by step, and let's say if it works. Do I still need to download ROMmanager? 3. I remember reading someone's thread in xda saying it is always necessary to flash new cwm after flashing a ROM (I always have it done using ROMmanager but now things have changed, obvisouly. So yea, how would I flash new CWM after flashing a ROM from now?
Sorry if these questions sound so newbyyyy hehe and thanks again!

It is advised (so I have read) that you should not use ROM manager with the Fascinate. While it is a powerful tool, it is just not 100% Fascinate friendly yet. Also I have never had to remove/mess with the update.zip on my SD card. Heck as far as I know you can delete it after using ODIN with the new cwr-all.

No. I would use the Development Thread here in the fascinate section for your ROMS. ROM manager is just not made for us.....yet!

I personally have never done this. To the best of my knowledge (and real life experience) cwr-all (red version) is the current and most up-to-date version (for the Fascinate). Once I ODIN-ed over the cwr-all I have not updated it once. You should be fine to flash it and flash ROMs as you please!
Dude, thanks A LOTTTTTT

don't take offense to this, but I think if you're asking questions like this about a pre-alpha, you might just want to hold off. Or just use on of the Kangs and flash with CWM.

I installed CM9 ([ROM][GT-P7500] CM9 KANG (ICS Preview) ) on my Galaxy Tab P7500 just yesterday evening, and so far I'm REALLY impressed by the performance and functionality.
I had some problems during the process and I thought I could share my experiences with you and give a short briefing on how to flash this stuff.
SHORT REVIEW
The ROM is superb. Even though it's half way there with some unimplemented things, the speed of the browser, the font rendering and overall look&feel make it impossible to return to honeycomb.
TESTED WORKING
1) OS in general
2) 3G, WIFI
KNOWN NOT TO WORK
1) Camera does not start
2) Some Trebuchet(CM9 launcher) menus in the settings not yet implemented
3) Screen rotation animations start with a blank screen
WHAT I DID
I started with rooted 3.2 Stock ROM and a battery 75% charged. I don't think rooting the tab beforehand is necessary, as you're going to overwrite the bootloader with CWM anyway.
1) I used Odin 1.85 and flashed Clockwork Recover Mod from Droidbasement, they even have the Stock IO recovery available there too!
- You need to power down the tablet, power it back up and hold both power and volume down buttons when the "samsung galaxy tab 10.1" logo comes visible
- Press volume up button to choose "Download mode"
- Start Odin on your computer, and select the Clockwork mod recovery file in the "bootloader" field
- Connect the tablet using the USB cable, Odin should recognize the device
- Press "Start" to begin the download
2) I transferred the four files listed in mabalito's thread to my tablets storage root folder
3) I booted the tablet to recovery mode
- (Power down, power up)
- Press volume down and power simultaneously when "galaxy tab 10.1" is visible
- Select recovery mode by first pressing power down, the pressing power up
- Select Wipe dalvik cache from advanced menu
- Select factory data wipe from the main menu
- Select apply update from sdcard
- Select apply update from .zip, repeat this step for files 1) GT-P7500-CM9-KANG-020712-maba, 2) GT-P7500-CM9-KANG-012912-maba-kernel-modules 3) Gapps 4) GT-P7500-CM9-KANG-maba-voicesearch-fix
4) Reboot the tablet, you should see the CM9/ICS bootscreen (it hung quite long there for me for some reason, and I got a bit worried, 15mins waiting just did the trick)
5) Enjoy! The ROM is awesome!

not sure why people aren't giving you a direct answer but here:
you don't need the recovery.img for that to work...i just tried it.
all you need to do is to go into the update.script in the zip file, and remove the line that says "get assert" or something like that with notepad...save....put back in the zip file (you may need to first unzip it for it to work....then re-zip it again.)
hope this is apples for you!

Accidentally flashed the wrong clockworkmod recovery to my Galaxy Note

Hi,
I accidentally flashed the wrong clockworkmod onto my phone (brushed the wrong phone type). I'm still in the booted up phone and am afraid to reboot it. What's the best way to fix this screwup? Ideally, i'd like to either flash stock recovery without undoing phone settings or install the proper clockworkmod recovery, which I can't find on the phone list. Here are my phone specs:
I'm on android 2.3.6 kernel 2.6.35.11, build GINGERBREAD.UCLA1.
Thanks!
Battery pull, go back to download mode, flash the correct CWM. The new/correct one should overwrite the old/incorrect one.

Noticed the "CWM" thread above. Downloaded the ZIP file and installed with Odin. How would I verify that I now have the correct one installed?
Yes Flash with Odin. I am using Beta3 and all seems well with it. No FC's as of yet.

I DID flash the recovery-i717-cwm-b3.tar file. The I tried to execute a backup from the app - it was so fast, i could tell it didn't work. I rebooted the phone and used the menu system in recovery mode to do the backup. I also noticed that the recovery "menu" was much shorter than the one in my Skyrocket. Is this CWM ROM just far enough along in development to work properly with the app? If this is the case, what functionality should I avoid using in the app?
John
Most if not all of the functions work great so far. No FC here. Remember, Its still in beta stages but its coming along.

