[Q] Permanently unchecking Google voice typing - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i've searched through tones of google pages and so on and have not come to a solution yet. Currently on the Omega v31. Awesome rom btw however i always hated the "Select input notification" and yes i do know how to get rid of it and all by removing the stock keyboard or freezing it with titanium. My issue at hand is Google voice typing which is awesome and should not be frozen or removed due to Google now or so i have read. the thing is this google voice typing auto checks itself after awhile and i have no clue why. so yes i have Smart keyboard as default and unchecked google voice typing and notification goes away till after using the phone for awhile google voice typing then enables itself again. So irritating .. can anyone share some light on this.

Same here, Google Voice Typing automatically checked.
DEAR GOOGLE, VERY STUPID FUNCTION.
Moving to Android for 3 weeks and this platform has TONS TONS TONS of BUGS.

I am also having the same issue but instead with my LG Optimus G. I have everything set up like the OP has by only having one input method set up. No matter what the Google Voice typing will check itself back on. It would be very helpful if someone has a method to keep it permanently unchecked or removed without removing google now as I as that feature, Thanks.

[Q] Google Voice Search issues

Hello All,
I searched for any related posts and could not locate any reference to my problem. I would greatly appreciate any input.
One of my favorite features on my old EVO 4G was the voice search for navigation. I could give it very limited information and it found places, products, etc like nobody's business.
I upgraded to the EVO 4G LTE today and it came with Google Voice Search installed. First I could not even locate the app. When searching at Google Play for the app I am made aware that it is already installed. There does not appear to be an update option at this point.
Firstly I would like to find a better way to locate, paste to the home page or launch the app (once I get it to work that is). Secondly and most important when I launch the app through what is discovered on Google Play the microphone page appears but then the app locks up.
I have also tried just the Navigation app and when I speak directions it seems to take the input fine, but the results are seriously random and for the most part quite irrelevant.
I have played with the settings and the maps apps seems to have my location pegged pretty good.
Any thoughts on getting better results or instructions on removing the factory install of Google voice search or updating it?
If it makes a difference all testing has been done on WiFi from my home network.
Thanks for any input you might have.
I havent tested mine at length but my google maps speak destination function works just as well as it did on my Evo. The voice function of the search app works also, but it does take a second to be ready for voice input. As for removing the factory installs of both of those apps, you would need at least root to be able to delete them, and there is a mod for rooted users to flash to the stock rom or ViperROM that will get rid of the bottom menu bar and map the recent apps to home long press and menu to the recent apps softkey, OR it can do the same without getting rid of the menu bar. I think there is also a variant of the mod that also maps voice search to recent apps long press, but don't quote me on that. Either way, for right now it seems the only way to try and solve the problems you have is to either root it, wait it out, or return the phone and see if a new one works better.

Two things that randomly seemed to start happening.

As just a bit of insight I am currently running Vanilla Rootbox(current version) + Houcha Kernel(2013-05-18-16-02-geeb-fs) with no issues major issues to speak of.
Yesterday (mostly because I was at the beach and bored) I installed tunein pro and decided I would play music through the aux input of my car stereo.
While using it I noticed that Google Voice Search kept popping up every 20-30 seconds while the phone was laying there on my car seat, i have since uninstalled tunein pro but the issue still happens.
I have tried several times un-selecting that option from the keyboard as well as checking the settings for Google Voice Search to no avail.
So, I guess my question is:
Is there a way to PERMANENTLY disable the Google voice search option?
*additional but not so important: is there a known way to remove the stuck widget for Google search from the top of the screen? I'd rather have the extra screen space.... If i need to use Google search for any reason it wouldn't kill me to open any of my four web browsers.
disregard the "two things" in the topic name...I've decided to bring up the second issue in the Houcha Kernel Thread

[Q] New to the Note 3, have a few questions

I installed the TTS Samsung HD UK voice. I'm American, but prefer that voice. I installed it but no app seem to use it. S Voice still sounds like a robot. I thought it would just be easier to switch to google for tts, but google doesnt play music on my command. Is it even possible to chamge S Voice's voice? I find google is great for searching, but S Voice controlls the phone. I plan to use Hands Free a lot while driving and really want to change the voice. Any help with this?
Dolphin browser: Do I have to hit OK before I download an image every time? I set dedault download location to SD, and just thought it would automatically download there after I choose Save As. Thoughts?
Odd question: Might sound weird, but I'm pretty sure the phone had a lock screen that I didnt install. It was black with white icons for phone, email etc.I thought it was something in Nova Prime, bit havrnt seen it since. What could this have been, Glitch?

[Q] Mute using volume down button, and Google maps no Street names

I updated Google maps on the s6 edge and Google maps no longer says the street names. It only says "turn right now" rather than turn right on xyz Street.
Second issue, I'm coming from an s4, and before if I pushed the volume down button, it would go to vibrate, and if you pushed it once more, it would mute the phone. This doesn't work on the s6 edge, it stops at vibrate. Was this removed with lollipop?
Hmm, maybe you should check your text-to-speech settings?
And the the second question: Yes, thats lollipop !
Bye, Peter
After doing some research, it appears that the newer versions of Google maps don't use the same text-to-speech option as the settings menu within the phone. They all default to the same female voice which doesn't say street names.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both google maps and google text-to-speech, clearing the cache from both, and ensuring the system language is all set to English (United States).
I have also tried downloading Samsung's high quality text-to-speech voice pack without any success, and installing Innova.
The only solution I can think of is downloading a Google Maps APK prior to 9.2.0, which is when I believe the issue started to arise. The problem I have is that the S6 edge comes with 9.2, and I'm not sure how to downgrade. I can only uninstall the updates from Application manager, but it still leaves 9.2 intact and won't allow me to install a prior version APK.
Is this something that requires root access? I'd rather not have to root my phone in order to get google maps to work!
Thanks for all of your help,
Chris
Anyone else experiencing the volume button issue? On my S6 Edge if I press the volume down it will go to vibrate as well as silent. Kind of wish I had your issue as I inadvetently hit the volume button during the day turning my phone from vibrate to silent.

Google Assistant driving me INSANE

When activated Google assistant interrupts constantly, as often as every couple of seconds sometimes. I have tried the advice from every thread that I can find on the subject, but nothing works.
When disabled I then get constant pop ups of the notification prompting me to turn it back on!
I have a Xiaomi MI9 running android 10, but it doesn't have the normal menu that is present on the phones used in all the articles or videos showing how to be rid of google assistant. So for example on my phone the google app does not appear in the app manager list, and nowhere can I find the 'default apps' option.
I even tried - as suggested by some - installing Amazon Alexa as the assistant app, but there's no way to toggle between them and I still get pestered all the time but the google app, disabled or otherwise.
I am ready to consider any option, getting of the MIUI, rooting the phone, setting it on fire, whatever I need to do to be rid of this issue, It's making my phone unusable.
Please help!
