Amazon App Store
I have been using the Amazon App store on my Gtablet since it first opened. Apps worked great. Recently all of my apps disappeared from the App store. I can no longer get updates. I contacted Amazon and was told on 3 seperate occasions that Amazon had a new filter in place to filter out Apps that the developer said did not work on your device. Well that is a lie. They filtered out all but about 8 apps that I bought. 40+ apps that worked perfectly like Angry Birds and Cut the Rope. What I suspect is that Amazon Filtered every device the developer did not know about. What developer can certify every single android device. The answer is none.
Has everyone else found this to be an issue? Has anyone determined a way to fool amazon into thinking you have a different tablet that amazon things runs most apps? I am not running a custom rom and see no need to but if it it fixes Amazon App store I am open to the issue. I was kind of waiting for a stable Honeycomb (preferably from Viewsonic).
Amazon did give me a credit for the Apps I have purchaced and all the apps I have purchaced are still on my device and work so my only real complaint with Amazon is "How can anyone ever trust them again".
I ran into the same problem on my stock Gtab (build 3588). So far, I've been successful at sideloading several missing "purchased" Amazon apps to the Gtab via my G2 using Titanium Backup. Obviously this is not a preferred long-term solution.
My next step is to try a new build.prop file as noted in thread 861044.
For reference, here's my current Amazon appstore count of "My Apps/All" on three different devices:
T-mo G2: 62
G Tablet: 8
T-mo TP2: 61
The Touch Pro 2 is running Project Android with an uncharged Italian prepaid SIM card, and for some reason, the only app missing is Age of Zombies (which for the most part, works fine on Gtab via sideload).
Amazon only half prevented
I have since found that while you cannot go to my apps and update them you can find the app in the store and it will indicate it needs to be updated. When you select update nothing happens. when you close down and start the store back up it installs the app.
I have also found that you can still buy apps even though you can never update them.
I also have about 60+ apps purchaced and only 8 that show up on my gtablet. The issue I have is I do not have another Android device.
This happened to me as well. I contacted amazon, but they were of no help. So I took what I know, and others experience with different apps and found the solution.
Go to settings, applications. Find Amazon app market, and wipe data and cache. Open the market back up, log in (you'll need to re-enter username and password) and tada your apps have returned.
edit:
another solutions would be to uninstall, and re-install the app market.
Yesterday morning, after downloading the free app of the day, I checked "my apps" and it said that I had only 11 new apps. When I selected "all" I saw 14 apps. After wiping data and cache, I now have 74 "new apps" and 115 "all" apps.
I described the problem to Amazon 2 times, and I still don't think they understood what I was saying. I tried telling them that I had an app (Grisly Manor) installed on my tablet, that I had downloaded for free from them. In the Amazon app, it no longer appeared in any of my lists. On the web version, it shows up as being "purchased" I have a receipt and all...but it no longer shows on my Amazon App interface.
each time they instructed me on how to open an app, or how to open the "all" page in "my apps."
They are morons, I'm just glad I figured it out on my own.
Worked great
I talked to Amazon a number of times and even more than that. Amazon told me that they had corrected their compatibility filter to only allow apps that were compatible with my device. They said incompatible devices were given to them from the developers. I told them that was a load of .... and there was no way developers verified every single device to say if it worked or not. I suspected that if what they said was true they were only allowing devices that the developer said worked and ours is probably long forgotten.
Some kind of corruption issue is a much better answer.
Thanks a lot.

Didn't work from me.
Clear cash and data, still no previously installed apps showing.
Uninstalled and re-downloaded and installed, still no apps.
Running stock 3558 with enhancements.
Is anyone else having a problem with Amazon App Store.
I still cannot find any apps compatible with Gtab.
Clearing Cache and Data fixed the issue for me
I am running the stock rom with all updates from viewsonic. When I cleared the data and cache in the Appstore all of my apps returned. It went from 8 to over 80.
It never prevented me from buying apps just seeing them in my apps and updating them. I have never had any issue with finding apps to buy including the free app of the day.
Probably an easy question but when I go into my apps it lists everyone I ever downloaded. How do I get rid of them so I dont have to scroll or auto download?
Guess nobody knows?
It should only list the ones you paid for, and of course the ones you have currently installed.
Free apps that you downloaded, and then uninstalled should only stay there until reboot (I believe)

Nope lists everything I ever had. Sick of going through 10 pages of stuff.
Try going into settings applications and market (or google play if you have the updated one), clear cache and data then open the maket up again accepting the terms and conditions. Go to my apps again and it should have cleared them.

