Hello all,
I'm a bit new with the Rezound, I was pretty experienced with the DInc2 and DInc before it, but I'm wondering something, I've looked around a bit, so apologies if I missed a thread, but I haven't found a straight up direct answer.
I have the latest ICS leak installed on my phone, I haven't rooted or s-off'd the phone just yet.... so what I need to know is:
1. Do I need to be S-OFF to flash the GB RUU so I can get the OTA when it releases?
OR
2. Will the phone still pick up the OTA with the leaked version of ICS since the leak is still an "official" build etc.
Hello, i'm also looking for same info, only i'm like a super noobie, I have an RUU, INSTALLED the HTC sync, which failed saying "waiting for boot loader" and that's all she wrote. So I think I need to do something to the boot loader, only what i'm not too sure.
Thanks.

Good question, not new to htc, I came from the tbolt, but if I run the latest ruu as a .img file through hboot, how would I get back to the stock gb rom that's currently on my rez, or will I be able to accept the ota while on the leak?
from my knowledge you will be able to ota to the release as long as it is a higher version that what the current leak is.
and if that fails you could s-off then gb ruu and then ota up.
I would like to go back to a nandroid backup of GB ROM that I had before I updated my firmware to the latest ICS leak. I can get it to restore & boot up, but I have no access to my sd card, so I have none of my apps. I feel like I've tried everything - nandroid helper, old firmware fix - but I don't know what to do next. Any suggestions?
In my trials to go back to a ginger bread RUU based firm ware, the process gets stuck at waiting on the boot loader, the phone is apparently not recognized. It is also not seen by the HTC sync.
the boot loader has been locked I don't know what to do next. It doesn't appear I can flash anything from fast boot menu.
Thanks for reading this far.

Technically you will need s-off to PH98IMG back to the January OTA or alternatively restore a nandroid, using con's nandroid helper and ....

Disable or uninstall HTC Sync for this. It interferes with the process. Some missing information; what is your current firmware?

Hello and thanks for your time looking into this.
I am on ICS Leak - and need to go back to GB - the thing is good but the battery is atrocious and it heats like anything.
So I went ahead and put the thing in boot loader and then ran the RUU after exiting the HTC sync. Now I am getting Error 140 - Boot loader version Error.
Ah the pain this phone is causing
I have one more question: Do I have to do this every time I want to go back to a previous backup (one that I did prior to updating to the ICS firmware)? If so, I'm wondering if it wouldn't just be easier to go back to GB firmware......
Ver Change for Error 140 - Android SDK CMD???
According to my research - I need to down the version using hex editor via ADB Shell. Dear God !
I have tried / installed SDK/ and Java Dev Kit. No Go - is there an app I can do this on the phone itself?
Thanks

Given I cannot downgrade back from HBoot 2.25.0000 is it not simpler to wait for the next RUU - whatever that is may over write this one?

You will need s-off to revert but as of hboot 2.25 it doesnt accept flashboot commands. Kinda stuck til a patched hboot gets released if you took the 5/7 leak.

Thanks for looking into this - so my option is to wait for a patched hboot 2.25 or wait for another RUU with an Hboot higher than 2.25.
I was wondering if I could install CWM recovery - and just flash myself an GB ROM. My issues with this ROM are overheating and battery chomping. I wonder if that will be helped with a GB ROM - supposedly more mature and efficient. If this can be done can you point me to a thread?

I am only 1/2 a noob cause I did this back in June - I rooted & installed CleanRom. I am 98% sure I did not go S-off, I am not sure what firmware I am on - Screenshot attached - hope it is helpful. The recovery software I have RA Revamped Build: RA-Vigor-v3.15, I thought I started with clockwork mod, not sure where this came from.
I would now like to try NILS Sense-less NeoMAX 2.0 [ICS De-Sensed 3.14.605.12]

Actually, from your baseband version, you're on gingerbread firmware.
So you can either flash NeoMax with an old firmware patch, or update to ics with a RUU.
I recommend updating to ics firmware.

