[Q] Need Help Quick w/Restore & Root Project

I have a Kindle Fire that I recently gave to my 9yr old daughter... She likes to play "MineCraft" on it and asked me to get a skin changer for her avatar, Well.... To get new skins I have to root the Kindle fire THAT IS WHAT IM HAVING TROUBLE WITH!!
So, I went to your Kindle fire root web page @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2125628 and did the steps:
1. Turn your Kindle Fire on and swipe down the top bar and tap on More+
2. Goto device and turn on the “allow installation of applications” button (ontop of the reset factory defaults)
3. Go back and then goto Security and turn on the “enable ADB” button
4. On your PC Figure out if you have 32 bit or 64 bit windows running and download the correct versions of java and android sdk below:
5. Download and install Java se7u11 the JDK file. From http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...s-1880260.html. This is needed for the android SDK to work (otherwise ADB wont work). You may have to register and reboot
6. Download android SDK then extract the folder to your desktop and install the (green icon). download from https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
7. If you have installed java and the android sdk – you should get the following screen:
8. If SDK manager asks you to install any missing packages (button on bottom right corner) then install them/accept and install
9. Download then extract to desktop and install the Kindle fire ADB Drivers (don’t worry if there’s an error message – Just install Anyway as its an unsigned file. Download from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1893838
10. Open up device manager ie start/control panel/hardware and sound/devices and printers/device manager
11. Turn on your kindle and plug it into the PC
12. Your kindle should be recognised in device manager as Andriod composite adb interface.
13. Download Bin4rysroot from here http://uploaded.net/file/0fpyh5c5
14. download Quemu root from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1893838
15. Extract both the above files to your C Drive into two new folders and rename the folders Qemu (for quemuroot contents) and Root (forbin4ryroot contents)
16. THE ROOTING PART NOW!!
17. On the Pc goto Start and type in CMD then right click on the CMD icon at the top of the window and select “Run as Administrator” and hit yes if the User Account Control window pops up and a dos window will appear
18. Copy and past (or type this into the window) cd ..\..\Root then hit enter
19. Copy and past (or type this into the window) runme.bat then hit enter
20. When the screen shows an interface, type 1 then hit enter, A lot of errors will show up but that's fine
21. When your kindle shows a "Restore" screen hit restore my data your kindle will restore and reboot (may take some time be patient!)
Ok... I hit "Restore" on the Kindle Fire screen and it rebooted to a black screen with a black background and the lock symbol on it... And THEN... NOTHING
I waited for 30 minutes for it to move on and for cmd prompt to find the device again and it never finds the device, I tried to unlock the Kindle Fire screen and it started wiggin out by flashing the word "Kind Fire" in the back drop and now I cant get it to stop flashing it. It is acting real sluggish also! WHAT DO I DO NEXT???? :highfive:
Please help!
Thank you Very Much

[Q] LG L3 E430 Security Error - wont boot

As the title says my LG L3 E430 wont boot up. The LG logo appears for a moment, disappears, then reappears with the words Security Error beneath it. It then shuts down
Confession time...Been a long time since I rooted my HTC and jumped straight in to the "how to" below out of boredom I guess!.....
STEPS:
1. Set your device on download mode (shutdown the phone, then press "ON + Volume Down") and connect via USB on your PC
2. Download this file: m eg a.co . n z /#!AgxRTZDA!Z0Ni-g5eg9D-X9YEwVcKCFN8hpYwvbex6YCop5MTqfo (remove spaces, i cant post a entire url for the new users restrictions, sorry)
3. Install MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser (msxml.msi)
4. Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
5. Set "Type" on "3GQTC" and "PoneMode" on "DIAG"
6. Select V10E_00.kdz from the folder that you downloaded
7. Click on "Launch software update" and wait a few minutes
8. After it finished, put Framaroot-1.6.0.apk on your SDcard or Internal memory
9. Autorice external apps on phone options, then use a file explorer to allocate and execute Framaroot, use Gandaf exploit
Everything seemed to go as planned until step 8. My PC no longer recognised the phone so I removed SD card and copied Framaroot to it. It was around this time I remembered about bootloader and thought DARN! I've screwed up
Anyway before I get the pleasure of smashing it with a sledge hammer (hated it from day one!) I thought I would ask if there is anyway back from this situation....
It will go into download mode but pc doesn't see it and I cant access it because, as I said, it turns on, Security Error comes up and then it shuts down.

