Baseband links for 2.2.2 eg GAUSB1A136000? - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Can someone help point me to a valid mirror for 2.2.2 basebands?
This thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573948 is useful but the links are dead and its not in wiki either.
My current baseband GAUSB1A134700-EU needs to change to something higher eg. GAUSB1A136000.
Thanks very much.

use tool in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12231991 its simple & easy you can flash any baseband (included) you want.

Thanks. I found this tool too... the multibaseband flasher does only the amss part but not the dsp1.
So I used the multiflasher which does both ... great. However it's limited to certain roms only eg. 345, 351, 353, 354, 366 and 406.
The 351 works for me ... thats great for a step. :good:
It'd be nice if someone can share the 360 baseband files ... anyone?

Can you please tell me why you need to flash 360 baseband ?

351 seriously lags and 360 seems to be the latest retail rom according to wiki, so that's why I wanted it hopefully it will be better. If all else fails, I could go to simple streak custom rom.

I'm on cm7 now with 354 baseband, running well without lag.

The reason it's limited to certain ROMs is those ROMs were the only ones at the time that had their baseband files readily available. Also, I hope you went all the way to the end of the thread, since I went and combined both of UKSheep's tools into one new tool: Multiflasher. The baseband function was tested on my Streak and it pushed both amss and dsp files correctly.
The best Froyo baseband to use would be 366, rather than 360.

My streak is originally under retail region rom (00) so the highest possible rom is 360 according to wiki (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Dell_Streak_5). I've read few times in xda that I can't change roms to different region. Furthermore, if using custom roms eg. CM7, does it matter which baseband I'm using cos it gets overwritten anyway, correct?

Yes, I got the multiflasher from end of the thread. Baseband 366 is different region (12) from my current region (00) ie. will have issues. I was just hoping that someone/ somewhere has active links similar to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573948

Ahh, I thought you were using a custom ROM, not stock. So why haven't you switched to a custom ROM like DSC, which is the custom ROM that is closest to stock, being based off the 407 ROM from Dell.
Switching ROMs from one region to another can be done with ease. Just make sure the region of the recovery matches the region of the ROM.

I wanted stock 'cos sooner or later, I'd have to sell this or pass it on to someone and it had to be stock condition, in case they have problems or didn't know how to fix.
As for custom roms, I noticed most threads have dead links already and didn't want to go there (more Q&A), I only have simple streak custom rom with me at the moment.
As for switching region ROMS, I thought it had to do with matching existing baseband with recovery/rom, not sure. Will probably backup and give it a try but again the latest Gingerbread ROM in multiflash is 406 ... anyone got baseband for 407?

If you're installing 407 you don't need to install the baseband beforehand. The 407 ROM package will install the 407 baseband at the same time as the ROM itself is installed.
Custom ROMs require flashing a matching baseband if the kernel isn't modified to ignore baseband mismatches.

Hmmm... I didn't see the stock roms installing the basebands before this eg 451 and 460, that's why I raised this thread to begin with and now using MULTIFLASH to do so.

Unlikely, unless installing one of the stock deodexed ROMs or a custom ROM. Standard operating behavior for all stock ROMs from Dell is to install all the components (recovery, baseband, system). The baseband MUST match the ROM, just as the region of the ROM must match the region of the recovery. If the stock ROMs were to omit installing the baseband you would constantly encounter baseband mismatches.
My Streak is an unlocked (region 00) model. Brand new it came with 347 on it. I posted a picture of the about page, and the baseband for that unit was GAUSB1A134700-US. When I upgraded to 351 and 360 the baseband changed both times to GAUSB1A135100 and GAUSB1A136000. When I started using custom ROMs was when I had to install the baseband files separately. In my case, I flashed the 406 baseband (GAUSB1A140614) instead of 407 (GAUSB1A1406214) to install the DSC ROM.
Stock deodexed ROMs and custom ROMs are not in Dell's package format and do not have the baseband files included within them. Thus it's necessary to flash the baseband separately. That is what the baseband portion of MultiFlasher is for. The only other reason to use MultiFlasher is to install a new recovery, either one of the two custom recoveries we have available (StreakMod or ClockworkMod) or to flash a stock recovery so as to flash a stock ROM.

My basebands don't get updated when using stock rom and recovery files downloaded from wiki http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Dell_Streak_5 . That's why this thread was raised. If you try one from there and works, then there's something wrong with my streak.

