[Q] HELP! SIII does nothing! - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hope you guys can help me.
Yesterday my Galaxy SIII went dark and I haven't been able to get it working again.
The phone literally does nothing: screen is dark, it won't boot and nothing works.
Since I installed the official Jellybean update last week it didn't work as fast and stable as it used to do.
Yesterday I saw the LED flashing due to a new e-mail. I pressed the power button to wake-up the phone but it didn't respond.
Home button, volume buttons nothing responded. In the end I performed a hard reset. Tried to power it on again: nothing...
- Hooked the phone to the charger: nothing. Not even a LED.
- Connected the phone to my laptop: nothing. Also when I try to connect to the phone via Kies.
- Tried to boot into recovery mode: nothing. Held the button-combination in all different ways (long, short, really long etc nothing)
- Removed the simcard and SD card and tried everything above: nothing.
It's completely dead and I get totally no response.
I received my unbranded SIII in June 2012, phone is not rooted and nothing is changed or altered.
Is there anything I can do that I haven't tried already?
Please help!
Thank you

Try a battery or return to a service centre .

Help, my Steak won´t power up

Hello Community,
first of all please excuse for my bad english. I´m trying to explain my problem. Today I wanted to root my Dell and wanted to flash the newest DJ Steve ROM. All startet fine and there were no problems. I have successfully rooted my phone. After that I tried to flash the Clockwork recovery. Also this went successfully. Then I cleared the cache with fastboot. At this point my phone stucked and nothing happened. I removed the batterie, put it back in and now my phone won´t power up. I tried several opportunities I found in the World Wide Web. But nothing helped with my issue.
Somebody had the same problem and can help me out?
Thanks in advance
Did you try factory reset yet?if no!remove battery, put it back, hold the volume up and down button and press the power button(hold it at least 10 seconds)and choose factory reset.goood luck
Use a bit more peanut oil.
I tried all the things that are supposed to do. I tried to factory reset, I tried to get in fastboot modus but nothing happened. The phone didn´t even turn on. It get´s no power.
What do you mean with peanut oil? Are you kidding?

I've just done exactly the same thing, any tips on getting it working?
Tried holding down various combination of buttons to turn it on. Plugged it in to laptop to use qdl tool but nothing being detected on usb.
try keeping it connected to charger for sometime and switch is on , when connected to the charger.
If possible test that the battery is working
I've tried that but will give it another go.
Also tried connected to mains & USB with battery removed but still nothing on screen.
same situation
i sorta have the same situation but my goes to the dell screen but it doesnt go anywhere else the home and menu button lights up continuously and then stops flashing on the menu button and then it reboots what does that mean?
That doesn't sound too bad, do a factory reset with the volume buttons. If you still have no luck use clockwork mod to reflash the rom or go back to stock.
I'm getting a new one tomorrow, mine is toast.
Hey guys, the end of the story in my case was, that I had to sent my Dell to the Dell Support in Hungary. They fixed the problem quikly and today I became my Dell back. But now I´ve got a new problem. It is locked. When I bought it on ebay it was unlocked and after Dell repaired and probably flashed my Dell ich have to purchase an unlock code. Or is there another way to unlock my Dell?

