Agree, it's as ugly as it's useless (for me tho) :fingers-crossed:
If found the soulution
Just go to settings--> Homescreen-->Actionbar Design--> Disable
you should go settings--> Homescreen-->Actionbar Design--> Disable
Huh, thanks for the info, I'd never guess it's Actionbar Design.
I was searching something like Google Search bar or sth...
Slight update
Not sure if ADW has changed but it is actually in:
ADWSettings>Screen>Actionbar Design and then choose Disable
That worked thanks

Does anyone know how to simply set it back to the default google style? The only "awful" thing about it is that the actual searchable part of the bar is less than half the real-estate on the left-hand side, and then a large blank area for... no reason at all, then an utterly useless app-drawer button.
I just want a Google search bar, but running universally along the time like the action bar!!
thanks

Do you want to change to notification tone or remove it? You can just turn it off in settings if you just wanted it off.
edit: I see the files in /system/media/audio/notifications but don't know where the defaults are for events....sry.

You know, when you select the notification sounds asking you if you wanna use the android sounds or some other files. I clicked the "use by default for this action"
I would like to undo that.

I haven't seen that prompt myself.
But if it was from an application (or system app) you can go into settings->Applications (click the menu key to filter and see system apps)->Click the application that you want->scroll down and click "Change defaults".
Next time the action is performed it will prompt you for your default action.

Hey There,
Im running SlimKat on my Nexus S. Unfortunately I can`t edit my lockscreen. Anyway, there is a dashclock widget on the lockscreen. I want to replace it with a different widget. How can I do this without Lockscreen Settings within the Rom (SlimKat Bulid 3)?
Thanks in advance!
fluxional hineicd
Same problem here.
The dashclock app doesn't show my messages, missed calls, whatsapp messages and email. It only shows temperature and gmail email count.
Noone knows about that?!?!
Put your finger on the clock, drag it down to the lock icon, now you have a settings icon on the right of the clock.
+1
Moreover go to Settings > Security > Check 'Enable widgets' under 'Screen Security'.
Go to the lockscreen then press and hold the finger on the left and swype to the right to show up a new screen to be able to add new widgets.

That was the first one I tried I've gone through the whole settings menu at least 5 times but not a thing about changing the widgets on lockscreen. At least I got rid of the Dashclock widget by disabling the app.

Just to add to what has already been posted, I was Googling for a solution, found it and then found this thread. I am running Slimkat on my LG G Pad 8.3. Adding extensions to Dashclock can help. To edit settings, on the standard Slimkat lockscreen, there is a small gear icon on the right-hand side of the clock, tap that, unlock your screen, and an "Extensions" screen pops up. Extensions can also be deleted at will.
There aren't many extensions installed by default (4 or 5 I think) but you can add more through the Play Store (tap on the top right hand side menu, then tap Get more extensions).

Are you using Dashclock or another type of widget?
If you tap once on the clock, then unlock, what does your screen show?
If you press and hold just under the clock, can you tap on a giant "+" that appears on the left (and add another widget) or delete the clock widget altogether by sliding it to the left on the Remove option?

It may sound a little novice, but I tried to find the option, but couldn't find any.
Is there any ways to remove the "Google Search Box" on the home screen of OPX ?
Yeah. Disable the App called "google App" and you have a beautiful black screen.

Use another launcher?
Couldn't you just hold onto the bar and remove it? If not, another launcher like Nova Launcher would be able to do it.

No, unfortunately that doesn't work with the built-in bar, only ones you add yourself as widgets.
I've found an app file called base.apk in /data/app/ com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1 - could this be changed, renamed etc as a solution for this? I'm not game to try because I don't want to break anything.
I used Debloater to uninstall the Google Search App. Than its gone. If your device is not rooted you could just try to deactivate it. I am not sure if you can do it in the Apps section in the settings but Debloater does nearly the same without root. It just deactivates the selected Apps.
Be aware that if you deactivate the app "close all running apps" button will also disapear!
Hope that helps you out.
If you want to remove the google search bar and keep the Google Now Launcher and its possibilities I only know of the following solution :
- Root your phone
- Install Xposed framework
- Install Xposed GEL Settings which has an option to hide the search bar
If you don't want to keep the Google Now functionnalities then just go with another Launcher.

Edit: however, the search bar is still present in the recent apps screen.
Man this thing is always taking space on my notification drop menu, how do I remove it?
Good gracious why we can remove this, I already made it not to show on everything on the notification management but it does not go away.

Try the Auto Notifications app, from Playstore, it works.
You will need to go into settings / apps & notifications / apps / more - click the three dots at the bottom of the screen next to the settings badge and select System Apps
Scroll down to "Android System" and disable the desired notifications that Android System is placing onto the lock screen and or the status bar.
In my opinion this is one of the only things that has annoyed me about the Mate 10 this far.
Hope that helps.
