I've got the exact same scenario. Any help out there?
uninstall whatsapp and reinstall, they should ask you for verification and whether you wanna restore messages
edit. if that doesnt work you might wanna try clearing the data and cache for the app
Since you're on XDA, root assumption made.
Use TB

I know this is a old post but, This happens to me alot also. All you have to do is download skype and well if you happen to have a online number with skype you can have the kakaotalk program call you instend of sending a text just make sure you signed in on skype on your phone. Also you could download a program called Hey Wire this program uses your data connect and provides your phone with a phone number . You can use that number it gives you to regerster your account.
I know this is an old thread, but it is literally the only thread about this topic in the entire web.
Exact same thing happened to me and it is infuriating.
How on earth does KakaoTalk know it's been moved? Logically this means it makes some file that Titanium Backup does not store. Where is this file? It must be possible to fool it into believing it is still the original installation. How?

Maybe installing whatsapp on a new phone and connecting it to your old phone number should work. If a backup is present on SDCARD/Whatsapp/databases, then you should be asked in the last step of the install procedure if you want to restore the old messages in the backup.
Currently, there is no way to decrypt the db.crypt files without using Whatsapp itself. However if you already have whatsapp installed, you can extract the stored messages in plaintext and show them on the PC using the

i can decrypt your chats, contact me on [email protected]
Hello folks!
I'm from Brazil and this is my first post here, beside I have been using the forum to read and get information.
I have suddenly and without reason been banned from WhatsApp. I tried to contact support but the ban remains. They said it is unreversible.
I still have the phone and SIM Card where I used the app. I also have the Google Drive backup and the local backup
The local backup is not in the phone anymore. I have copied the files to my computer. Then I have reinstalled WhatsApp with another number and a new Database is in the phone.
I can not copy the databases files from my banned number back to the cell phone. It gives and error.
What I need is to read the messages / get the contacts from the banned number. I will use WhatsApp Viewer for this but I need the key
My phone is NOT rooted. I tried to use WhatsApp-Key-DB-Extractor-master without sucess
I woud like to know if there is any chance to retrieve the backup file, specially the key
Thanks a lot!
So, first of all I have root and I'll be able to follow any tutorial.
I'm currently using GBWhatsapp (modded version) but as Whatsapp Inc. is again banning mod clients I have to migrate to the original version.
The big problem is: I lost my sim card.
I have a rooted device, Titanium Backup, etc.
Any chance to keep my whatsapp account and migrate to original version? I'm not sure if I'm being specific in my problem description.
Please, help. I don't want to lose my whatsapp number.
Any help?
I am doubtful you can keep your number without the sim card, unless you can get a replacement sim.
However you could note all the groups to which you are on whatsapp and all your important contacts and then follow the information in this link. [-you will have to google this as I apparently cant create links as I am a newbee... Ho hum..]
techbout.com whatsapp-without-phone-number-sim-5365
Then rebuild your whatsapp with a new number.
Hope this helps
Hi,
Logging into xda after 3 years seeking your help.
I am using a xiaomi poco f1 on lineage 16 without gapps/ no google flashed. Boot loader is unlocked but not rooted. My Whatsapp version is 2.21.22.26
I am looking to transfer my whatsapp to another phone and was trying to back up my my whatsapp chat to the device. But once i click chat backup and click back up, the chat gets backed up, but not sure where to find it.
Its not there Files>whatsapp>searched all folders here.
Really hope there is a simple solution.
Kindly guide.
Open File Manager on your phone.
Go to Internal Storage or SD Card.
Find the WhatsApp folder and tap "Databases".
In the Databases folder, you should see all the WhatsApp local backup files which are encrypted by WhatsApp.
Btw, the latest version of Whatsapp is v2.22.9.73. Update your WhatsApp Messenger.