Yes update to the latest ruu first. It will make things so much easier. Be aware that you need to get everything off you phone before you start the process, it will erase everything except for what is on the external sd card.
And yes this qualifies you as a full blown n00b. Sorry.

yep, as stated by other memebers you are runing GB with ICS firmware patch. which is fine but your radios are out dated.
you have 2 options at this point.
option 1 is to update to the .12 ruu, the one before the global release. this will give you the ability to flash newer roms that are not built off the global release, which there are more options to flash. this method will keep you s-on and still enjoy all the wonderful roms out there.
option 2 is to update to the global ruu. this will give you the most up to date rom s, but the downside is if you want to go back to an earlier build of ICS like neo's non global rom you will need to s-off the device.
let me know what option you want and i can help you with a mini guide on updating.

I think 3.14 based roms still work on global firmware as long as you use the right kernel.
But nonetheless, it's always best to be on a rom matching your firmware.

Man you guys rock!
What reason is there to stay s-on other than it is a bit trick to achieve s-off? I think everything becomes easier once I am s-off? So maybe I should just but the bullet (or the paperclip so to speak) and do it.
ASOP looks so interesting - when that is out and stable I most likely will want to try it - does that change what I should do in any way?

So I need to flash an updated firmware, I am sorry to be dense but firmware and rom are not the same? When I google 3.14.605.10 firmware download I get links to the OTA update that would seem to be the official rom.

Hey everyone... I've searched and searched and haven't found anything that resembles the problem I'm having... hoping someone can help! I've been recently flashing the RAGE Rom and have been enjoying it... I recently updated from Ver 1.5 to 1.7 but I had a lot of random reboots. Sometimes it would reboot while the phone was sleeping. I attempted to go back into recovery and do a fresh install, but every time I attempted to wipe data/cache the phone would reboot. I basically can't do much of anything in recovery without the phone rebooting. I want to resolve all the random reboots but I'm lost as to how.
I'm currently S-On but would be willing to try to go S-OFF if it will help resolve the issues I've been experiencing. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks.

So I have an HTC Evo 3D with changed motherboard(That means that i cannot unlock the HTC method) and recendly I accomplished to downgrade it with the Ultimate Recovery Tool and unlock it with revolutionary. This means that I am in HBOOT 1107 with S-OFF,rooted and 4ext recovery...I managed to install 1 or 2 ROMs succesfully but when i tried to install Viped3D and an other one that uses Aroma and have sence in them they stuck in Boot screen...
I searched a bit and I figured out than i have to update my HBOOT...
Can anyone tell me if i am right and if i am how to do it without losing my unlock and root and without bricking my phone...
Thank You
Revolutionary hboot shouldn't be giving you problems with viper rom. you can try by changing hboot to 1.49.0007 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906172
But before you do just want to make sure that before you did this unlock method was your hboot 1.53 or an older hboot?
---------- Post added at 06:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:01 PM ----------
The reason i'm asking if you had hboot 1.53 is that most roms require the newer firmware: http://d-h.st/Mf1
This isnt a problem if in the past you had updated to ics(1.53 hboot) using RUU or official update. if you went from 1.49.xxxx to revolutionary then you need this for roms to boot

You need to flash a stock ICS based ROM
If you want to flash anything else you must get s off and change your hboot first

Hey thanks for the reply, the whole idea behind 4ext was to work around S-OFF!!. I've recovered from previous situation and running Negalite Blurom on hboot 1.58, which I've read also runs on hboot 1.49, I'm wondering if pac man ROM will do the the same??...... Thanks. Thanks for getting back to me bro.

PAC man needs 1.50 or lower
As far I know there is no way to flash anything other than ICS roms with s on.
The wire trick is not hard at all, if you flashed 4ext, you will be able to do it...
It may take a couple attempts but you'll get it

Just to clarify
Hboot 1.57 and 1.58 are for ICS
Hboot 1.50 and below will work for everything else
Some ICS ROMs will work with 1.50 and under, but there are no jb or kk ROMs that work with 1.57/1.58

coherent answers finally!!
Hey, just wanna thank you for the clarity bro.............that was such a simple, straight forward response, and it made the world of custom roms easily understandable!!! I had started to suspect that only ICS would work at my hboot, but you brought it home.........thanks again.
