Hi folks!
Last week I updated my sgs3 via OTA from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1.
After this I rooted with CF.
Now I have three problems:
1.) Sometimes WiFi says thats connected and working, but noch data will transferred. I have to restart WiFi, and after this WiFi works fine for a while.
2.) Bluetooth connecting to my car-hifi with hands-free-set works sometimes, Butter suddenly it doesn't connect automatically to car-hifi. If I restart Bluetooth and tip on my car-hifi online list, all works fine.
3.) Alter root the phone has status "custom" and no OTA-updates are available anymore. I bought and tried TriangleAway, but this can't reset flash-counter or set status back to "original".
Is there someone out there who knows to fix problems? Are there other JB-users with same problems out there?
Best regards
Johannes

Same issue
I had a similar issue on wifi after the update but not as severe as yours. It is only twice that the wifi did not want to turn on and even the phone was shut down on its own but after that it is working fine so far. I flashed it using Odin and did not wipe the phone. Try flashing the rom before ICS and install ICS by Odin without wiping the phone.
I tried to reinstall the update via kies, and now wifi is working

I can confirm the wifi problems, and actually my phone has been crashing a lot. actually I had to remove the battery in order to continue using it.
I have a theory that it is caused by wifi or 3g, last night I disabled both 3g and wifi and in the morning the phone didnt crash overnight.
Hi guys,
Me and my girlfriend have both a Samsung Galaxy S2 running the official ICS 4.0.3.
Since the upgrade to ICS, Google Talk won't connect on WiFi anymore.
When I use the 3G network, Google Talk works fine. As soon as I connect to any WiFi network, GTalk goes offline and I am unable to send/receive instant messages.
As I said, me and my girlfriend have the same issue! And it appeared only after upgrading to ICS.
GTalk version is: 4.0.3-239410 (330)
I already performed a factory reset of both phones and also of my home router.
Any other internet application (Google Play, Internet, Facebook, etc...) work fine on WiFi.
I have also searched the internet but there are only a few others affected and there is no solution provided to their problem.
Solved
Hello again!
As I said, me and my girlfriend had the same problem. 2 days ago, the battery of my girlfriend's phone went empty and the phone turned off completely. We never tried to turn off the phones completely until now.
After she turned on the device again, Gtalk started to work also on WiFi.
Then she told me that Gtalk is woring again and I restarted my phone.....of course it didn't work for me. Then my idea was to also turn off my phone completely. After turning it on again, BOOM !! Gtalk started working also for me!!!!
I have no logical explanation for this, but I am really happy that I can use Gtalk from home now, when connected via WiFi.
So, reboots didn't help, but complete shut down did help.
I have the same problem on S3. My GTalk also started to work after turning off my phone. But then I went out for a while and phone was connected to 3G. When I came back there was the same problem again, phone connected to Wifi and GTalk offline. In this case turning off helps again but I think it isn't best solution for this issue.

I have just bought S3 few days back . Its with Jelly bean 4.1.2. I am facing the same issue. Notification works fine in mobile network but not in home WIFI. The problem starts only if I change twice in between wifi to mobile ( wifi -mobile -wifi ). I am using notification for Facebook messenger and Gtalk. I tried to do factory reset or hard reset or tried in friend's WIFI but nothing works to that problem. Only i thing I see, it works if I reboot the phone then the notifications start to work again in WIFI also.

same problem here
Same problem here. WiFi firewall maybe??? Have you tried with different wifi networks.
(SII CM10.1)
Hello,
I became a proud owner of S3. As it usually happens to me there is the problem. Namely, from time to time problem happens to me when I'm using any web browser or anything that requires an Internet connection. Say for example Opera. I'm browsing pages and suddenly ... BOOM ... 3-5 second pause in the connection over WiFi (energy saving is off and in WiFi settings - I did it via code, in the service menu). Sometimes Internet connection breaks when I'm browsing menu or writing an SMS. For example: I browse the menu and suddenly I see - WiFi stamp disappears and after a while there is info about that phone is connected again. This is the first problem.
The phone is lying, WiFi operates in the background. When I Pick up the phone and when I'm clicking home (or power) button I get the lock screen and. .. freeze. Phone is disconnected from WiFi and only time the phone reconnects to WiFi I can unlock the screen.
On what ROM were the problems? On the Stock LF2, ROOTed LF2, Omega 7.1 - 9.0 and AOKP Milestone6.
And also it does not work automatic refresh of weather (at 1 h interval) on stock widget (the Samsung weather widget).
Sorry for my bad English.
Why couldn't you have just set your wifi to never turn off in settings, wifi, advanced.....it's practically the same thing....I wouldn't be messing around with the service menu. I would wipe data/factory reset and start again bud but this time, stay away from the service menu as it's for technicians and phone repairs etc I've not once touched the service menu....

