How to add console interaction to a android application - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I already have a working application, but i would like to add the ability to control it via command line. The closest thing that I have found is the java development bridge which allows normal debugging through command line. I was wondering if anyone has used the jdb for automation, or found a better alternative.

[Q] Programming Apps

Are there any good applications to do coding in that work on the Prime?
My thoughts are a notepad++ type app with color coding of tags and elements...
Currently I'm planning to use remote desktop client and do my coding on my home computer once I'm able to get my hands on a keyboard dock for the prime. It would be cool if there was native android app for programming so I didn't need good internet connection to write code.
preferred codes - html / javascript / jquery / as well as any type of android sdk
Is there anything like that out, or am I stuck using a remote desktop client?

[Q] Phone Audit with desktop application

If anyone is familiar with Speccy for the PC they know more or less what I am looking for.
I am looking for an app that does a thorough audit of a phone (Android platform) but not only displays it on the phone (plenty of apps do that). Id want it to export the audit to a file that can then be opened on a desktop application with a easier to navigate and study interface.
Currently like I said there is a number of applications that can do part of this as an added feature, but I have not seen any dedicated app to do an audit of the phone, things from programs, spaced used, network, hardware, permissions for particular programs, etc. Id like it to be as thorough as possible, but to be viewable in a reasonably ok interface on a desktop.
Browser maybe preferably for the linux and iOS users so that it isn't tied down to one Operating system.
Any ideas of something like this, or anyone working on something similar?
sorry for reviving this thread but I'm interested as well.

[Q] Multi user handling in Android on platform level

Hello,
as anyone information how the multi user environment that is available in Android 4.4 (and earlier) is implemented
in the Android platform ?
I would like to use different users to start processes or apps on an Android device. Based on the
user that has started a process I want to define iptables entries to route resulting IP traffic over a specifc IP interface.
I wondering if it is possible to start an app as a different user than the user logged in to the Android GUI.
One thing I noticed is that when I switch the user on the Android GUI I am always disconnected from my ADB shell. So it seems
that some processes are killed when the user is changed. So at first I want to get some better understanding how the
multi user environment is implemented in Android.
Thanks,
Ralf

[Q] Samba net rpc command implementations in Android API? Does it exist?

So, on most linux distributions that have samba pre-installed, there is a command "net rpc ..." that lets me run remote procedure call commands on windows systems. Primarily remote restart/shutdown "net rpc shutdown ..."
This comes in handy if I have alot of computers in my house to remotely restart, I even made a python script that parses a list of IP/host addresses and sends a restart command to them recursively.
Now, its a bit cumbersome to pull out my computer (on either windows or linux) and run these commands to give a quick restart to all my computers. Is it possible to implement some of this functionality into an android app? I've googled everywhere trying to find a implementation of this function, but all the apps that people make require some form of extra software to run on the windows PC's to allow the android app to send commands. I want to use the built-in WMI on windows machines, and not have to worry about some extra software running in the PC.
If anyone has any ideas or snippets of code, i'd love to hear it. If possible, it would be interesting to figure out how to write scratch code to construct RPC commands to send to windows hosts.
(I also have a far fetched idea of having a remote restart android wear app that i can press while in my house to restart all my computers! Taking convenience to the next level)
Bump, and I hope bumping isn't against the rules. Its just that this thread has had no views in the past 3 days.
Did you find any ressources on this subject ?
I'm search to do the same things as you, try to shutdown PC remotely from Android with help of net RPC shutdown
Please let me know if you have any Progress on this way
Sorry for my english i'm french...
I would be interested in that too

Noob questions about Termux and ADB

I am working on a special project where I am trying to use my Android phone as a data collection and compute node in an edge platform. (no need and too long to go into details).
Anyways, I am an android noob, but I recently got a flagship samsung phone and I have gotten root access. It seems like I was able to successfully get root access in Termux app and in ADB.
I have been able to run nodeJS, which was one of my goals, and I have been able to use clang++ from termux pkg repo and compile and run basic c++ apps. I have more questions and more things to figure out, but I will just jump into the main ones.
What are the main differences between using ADB and Termux? Which has more native performance? What is termux under the hood? It's described as a terminal emulator (kind of confused by that description)... but I am wondering is it actually doing emulation? (therefore I am not getting native performance). I know like WSL (windows->Linux) is some emulation, and WINE (linux->windows) is some emulation... and I am wondering if the same is true with Termux? Because I do not want any emulation layers... I want to run apps/scripts on the bare metal of this phone. So I am wondering for example, when I am running nodeJS in (adb or termux) or running a program I compiled with clang++ (on ADB or termux)... Is that program running on bare metal or some emulation layer?
Also related to Termux... I am wondering since it is an 'app' like something that comes from the play store...when I launch a process from termux, say nodeJS.... is that process running within the Termux APP sandbox? (I understand the android OS does some management / sansboxing of apps)... Or is that process launched on the phone outside of termux. For example, can I close termux app, and have a process (say NodeJS or other program) run in the background forever.
I want to get the full performance possible to these apps, i.e. I don't want the android OS to limit the process time/usage and RAM usage (would that be happening, is there something I need to do to override, and give my apps no performance throttling).
---------------------------------------
I am also wondering if I am better off just installing some linux distro on this phone natively, and not using android... my only concern there is I may not get as good driver support to access the phone's GPS and camera (which is a requirement). any thoughts on that?
This is my output in termux when I try to upgrade its seems my dpkg is messed up how can I fix it. SOLVED