Trying to upgrade my HTC Desire 610 ROM

I'm new to this. But I'm trying to upgrade my tester HTC Desire 610 ROM. This is what I have tried:
Details
Before you proceed, please confirm that this software upgrade to 1.54.502.15 (1.54.502.16 for pre-paid devices) is a newer version than what is currently loaded on your device. If it is the same version, there is no need to reload the software. Navigate to the Home screen then tap All apps > Settings > About > Software Information and locate the Software version. If your Software number is less than 1.54.502.15 (1.54.502.16 for pre-paid devices), you should proceed with the upgrade.
WARNING: During the upgrade process the device will reboot multiple times and show software upgrade screens. Do not remove the AC charger as this might stop the update and your device may be rendered inoperable!
Getting Started
Before you proceed with the update, make sure you have done the following:
· Set aside approximately 20 minutes to allow the device to update
· Connect the device to a charger
· Ensure the battery is charged to at least 35%
· Ensure the device is connected to AT&T 4G/LTE and a stable Wi-Fi network
Installation instructions
To manually perform the update, follow these steps below:
1. From the Home screen tap All apps, then tap Settings.
2. Tap AT&T Software Update.
3. Tap Check for updates.
4. Tap Continue to download the update.
5. If downloading the update using the mobile data network (not connected to Wi-Fi), you may be prompted with a data fee warning message. If this is acceptable, tap YES to start the upgrade process.
6. Status of the download can be checked in the Notifications pull down.
7. Once the download is complete, the user will be prompted to install from the Notifications pull down. Tap the System update to begin the upgrade process.
8. Tap OK to begin the update process to software version 1.54.502.15 (1.54.502.16 for pre-paid devices).
WARNING: During the upgrade process the device will reboot multiple times and show software upgrade screens. Do not remove the AC charger as this might stop the update and your device may be rendered inoperable!
9. Device will reboot and begin installation. Users will not be able to use their device during the installation process (approximately 10 minutes).
10. The system update is complete. Tap OK to continue.
11. For best performance, open Play Store and tap the Menu icon, then select My apps and ensure all installed apps are updated.
Manual system update instructions:
If you are outside of AT&T/Wi-Fi coverage, or the update is not found, you may perform a manual system update. This process requires that you download and install HTC Sync Manager first in order to get the proper drivers. If you do not have HTC Sync Manager installed already, you may download the software from
WARNING: Performing the system update manually will delete all information from the device. Ensure all information is backed up before proceeding. See the Help & How To section of this website for more information on backing up your device contents.
Performing the ROM Update:
1. Download and save the HTC Desire™ update to your PC.
Note: Please make sure to download the correct version for your device.
2. Connect your device to your PC via the supplied USB cable.
3. If the device is not recognized by the PC, ensure you have HTC Sync Manager installed and then disconnect and reconnect the device from the USB cable.
4. Once the device is properly recognized on the PC, locate the HTC Desire™ ROM Update that you downloaded. Double-click on the file to launch the system update wizard.
5. Follow all of the system update wizard instructions shown on your PC.
6. Once the update is complete, click Finish in the Wizard and the device will reboot.
7. Once the device reboots, the initial setup wizard will appear.
8. Once the initial setup process is complete, open Play Store and tap the Menu icon, then select My apps and ensure all installed apps are updated.
9. After initial setup and updating all apps, the device is ready for use.
Note: If the ROM update wizard fails to recognize the device, close the wizard and then follow the steps below:
· From a powered off state, hold VOLUME DOWN while powering on the device.
· Use the volume buttons to scroll to FASTBOOT and then press the POWER button to select it.
· Connect the device to the PC while in this state and attempt the ROM update again.
To exit FASTBOOT manually, use the volume keys to navigate to REBOOT and press the POWER button to select it.
But it does nothing when I click on the .exe.
So what to do next??

[GUIDE] [Fix] Dreamtab hangs at characters.