I found the same problem ever since I upgraded to LH3 (the latest official release at this moment). The lock screen is frozen if: I had the WiFi Switched On, screen off either manually or timeout, then disconnected (say if I walk away from the wifi service area). When I press Power or Home button to wake the device, the lock screen is frozen.
Seems no freeze if wifi remains connected. Seems no freeze if wifi power saving mode is off (disabled via *#0011# (but setting won't stay if unit is power off).
Did both Cache wipe (didn't do factory reset) but makes no difference. Tried "never turn off" also makes no difference (probably because it will turn off anyway when connection is dropped)
The upgrade seems worser than before...
Any hints please...
This seems to be common but not always the same fix, my wifi constantly drops out and reconnects immediately (ruining any downloads/streaming) , i have tried the service mode, factory reset, different kernels, sleep time, static IP's, JB vs ICS Roms / Stock roms, you name it i have tried it and it STILL is doing it. Weird thing is..dont think it dropped out and reconnected when i was stock and unrooted, but as i said, tried stock rom and to no avail
Any ideas?
Bump

Hi, I am having the same problem again after not having this problem for a month or 6.
I qas having this problem on my note when on gb and now on cm10.1 but the problem never occured in an custom ics or jb rom.
So I recommend; use a custom ics or jb rom to solve this problem
Cheers,

I have this issue on my galaxy note N7000, and only recently for like a month now and on various different ROMs all JB. Any updates on what the cause could be?
Go full unrooted stock and send the phone in for warranty repair. It's the smartest thing to do if a problem persists after lots of ROM switching and factory resetting.

That's would be the smartest thing to do, indeed. But... Warranty expired centuries ago.
Any clue what is causing this not uncommon problem?

Try visiting a(not crowded) place with public Wi-Fi, and see if the issue persists.
If it starts to work fine, get a new router, preferably with 802.11n support. If you buy a N compatible router, check all of your Wi-Fi capable devices for N support, and if one of them doesn't, make them N compatible(if it's a computer, get a new N compatible Wi-Fi card or USB reciever, if it's something else, well, you can't do anything else other than buying a newer version of it with N support, or not using that device's Wi-Fi feature at all) because your router will operate at an older mode even if one of your devices doesn't support N.
Hey guys, today what happened randomly on my S3 is that the internet stopped working - WiFi doesn't work although it's connected to a network, and nor does data - it doesn't connect, it's like it was off. I tried restarting my phone, turning WiFi on and off and it just doesn't work. Also what is very weird is that if I turn my phone off and turn it back on, mobile data will be turned on straight away, even though it doesn't work. What is going on? I'm running the latest nightly of Omni Rom 4.4.2 (I updated it after WiFi stopped working, so it's not a problem with the nightly).
Any help is appreciated!
After numerous reboots and reflashing Gapps it seems to be working again... Apparently it was a problem with Google services or something.

Hi guys I have a problem. I'm on the latest firmware of .314 and when I connect to WiFi I notice that it hangs. By hangs I mean I'll be connected but after a while I can't browse as if I'm offline though I'm connected. I'm not sure if it happens anywhere else as I only use WiFi at home and its only started recently. Maybe two weeks ago. My other devices seem fine though I hardly use them.

There seem to be some repetitive policy bugs across all xperias on 4.4.2+
Running a fix permissions from TWRP>avdanced fixes my problem untill a month later :/
Oh right. It used to work fine before. I never noticed the problem before. Unfortunately I'm unrooted

having the same issue. let me know if yours is like this. wifi is connected but when you notice internet stopped working, the up arrow on the Wi-Fi blinks but not the down arrow.
yours like that?
Yeah mine is exactly the same. Sometimes it happens there and then and sometimes it works for a while then stops.

ok at least I'm not the only one having the issue. hopefully it'll be fixed in the next update
It seems to be another policy bug
Sony should have fixed it in the 4.4.4 update
I'm on the .314 update firmware but still get this problem.
Many people are having this bug (myself included). The only solution that works for me is an app called wifi fixer. It shows a log regarding your wifi, and tries to fix any issues. The log shows my phone unassociates with the router every so often. That's why my phone shows I'm connected, but I don't have any Internet access. This app detects it, and reassociates with the router thus temporarily fixing the problem. I would assume 4.4.4 will fix this bug entirely though.
I've had this, too. My Z2 is currently gone for repair, because after a few days of this I couldn't even turn on WiFi anymore. Or Bluetooth.
Strangely enough (and perhaps tellingly) the same thing happens on my Xperia SP running CM11 (4.4.4). I've got both WiFi and Bluetooth turned on (because of my SmartBand) and when I try to use the browser, upload seems to be active, but there's no download. The moment I turn off Bluetooth I get data from WiFi...
Not sure if these are connected, but if they are, I doubt the update to 4.4.4 is going to fix it.
(BTW, I'm not an expert, I could be wrong. I certainly hope I am.)
I'm at my cousins house and I'm connected to WiFi without any issues. He has the sky hub. I don't. I have the old router. When I asked a sky advisor I don't know if he was trying to sales talk me or was actually being genuine but he said due to the wireless n compatibility you will have some issues. I've been connected to the WiFi here now for like an hour