I agree with clearing the market/play cache in app management.

Ok normally I can figure this out. Guess Im a little slow today but dont see that anywhere. I open google play , go to settings and dont have that option anywhere.
Go into phone settings not google play settings. Then applications then all tab at the top of screen. Find google play and tap it tap clear cache and clear data. Then start google play app as normal and accept the terms and conditions. Job done hopefully!

Because he used the words "10 pages of stuff", I believe the OP is talking about the website, not the phone app. https://play.google.com/store does show every app you've downloaded. It'll also show old phones you may not even own anymore. No way to get rid of them afaik, and if you google the problem theres all sorts of talk about it out there.

Yes that is correct as Ive flashed several Roms and anything I did have would have been cleared by now. Also yes to the webpage for google and it lists phones. That has changed several times. Guess I will google and try and find the answer. Thanks.
Post back if you do find a solution but the last I dug around on the subject a month or so ago, old apps and old devices are not removable from the Play website. Its something Google controls and there is nothing end users can do at this point.
Here's a good start for you with some relevant links: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1442148
While the link(s) above pertain mostly to removing old devices, the same goes for old apps. It seems Google is quite aware of it but does not want to give us control over removing such items.
The question of the day is, why?

Nobody wants to give up control. When setting up a Rom I have had it try to use Backup Asst. and I dont want it. So when I set up google I use to get these texts from verizon. Some whack crap. Called and funny how one tech takes care of it and the other is plain out stupid. I had one say freeze/force stop backup asst which you cant do because force stop just restarts. One tech took care of it and the other put in a trouble ticket.
Hi,
Since trying out all these new ROMs out there (hats off to their wonderful work), I've noticed that the att modded roms have a market feature that's been driving me batty. I'm not saying its the at&t roms, but I've just noticed this since I started these roms.
The"my app" section used to have a list of the installed apps, and below it was a list on the apps I've purchased, which is cool.
What I've noticed recently in the"my apps" section is a page with the installed apps, then if I swipe to the right, the page shows all the purchased apps, plus all the other apps I've installed since I've started using the market (ones I've stopped using out didn't like and uninstalled). Which I'd cluttered and annoying when reloading apps.
My question is, if it is the version of the market, can I load the Rogers version of the market, out if that isn't practical, can I devourer this list somehow?
Not a huge issue, but an annoyance.
Thank you in advance.
+1

Thanks for all the great info. I want aware that was a feature of the new play market.
It's very annoying.. Thanks for the advice of restoring from titanium. I should be able to pull a market apk out of an old ROM zip and install it.
Play needs filters!
Google needs to have a way to sort purchased apps from every other app I downloaded within the past 6 months, which is MANY. I have to scroll 3 pages then might see one purchased app, scroll two more pages to see another couple...

What that guy said.
I find it easier to manage my apps from a computer. I just log onto my google account and then send the apps to the device I want them on...
https://play.google.com/apps
market, website bug
Using PC was my bright idea, untill I figured out, that it only shows you about 10 pages of your apps, alphabeticaly, and there is no way to show next one, so my list ends on letter G.
Also using market on the device after choosing to install an app from the list, I am returned to the beginning of the [email protected]#! Major annoyance.
Also I have restored the device and then logged back in using same account, only to figure that it will not put all the apps back on...
So, if I could have a suggestion- could we have ability to have an app list to install in one click on a new device? Or at the least could we have our apps list with boxes for checkmarks, so we can check all of the nessesary apps and then install them?.... sigh
Where can i see all the purchased apps?
Did they just make it so you see the install history? very annoying :-\

I don't want to see all. Just purchased....
When you pull up play store and you go to "my apps". It puts you at the installed list, if you swipe left to right you go to "all" which is a mix of purchased and non purchased apps. swiping right to left from all just goes back to installed, and you can not swipe right to left from installed. Someone care to show a screenshot of their play store "purchased" list without all the history?
Installed shows everything you have installed since you flashed, bought the phone, whatever. ALL shows everything mixed, purchased and non purchased apps installed on that account..
Where is the "purchased tab"? Before the market went to Play, you could see an Installed / Not Installed list, the Not Installed list ONLY showed purchased apps, nothing else.. Is there a way to get that back?