Wrong CWM recovery on LG Vortex
I used ROM Manager and flashed CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7 to my Vortex running 2.2.1....now I am stuck in recovery after attempting to flash CM7, but the Home button (or any other button) will not work to select the highlighted option. I am doing research to see if I can find some kind of option to fix my mess up but it is not looking good. I had to take out the battery, hold volume up and power and home while i plugged in the charger just to get into recovery because i was stuck on the splash screen. If anyone can provide assistance on this I would be very appreciative.

due to many different variances and carriers of this device, it is just a bad habit to get into o follow threads for a wrong device. even flashing files from different variances can be catastrophic.
may I ask or suggest maybe there are multiple carriers for your device and simply have a different model# ? that would at least get you closer to the center of the dart board.
although XDA is high on my list as far as trusted developmental websites, there are several other forum communities. maybe you could run a search for that if you haven't?
I will help if I can and plenty others will. again, even though problem may be similar, the solution may not and I am sure you know these device aren't cheap. I would hate for you to take your phone o beyond repair.

When i select list of devices, my device is not there
when iselect last option 'device not listed above' it asks 'xt1033 is not supported, have you installed a clockworkmod based recovery manually?'
if i select no- its says 'sorry until xt1033 is supported..............'
yes and select the one - 'rom manager has been set up to use your existing recovery installation.'

Installing pre-rooted ICS image on unlocked bootloader

hello guys ..
first off, i have researched enough on these forums and found that there are many different ways to root the phone. each procedure is different and there are like 20 different images available.
and i'm a total idiot when it comes to dealing with the procedures mentioned here in the forums. i can't make any difference between .img, .sin and .ftf files. to me those are just extensions. what they do and which file to use, i have no sense with all that.
i have already unlocked the bootloader on my xperia s that had gingerbread 2.3
i have been suggested to upgrade first and then root the phone. for that i will have to re-lock the bootloader and there's a lengthy topic on that. plus, the warnings that scare me to death. it is specifically mentioned that i may end up bricking my phone if i re-locked the bootloader. the procedure for relocking involves downloading several files and doing lotsa stuff.
can't i at this point simply install a pre-rooted ics image and get up and running with a rooted ics xperia s?
which ics system image is best to load? should i download the one available on google docs? please for god sake, give me a step-by-step tutorial without using the jargons. dont worry about the beers, i'll definitely buy you a couple of beers whoever helped me out.
on a side note if u wish to call me names or tell me go change my diapers or something else, i'll do that later on. but please help me first lol. i'm a stupido playing with stuff i shouldn't be playing. but i want to learn and root my phone. my bf challenged me if i dare root the phone without bricking it .. so yea, lets see if i can handle this stuff. i really want to ...
***i'm really sorry for posting questions in the general forum. could a mod please move this thread to the q&a forum. appreciate ur help***
could anyone help me please? i'm waiting since the above post. been hours and i'm still stuck here with a phone that keeps restarting. my only options are the fastboot and flashtool. can someone give a link to the rooted xperia s ics image please? and also list the procedure for flashing the image on my phone in this situation? a million thanks to anyone who can help me ..
with unlocked bootloader, just flash any ICS firmware and the flash a custom kernel like SXS or SSpeed, those kernels autoroot your phone
hi yakandu,
you are a very experienced person on these forums. please help me with step-by-step tut. please include links to which ics firmware i should download and use. consider me a total idiot and please guide me. i have spent more than 48 hours and the phone is still off. god knows how many imp calls i have missed. i just wish that the phone is up and running with a rooted ics firmware. please help me sir.
should i download this firmware? http://xdafileserver.nl/index.php?d...STOM+ROMS/KA+Xperia+SSpeed/Android+4.0+(ICS)/
is that KA09_Xperia_SSpeed.zip a firmware or something else?
if yes, should i download that file and also the kernel associated with it?
please guide me.

ever got into a book store? searching for a book on a particular topic but then u find 20 such books that relate to the topic? which one would u choose to go with? perhaps you should start reading all those 20 books and decide which one is the best for u. you could do that if you had loads of time to spend but if u had less time and your knowledge on that topic is zero. what are u going to do? you are going to ask someone who is knowledgeable.
its not about spoon feeding. its all about newbs like me who don't know nothing about this mobile world but still wish to learn. there is so much information on these forums that newbs can easily get confused. there are tens of different articles that provide loads of information but what can i do if there are like 10 different ways to root a phone. there are like 50 different roms, images, ftf, sin files and kernels and what not. i've read so much on these forums but all i see heavy techie words and jargons that are simply out of my understanding.
cant blame anyone for my little knowledge but just sayin that its pretty easy to get confused and do something that a newbie should not do. nevertheless, i'm sorry if i acted lower than your standards .. remember . i talked about the diapers .. guess i shud go get a new one cuz i've pissed myself enough in these last two days ..

