[Q] Wipe Data versus Titanium Backup - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Heys guys, I'm having some FC, specially while pairing bluetooth and in gallery app.
I've already tried Wiping Cache and Dalvik, wiping gallery data and cache, wiping media storage data and cache, no luck.
My main question is... if I wipe data/factory reset and after that I restore my backups using Titanium, wouldn't "the cause" of this FC also be restored?

Yes if its an app the problem .

Try first to restore only apps without data. If it works that proves that the culprit was a configuration of one of your apps. Set each app then one by one to determine the faulty one.

Clearing caches on the SD card

Hi,
I have rooted my phone and have moved most of the caches to the SD card. My question is: how to clear these caches on the SD card? Previously, I used to go to Settings >> Applications >> Manage Applications, and cleared the caches I wanted to. What to do now? Manual delete?
Cheers.
You should still be able to clear the caches through the Manage Applications helper. If you are using something like Move Cache for Root Users, the cache is linked to it's original on-board mount point (so it doesn't look any different to the application otherwise the application would break). So the original cache clearing methods will still work.

But whenever I try to clear the caches the "old way" via Manage apps, it appears as ZERO. It gives me the option to clear DATA, but not caches.
I used TA utility (aka Caches 2 SD) to move caches.
Any help!!!

[Q] Question about wiping data and cache

I'm just curious if after wiping data and cache when flashing a new rom will you still be able to run titanium and restore apps and data. Now I've made a backup copy of the internal storage and placed it on my pc, but the transfer rate is so slow that I'm compelled to ask my question.
yea you'll be fine running titanium.. and wiping data will not touch your music/photos

[Q] Completely delete all user data?

I need to completely delete all user data and revert to factory state
1. Factory reset does NOT delete all user and application data
2. Tried formatting /data in recovery, that too leaves application data on the phone
3. Have wiped everything in CWM that says wipe.
User data remains. I feel like I'm at war with the undead. What's the garlic and silver bullet solution to wiping all data off an Android device?

try these apps Forever Gone
SHREDroid
My File Shredder
Did you wipe SDCARD in CMW? It should be in "mount and storage" .

Do a factory reset and make sure you tick format USB.
You have been deleting all data. The best I can guess is that when you boot up your phone after the wipe, is that when you log into your Gmail account you are letting it auto restore your settings and installed apps from the Internet.

[Q] Need to recover photos from SGSII in Bootloop

Hello everyone,
I have been having major issues with my phone as of late and havent had the time to address them. Until I absolutely had to today.
Recently my phone has been intermittently force closing every open app (including sys apps) until a reboot stops the process.
Today my phone rebooted into a boot-loop and I have been trying to gain access to photos on my internal memory for most of the day.
I have access to CWM and download mode.
I have tried mounting the usb in CWM to no avail. "unable to open ums lunfile" error.
I have tried reflashing the current ROM I am using (AOKP)
I have tried accessing the files and transfering them to my microSD using Aroma file manager but it can't seem to access my internal storage.
Can anyone suggest a way to access the photos on my internal storage so I can back them up to either my computer or my microSD?
After that I am fine wiping it and starting all over.
Thanks!
When you do a full wipe, basically Wipe data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache and Wipe Dalvik cache, only the rom will be deleted. Your internal (and external) memory won't be touched, so you won't loose your photo's, music or anything like that. Just flash a new rom after the wipe.
However, if you haven't backed up anything with Titanium Backup, you will loose your apps, but I think your files are more important than apps are

Thank you for the quick advice! I ended up trusting it and wiping from recovery. Photos stayed intact and I backed them up and proceeded to wipe.

When I do a Wipe data/Factory Reset and Wipe Delvik cache nothing seems to be wiped

Delick cache is still full of .dex files
Data folder is still full of all types of files
I deleted all the files once and my phone messed up
Am I looking in the right folders
Strange thing if I don't do Wipe data/Factory reset in CWM some new roms i try don't load or work properly
When I do a backup am I doing a nandroid backup in CWM?
Thank for any help
Don't worry about no files in /data or dalvik-cache, the dalvivk is rebuilt on reboot for all installed application and data filled with factory settings and started apps prefs.
Losing all downloaded apps and having to go through setup indicates you have done factory data reset, and if you only clean dalvik you will see updating apps progress druring boot when dalvik is rebuilt.