Considering that I downloaded both 351 and 360 from there, you have a problem with your Streak. Especially as the Dell Streak Flashing Guide on the wiki has this little gem about updating the baseband.
Updating baseband
(Recommended: Create a nandroid before starting)
Install Matching Stock rom
(Optional: Reinstall custom recovery and restore nandroid)
Finished

[Q] Baseband Question

currently I am on Mik_os's 2.3.4 CM7 rom with a baseband of v07u, my question: which baseband would I need to flash ? Also with flashing these basebands, what if I were to go back to froyo roms ie...devoid froyo final, void delta, or megatron ? Would I get stuck in boot loops or even worse take a chance at bricking my phone ? I get the whole concept that the reason to flash the new baseband is some GSM will work on offical GB roms.
mik_os's CM7 is still on version 10e baseband, therefore, it is *technically* a froyo based rom just rebuilt to BE gingerbread without the baseband.
So in that, it uses the old baseband. Same as froyo.
The only roms that require the new baseband are roms based off the new 2.3.3 released from LG.
you're welcome

I appreciate the help, but that didnt necessarily answer the question I was looking for was....with flashing the new baseband(s), which one is compatiable with all roms ? Say I wanted to right now flash to an official 2.3.x rom, than a few weeks later wanted to go back to roms like megatron, devoid froyo final,mik_os's cm7 ? I know I would have to flash the new baseband for the new roms but what would I do to have a working phone for the "technically based froyo" roms ?

You should get the old baseband to have #technically froyo based roms. This can be done by,
1. Flashing entire older official version rom (i.e.10a, b..) via KDZ or LGMDP.exe.
2. Easier? Just flash only baseband via LGMDP.

newbie. best rom?

hi i just bought my phone last week an I've already experienced some lag even though there's not much apps installed. so now i want to try a custom rom. what rom would be the best for first timers thanks..
If you have 2.2 installed (old baseband) than andy's phoenix rom is the best.
Grab it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909242
If you have 2.3 (new baseband) than you should go for Ginger LOL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1118685
hi, thanks for the reply. baseband is the version of android im currently using right? im using 2.3.3. but the link for ginger lol says page is not found. i'll try to search for it in the forums. thanks.

baseband is not the android version. i wrote up a small thing on baseband here.
here is the link for ginger lol (the link in post two is actually the right link except for the four dots):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118685
in my opinion, i would use andy's phoenix rom. follow these instructions:
a) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15309588&postcount=2
b) also, since you are currently using official gingerbread (2.3.3), you need to downgrade your baseband version, instructions found here
thanks for the info man. as i've read, most roms will eventually support the new baseband. so i think, im gonna wait a little longer for that. one more thing though. i though when i install rom, the kernel comes along with it, but as i read it seems that i need to flash my kernel too? thanks for your help.
phoenix rom comes with franco's .35 kernel preinstalled
There's no need to install other kernel.
roms using old baseband is never going to support new baseband...
DUDE I prefer, no need to root your stock rom for installing custom rom.
follow http://lg-p500-optimusone.blogspot.com/ if u want this.
note : I didnt try this but this should work

plain and simple, and stats show... best rom, Mik_os's cyanogenmod 7 port
paired with your choice of either the latest franko kernel or fserves kernels.
CyanogenMod 7 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
Franko kernel 19.4 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049518

[Q] Stock Kernel?

Hi Guys,
Am currently on stock 407, but in settings>>About Phone, it shows that my Kernel version was some version of "perf" (couldn't recall exact string).
I was using several flavors of custom ROM before flashing stock 407. I then flashed Gkernel1.5.
I was wondering if there was any way to flash stock kernel? I tried flashing stock 407 again, but the kernel remains as Gkernel1.5. :\
On a sidenote, which would be the best Kernel for GB?
Help?

Thanks for responding. It'll be helpful if you can direct me to any helpful threads.
Before posting this, I've gone through most of the threads in the 5 subsections for Dell Streak 5.
Have also searched for kernels but the only ones that come up are the custom kernels:
Gkernel (both 1.5 and the X versions), DJ Steve's as well as the Phoenix being used by DSC0.66b. Nothing about the stock kernel.
The reason I asked is I did flash stock ROM but the kernel + amss + dsp1 did not change. It remained as whatever it was before I flashed. Had to manually flash the 407 amss and dsp1 files. Only thing missing to have a completely stock GB Streak is the kernel, and I can't seem to get it by flashing the stock ROM again (i tried).
Or maybe I'm not providing enough information for you to help me? Any help is much appreciated. Just need to point me in the right direction.
Thanks!

Are you flashing through StreakMod using a zip or are you using the stock recovery and flashing factory update.pkg.... If you are flashing factory packages then it should flash EVERYTHING, and you may need to do it several times for it to "take" the flash fully

What custom kernels are compatible with 407 Olleh ?

I tried the dsc kernels but my streak 5 was stuck at the red Olleh logo. Haven't tried the other gxkernel yet.
What I did was flash the kernel zip in recovery and wiped the cache. Am I doing it wrong?