Symptoms
The classic symptoms of the issue are at some point the Nvidia Dreamtab will stop booting and hang at the Dreamworks characters screen and never boot any further. The frequency ranges from once a month to a year. You are able to factory reset and the issue goes away for some periodicity and then returns.
NOTE: If you recently bought a new Nvidia Dreamtab and you have this character freeze right after doing the OTA then this probably isn't the issue, I am working on a different fix for that problem in this thread. If however this solution does fix your issue I'd like to hear about it.
Background
The tablet uses the linux ext4 filesystem. The Dreamtab kernel requests a filesystem check every 20 partition mounts(typically during reboots) or when the files system is marked dirty(the tablet is hard powered off, or some other glitch). The tablet is missing the fsck binary which is the filesystem checker similar to what you might have seen in windows with chkdsk. Without this file the tablet can not check filesystem and the kernel waits indefinitely for that to happen and your tablet sits and the Dreamworks characters.
Solution
Temporarily boot to a program(TWRP) that can install the filesystem file on the tablet. To temporarily boot to TWRP the bootloader must be unlocked. The unlock procedure requires erasing all information on the tablet which isn't an issue if you are currently experiencing the problem as a factory reset was the only way to recover anyway. If you have a working tablet and want to apply this fix you should find a way to backup your files prior to attempting this. To better understand how the low level Nabi functions this should be required reading and will help better understand what you are doing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/nabi-2/general/nabi-information-t3229119
Procedure
Only for Nvidia Dreamtab NV08B. Use this at your own risk, your warranty is void. You will lose all personal data on the device
Link to video Youtube video installation
1) Down load the drivers.
-- There are 3 popular options included in the link from above in the driver section of the Nabi General Information thread. Have them handy for the next step.
2) Download TWRP recovery.
-- The file is attached at bottom of post. DTTWRPinstaller300.zip
-- Note: You can automate some of the bootloader unlock and installing TWRP steps below with the install.bat file if you have a working Nabi.
3) Download the fsck patch.
-- The file is attached at bottom of post. NV08B_FSCK_PATCH.zip
4) Reboot to fastboot protocol
-- With Nabi powered off press and hold the power button and the vol + button until a small menu(bootloader menu) appears. Quickly release both buttons or the tablet will start booting normally. Using the vol- button to highlight the fastboot protocol(2nd option from top) and then press the vol+ button to select it. Note: Depending on if the drivers are installed the screen will change or stay the same.
5) Verify drivers installed or install drivers.
-- Open windows device manager. On Windows 10 type "device manager" in to the Cortana search bar. On other versions open run by pressing the "windows key" in lower left of keyboard while also pressing R key. Then type: devmgmt.msc
-- If you have "Android Device" and it's sub menu says bootloader/fastboot then you are set up. If down by "other devices" you have an unknown device then you will need to install the drivers from the selection and download you made from reading the Nabi General Information thread.
6) Unlock the bootloader
-- This step will ERASE ALL information on the tablet.
-- Unzip the DTTWRPinstaller300.zip to a location of your choosing. If you use Windows built in unzip utility make sure you check the box that says to open when unzipping is complete.
-- Hold the shift key on the keyboard while right clicking on the "files" folder. Then select "open command window here"
-- At the prompt type:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
Note: You need to move quickly to the tablet and do the next step as there is a timeout
-- On the tablet it will ask if you want to unlock. Using the vol- key select "yes" with vol+ or pwr. If you do this properly in the command window on your computer it will tell you it is erasing the device.
7) Temporary boot TWRP
-- I can't remember if after the bootloader unlock if tablet is at fastboot, or if you have to power off the tablet and do step 4 again. I think you can just proceed.
-- At the prompt type
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
8) Get the patch file on the tablet
-- Option A: There are a couple options for this. Check the file explorer on your computer. If you see t8400n as a device you can just copy and paste the NV08B_FSCK_PATCH.zip to the internal storage by copy and pasting in windows. Go to step 9.
-- Option B: Insert a microSD card in your computer and copy the NV08B_FSCK_PATCH.zip to your microsd card and insert the sdcard in the tablet.
-- Option C: If the t8400n does not show up on your computer then you will need to transfer via ADB. This will require you to setup the ADB driver like you did for fastboot in step 5. Now in sub Android Device in Device Manager you should see ADB, if you don't install driver.
--Copy the NV08B_FSCK_PATCH.zip to the "files" folder where you extracted DTTWRPinstaller300.zip. It should be in a folder with adb, fastboot, AdbWinAPi, etc
-- At the command prompt type:
Code:
adb push NV08B_FSCK_PATCH.zip /sdcard
9) Install patch
-- In TWRP on tablet click the install tab. Generally you will now see the NV08B_FSCK_PATCH.zip if you picked option A or C. If not navigate to the sdcard folder. If you picked option B navigate up a folder and find external_sdcard folder and look in there.
Note: For external_sdcard it may be necessary to exit to TWRP main menu and select mount tab and make sure Micro SDcard is checked.
-- Once you have found the NV08B_FSCK_PATCH.zip from inside the install tab you can select it and then swipe to install. You should get verification it completed normally.
I know this is rather old, but I have a couple of these tablets I'm trying to get working again to give to a friend's kids, but this doesn't seem to work. Did you have to have USB debugging checked before the tablets stopped booting in order for this to work properly?
Basically I can do all the fastboot stuff without any errors, but when I try to boot to TWRP all the tablets do is pretty much rotate the screen 180° so the bootloader screen is in the opposite corner and the volume buttons no longer work until I hold power for ten seconds to power it off... Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I just bought a mi 4K stick. Android 11