1) Flash the kernel:

open up fastboot.
does that mean shut down the phone, press and hold the volume up button and then plug the usb cable to computer. the blue light lit up and then i can run that fastbot command?
where do i keep the kernel files? should i put them in the fastboot folder?
and i dont see any kernel.elf file in the sspeed kernel folder. there are 3 folders: customize, meta-inf and system folders. no other files in the ka09_xperia_sspeed folder.
i'm pretty confused .. please help.
edit: should i use the flashtool to flash kernel?
i mean, i can fastboot the phone (blue light lit)
then i can run the flashtool (64 bits) and then flash icon .. fastboot mode .. and then click on "select kernel to flash"
is this what i should be doing?
Use this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729280
Download ics11 for fastboot.
Put the file in fastboot folder.
Open adb and type (fastboot flash boot ics11.elf) and enter then while the phone is off press vol up and connect the usb.
Edit: I don't know if you can use flashtools with fastboot mode to achieve the same thing cause I never use it for fastboot mode.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23181182#post23181182
There's a section there on flashing custom kernel, just scroll down. Just download fastboot drivers and fastboot binaries if you haven't yet. And instead of the "Xperia_SSpeed_kernel_v2.zip" download the "kernelv2.elf".

hi ronin, no problems .. i've already installed the ics11.elf kernel. is there any difference between the two? is ics11.elf better or kernelv2.elf is better? are both pre-rooted or will I have to root the phone after installing either? i read on that page ics11.elf is autoroot. i guess it means the phone will be rooted automatically after installing ics11.elf, please correct me if i'm wrong ..
Install any app that need root access like adfree...
You should see a superuser app in the drawer.

[Flashing][recovery] 4ext recovery + instructions

this guide is for peole who jus cant get s-off or just need the 4ext recovery but cant get it because of bootloops etc
this gude also assumes u have installed have android sdk to the root of your computers C: driv
1. Head to http://www.htcdev.com/ruu/PG8610000_...2fs_unlock.exe
2. Follow the steps to unlock your device. Then, reboot into Fastboot.
(by pressing the power button on your phone and you should see Fastboot USB. If you don't, just press the power button when Fastboot is highlighted.)
it's time to push a recovery.img.
1. Download http://animeondroid.host22.com/recovery.img = Thanks 4ext team.
2. Once that is downloaded, place the recovery.img into your adb location (at C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools).
Now if you're not using a 64-bit OS then you won't need the ' (x86).'
3. Okay. once the .img is in there then use the command prompt.
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
4. Press Enter. This will change the directory to your adb location.
5. Now power your phone into fastboot in the bootloader once again. Just hook your phone up to the usb and then go into the bootloader and press power after it loads. You should see Fastboot USB.
6. Type in:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
If you're recovery img isn't named this, then rename it to recovery.img, it's easiest ^>^
7. Then hit enter and the phone will be flashed with the recovery.
8.Boot into recovery and enable smartflash so tht even though youre s-on you can flash any rom/kernal
EDIT: tell the recovery that your device is actually s-on by turning smart flash on
This is done when you install recovery and answer the question that you are s-on with "yes"
You can also change that setting later on via RecoveryControl -> Recovery settings, or by editing 4ext.prop manually
Recovery will autodetect any changes done to "boot" and only attempt to flash your boot partition if it was really changed
for me incase of updates or broken inks
Also rawr im a dinosaur tht is all XD
I just bought the app lol

This thread belongs over in the E3D General Forum along with mpgrimm2's guide that includes the same information and more in this post.
Also note that he links directly to th 4EXT website for the download of that recovery instead of some third party site. The recovery.img file for 4EXT is also available in the OP of the thread for that recovery here on the E3D Development Forum.

No, there is a reason for the sticky that says to read first before posting in the development thread. This is just a guide that belongs in "general" unless you add something that you developed yourself. No one is trying to flame you, its just crazy how many people post here and they did not dev anything.

Hi,
I tried to flash your 4ext file over my cwm but now neither works. If I choose RECOVERY in the fastboot I only get the greenHTC onwhite.
HOW CAN I REPAIR MY RECOVERY to either of the two?
Is there some way to download a whole ics stock rom that I could either run from bootloader or from cmd?
Thank you all.
Link not working
http://animeondroid.host22.com/recovery.img link is not working, can someone provide an alternative or a mirror link please?

You can get the recovery.img version of 4EXT Recovery in the downloads section of the OP for the CDMA thread, but it should work on GSM models as well.

Hey guys this is the only thread I could fine that I could post on that was relative to my problem. I need help, I recently downloaded 4ext recovery on to my htc amaze 4g i dont know how to use it, and I just wanted to get back to my regular phone with its original settings. I have tried and tried but whenever i restart it just keeps on going back to 4ext recovery mode, how do i get back to my old regular system settings, I have a backup so any ideas are welcome even if it means deleting all of my stuff. thanks guys really appreciate it!