[Q] Can't get to Download Mode - stuck on loading screen

Hi All,
So, I tried to flash Cyanogen mod last night using the instructions here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Vibrant:_Full_Update_Guide. I was coming from a BIONIX ROM that flashed fine.
Anyways, the phone went into a reboot loop in the recovery screen and I foolishly just held the power button until it stopped. When I turned it back on it was broken. That is, now all it does is display the white Vibrant logo in the middle of the screen with the smaller Samsung logo below it. If I hold the power button for about 8 seconds the screen goes black for about 2 seconds and then comes right back up to where it was. I can't seem to even turn the phone off any more. It just stays on that screen permanently unless I hold the power button, in which case the screen is off for 2 out of every 10 seconds. Yanking the battery of course turns it off, but putting it back in immediately returns it to the state I've described.
I've scoured these forums and tried every button press + battery state + cable state + SD card/SIM state combo suggested, but the phone won't go to download or recovery mode. I found one thread describing the exact same problem. The OP said he'd try a jig and then disappeared without any further updates. I'm going to try to get my friend to make a jig using one of these sets of instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
http://factoidz.com/how-to-unbrick-your-samsung-vibrant-galaxy-s/
but until then my questions is: does anyone have any experience with this problem (can't even turn the phone off)? If so, do you have any recommendations? Did a Jig work?
keep trying to get to download mode, pull battery, plug usb in to computer and to the phone, while holding both volume up and volume down pop in the battery. People have tried hundreds of times with it not working and then all of a sudden *bam* download mode.
So... my friend made me a jig and it works in that I can see the shoveling droid indicating download mode. However Heimdall/Odin won't recognize my phone. Heimdall's zadig utility won't locate the phone either, even with the cable plugged in. I'm, once again, stumped.
Just an update; I've tried Odin on three different computers, two Windows 7 (64 bit) and a Mac (with Heimdall). None of them seem to recognize the phone. Device manager on the Windows 7 machine does not update when I plug the phone in (in Download mode via the jig or not) and I can't find anything about Samsung in it anywhere. However I have installed the Samsung drivers; a few different sets I've found around the forums. I've also tried a couple utilities like the Vibrant toolbox and one click unbrick. Nothing seems to have any effect. I was so hopeful when the jig worked and got me to download mode, but now it's seeming I'm actually bricked. Has anyone seen a phone that could get to download mode but still be bricked? Oh, and I checked the cable using a friend's phone; her Mac recognized her phone using the cable. Haven't tried her phone on my Window's machines though.
Once again, any help is more than appreciated.
Have you tried to see if adb is working? If it does then try adb reboot recovery? If it works there is a file I can post for you later (is in my pc) that can restore your sbl.bin and fix your download mode problems.
Thanks for your help everyone, the problem was apparently resolved by a new cable; which is strange because the old one works for data transfers... just not for flashing apaprently. :S

[Q] Problems while rooting. How to restore?

Hello all.
Today, I tried to root my TELUS Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate by using Odin and CWM3-Voodoo-blue.tar.md5. I received a "FAIL!" message, so I pressed Start again, which yielded nothing. So, I removed the USB cord from the phone and tried to boot it up. Nothing happened. I tried to use cwm-recovery-ALL.tar, but, again, I received a "FAIL!" message, and ended up with nothing.
It seems, at the moment, the phone can boot up in download mode (Vol Up + Vol Down + Power). However, the screen appears filled with randomly coloured pixels, and nothing else works on the phone. Is there a way to recover my phone from this state?
I'm going to sleep right now, so I won't be able to reply right away, but I'll check replies as soon as possible.
EDIT: Now, it seems as if the screen isn't booting up at all. However, I can still see the download screen with Vol Up+Vol Down. I don't think the phone was rooted at all, so I'm thinking of sending it back to Samsung so they can fix it. Is there a way to check if a phone is fully rooted or not?

[Q] Dead Galaxy S2

Today I was running a full titanium backup of my rooted S2.
The process stopped halfway trough (slightly greyed out screen, and no response).
I held the power button down for some time to turn it off. Turned it on right after and it showed the galaxy S 2 screen with the warning (rooted phone).
It didn't boot from there, so I tried to turn it off and on a few times.
As it didn't boot, I removed the battery and reinserted it. After this, the phone doesn't turn on at all.
No key combinations work. No download mode, no recovery and no normal boot. Tried with/without SIM/SD charger etc.
Any advice or just send it back to the shop?

Post should be in Q&A
Usb Recovery jig may get you to download mode .
As the phone is rooted warranty is void .

Is your phone locked to a particular carrier?
If the jig doesn't turn it on, then it sounds toast, hardware issue maybe, and if it doesn't boot, they won't be able to tell that its rooted so you should be able to get it fixed under warranty.

Rooted Galaxy S3 bricked

Today I felt that something was heating up my pocket so I took out my phone. The phone was showing the Cyanogenmod boot animation and it was very very hot. I decided to turn it off from the power button. When I wanted to turn it back on, it didn't work. No vibration, no beep, nothing.
I have tested the battery on another phone and it is working properly. I have tried removing the battery, pressing the power button + home button, I have tried entering download/recovery mode and nothing happened. I plugged in the USB in my laptop, nothing happened. I can't even see the "Galaxy S III i9300" booting animation.
The software installed was "[5.1.1] [Build 17] [BETA] [2015-09-11] CyanogenMod 12.1 for i9300 ". Is there any way that I can fix my device by restoring it to stock or anything? Thank you!
This Is How I Fixed Mine
Go here, that's how I unbricked mine. Hope I helped