Is this STOCK 407?
I flashed the STOCK 407 last night and would love to know if there are any custom kernels for it also and perhaps a more updated RADIO. I feel like I dont get as much reception after I flashed 407
The Streak is not like other android devices, you can't flash one of the custom kernels (boot.img) files without complementing it with the corresponding ROM or checking compatibility with a ROM.
So if you want a custom kernel you have to go with a custom ROM, which at the moment I would suggest DSC ROM or the newly releases to us from Korea, Cyanogen ROM. With EITHER case PLEASE read through the threads so you won't be back whining about issues that are clearly solved in the thread
wow, just wow! such sucky attitude in xda lately, no wonder people are leaving in droves. "Don't come back whining???" Really? WTF? I asked a legitimate question: are any custom kernels compatible with stock 407 Olleh ROM? Am I doing something wrong when I install custom kernel? I have read on the 407 Olleh rom thread that some people were having success installing dsc kernels, but I wasn't. So, I thought I would ask on the Q&A forum. Man, f*ck this sh*t.

After root*

Hey guyz...
I just rooted my s5 2.3.3 407 olleh rom
Now I am wondering what all I can do with it...
Can any1 suggest me some nice tweaks or apps..
Also can any one tell me how can I overclock... Cuz setcpu has the highest limit to 998 ........ How can it be 1500 or something like that

Root is the most powerful aspect to being able to get the most from any device.
It unlocks access to the root of the filesystem, so you can change almost anything. Also root is essential to get more functionality from your device, a lot of software requires root access to work.
In your case, try a new kernel, i am sure you will be able to overclock using Pheonix kernel for example.
To be honest, why not install a custom rom?
Everything is done for you, and kept up to date with bug fixes.
If you like the rom you have, my recommendation is the DSC rom as it is an excellent rom.

If you find my posts helpful hit the thanks button.
M planning to flash dsc on my stock rom
With stock kernel
Will my fone b able to overclock then or I still have to flash different kernel.?
Sent from my Dell Streak using xda premium
If you want to be able to overclock and undervolt the processor, you need to install the Phoenix kernel as the stock Gingerbread kernel does not support either operation. You WANT to install the Phoenix kernel anyway as it has fixes above and beyond overclocking that aren't found in the 407 kernel. If you're coming from Froyo (Android 2.2.x), you cannot use a Froyo kernel with a Gingerbread (Android 2.3.x) ROM, unless of course you want to render the device unusable until corrected.
I had stock froyo
Then I updated my rom to official olleh one...without changing the kernel
Nd its working cool

When you change ROMs using official Dell packages, all the components are supposed to be updated to match the ROM. This is to minimize incompatibility. Therefore, when you upgraded to 407, the baseband, recovery, and the kernel should have been upgraded at the same time as the ROM itself.
In this case, you happen to be one of those for whom the kernel wasn't upgraded. And while the Froyo kernel on Gingerbread seems to work, the combination cannot be as stable or as functional as having a Gingerbread kernel with a Gingerbread ROM. The point however should be moot now as you've installed either DSC or Traveller DSC, both of which have the Phoenix kernel.
yeah now my streak has dsc

I am still learning here, a newbie. Please apologize me for my lack of knowledge.
When I first started, I read quite a number of forum until I got quite confused, but has opted a choice. After numerous attempt, I managed to flash my DS5 with Longhorn 2.9.3 using CWM. What I found out was my Baseband(BB is what they call it, am I correct?) was still 347, which later I read somewhere here, I need to have BB407 instead. Was struggling to get 407 installed, but finally manage a solution.
But I still have not really understood what refers to a Kernal, and a Baseband. What they use for, etc...
Can someone please help to explain. Thanks.
My DS5 About phone look like this now. I am wondering if the part, second from below on the picture, is a problem = "MOD VERSION : UNKNOWN:
Can anyone comment on that? Thanks.
And also, I still can't overclock my DS5 using this ROM, max still at 998. I have tried SetCPU and Antutu CPU Master, and I read many forums to find out how, but none seems to work. Have I missed a step on installation or...? Can anyone help on this? Thanks.
BTW, I might decide to try DSCv2.3 (perhaps starts off with DSCv1.0, before upgrading) or Streak MIUI 2.4.20.
Any advice on those? Thanks.
XDA Developers - Kernel & Baseband Difference
The search engine is your friend. Learn how to use it please. In the meantime, I recommend either DSC or Traveller DSC. Read the instructions in the first posts of each thread and you should be good.
Thanks you for the encouragement, suggestions and instruction.
use dsc 2.3
it has rooted rom with phoenix kernel wilhich would allow you to overclock your device using any app