Downloader: whenever i click on the file and open the apk to install, it will show the progress bar for 2 seconds and then close. no error.
File Commander: Whenever i try to install the file, progress bar showing staging app and then nothing happens.
I tried the same APK on my TCL Smart TV and it worked like a charm. Android 9

Others have mentioned the same issue. You could try a third party installer app like "downloader".
Or, using adb install or other system level tools.
Do you find solution?
Hi,
did anyone find a solution for this problem ?
a Quick update.... I managed to install apps using ADB Command.
first, enabled developed mode and usb debugging.
enabled unknown source
run adb command from windows laptop and install the apk ( adb install apkname)
https://sites.google.com/site/tweakradje/devices/xiaomi-mi-tv-stick?authuser=0 was very helpful....
i also got them installed thru adb , but when restart all of these apps will go away, its really annoying
to install the apps , follow these below steps :
from the CMD
adb.exe connect "IP address of your android device"
cd " location for your apk apps "
adb install " appname "
done
please if anyone find a solution to make these apps stands , share it with us
got it done successfully
now it runs as it should be
i only did a couple factory reset , then it works
most important , when download the downloader app, make sure you provide full accesses and grant permission for unknown app before open the downloader app
and the same for any other apps , download any desire app from downloader then install it , provide permissions then use the app
that's it
thansk

No need for this.
Dear Assad. Can you please have a step by step in how you did it. It would be appreciated
Hello All. I was able to side load some of the apps using adb. I was not successful to install everything but I did not try to see why. I was able to load the apps that I needed and that is why I did not go further. Also, experts might have an idea why I was not able to do it. nonetheless, here is what I did
1- Download the ADB file and rename it to .CMD __TV_STICK_MODS.CMD__
2- Once downloaded and renamed to say"tv_stick_mods.cmd" (just an example), double click the file to run it.
3- It will prompt you to download the adb.exe and it will take you to the site where you can download it from. You will have to download this file "platform-tools_r34.0.1-windows"
4- Once downloaded, you need to extract the the file in a folder where you know the location and add to the same folder the "tv_stick_mods.cmd" (all have to be in the same folder)
5-Download the apps that you want to side load (no need to put them in the same folder)
6- Go to your Mi box stick and enable developers option and enable USB debugging
7- Also from your Mi box go to the setting of your network connection and obtain the IP address for your Mibox (should be something like 192.167.XX.XX)
8- Run "tv_stick_mods.cmd" again and it will prompt you to enter the IP address for the Mi stick. Enter the IP address that you have obtained in #7 and it will try to connect and it will show you a message on the TV to allow PC to connect (Make sure that you are on the same network as the MI stick)
9- Once permission is granted, then go back to PC/ Laptop and you will see a message that says "this does not seem to be a mi-stick do you want to continue"
10- hit yes and it will take you to another menu where you can explore all the options that you can do with the Mi stick from your laptop.
11- for installing apps, choose option 8 (copy / Install/uninstall)
12- In the next menu chose install and it will prompt you to choose the app that you want to install
13- Go to the location where you downloaded the app and choose the app that you want to install
14- It will prompt you if you want to install that app or not. Hit yes and let it install (should not take more than 10 Secs)
15- once done, it will show success and hit any key. Once this is done, go back and see if your app has been installed.
Hope this procedure helps you guy like it did to me and please if there is any flow in what I did please correct me