Not on the phone. Their might be a way via the website, I rarely log in to the Playstore website.
Im just curious as to why this is a problem? Its not a big deal to scroll thru the list and look for the word "Purchased" on the right hand side, I have a list that is massively long because I have downloaded a crap load of apps (but I usually uninstall them shortly afterwards) and Im easily able to find what Im looking for, especially since the list provided is chronological.
Yes, it would be nice to have filtering and sorting options but I know right around when I downloaded a specific app that I dont remember the name for.
Now, if you have Appbrain installed, I do believe their website has filtering and sorting available for your install history...
Oh, if the reason is because during the Android initial setup process, all your apps automatically install, just uncheck the 'restore my phone settings' option when prompted (its on the screen either just before or just after the 'backup my phone' option).
It's a big deal.
Very annoying.

Yea, Its very annoying. Cause I have to search for my PAID apps, As it shows almost everything ive downloaded since 2010!
I guess, I find it quite useful actually.
The way it used to be, that free app I downloaded 3 months ago that I couldnt remember the name of, I can now find.
It also doesnt help that a few apps had a key which is the paid portion of said app without having the free portion of the app. Yes, I know I could go into the 'key' app and then look at related or more from the developer to get the actual app itself but now its in the list.
As I said, some filtering and sorting options would be nice but you can always scroll thru the list and look for the word 'Purchased'. Its not hard to do. And if you have a general idea of when you purchased the app, it gives you an idea of how far back to scroll.
The Play store is definately in need of more filtering options!
Can't agree more about missing the list of the purchased (but not installed apps)..
I used to purchase apps that I thought would come in useful at some point down the track and use it as a bit of a bookmark that I could easily access..
Showing everything that's been installed is useful to some people I suppose, but there should be a filter, or another screen to filter by things I've actually paid for and aren't installed.
yea um you cant even see all the apps on the website it shows 20 blocks and no more. 12 per page 20 blocks. 224 apps thats it i have some old apps that i purchased on the hero back when it was first released and i can no longer get to them. its really freakin annoying having to search for PAID apps. this was the WORST decision they could have made. really how hard would it have been to make a 3rd column for recent free apps. or something like that.
Google wallet does a pretty good job of storing your paid app history.
Has this issue ever been sorted?
No, the new version of the market still lacks this valuable feature.
Google Checkout
Its still a pain and not a direct download link to the app, but you can view your transaction history on Google checkout and then find the app in the store (wallet dot google dot com). I've run into the same issue after wiping my phone and trying to remember what i've actually purchased for re-download.
I wish there were an easier way to simply sort by paid/free in you history as with the general market.

Where are my paid apps in the market?
I have over 97 "Paid" apps that I would go to after a rom flash, then I moved onto TI back up because of the simplicity of doing a restore.
In the past with the Samsung Vibrant 2.2 rom , when I go to the market, under my apps, I would see my apps that I paid for.
Now with my New Samsung SG3 4.xx rom , when I go to the market, half of them are gone. It's like I have to search for them and half of the time I cant remember what it was I had installed until I need that app.
What is the fix for this?
How do I see ALL of my paid apps at the Android market?
In Google Play, go to menu and then 'My apps'. A list of installed app will be displayed. Swipe to the right, and a list of previously installed app will appear. Select your paid apps from this list.

There's also an app I heard about just yesterday named "Legacy Play Store" that will only display your PAID apps. You can sideload it without root on pre-Jellybean devices (need root on JB).
I just tried the legacy play store app and all I got was f/c's.

Thanks Viva_SA; for your reply but even that does not list all of the apps.
This is what happens when you have over 10 billion apps sold and a large fragmentatio
Yes I agree, there should be a better way to have your paid apps listed, ALL of your paid apps.
I think google knows of this because I am not the only one with this problem and as the play market becomes mature, I am sure that there are other bugs that are now starting to surface.

Did you check out the legacy play store that was linked? It looks like it will do what we are looking for..
My only question is how do you install an app from a apk?
Defiantly, I love differentiating my purchased apps from my installed apps. I have 4+ devices.... I have 100s of apps installed and a lot are free but I do have numerous paid apps I have purchased that I would like to view without scrolling ALL the way to the bottom of the My Apps page.
Also, play.google.com does not properly detect when an app IS NOT installed on your phone so you cannot install a app from the website that was previously on your phone.

I have asked the support from the Google Market Place before it was changed to Play. This is what they told me, regarding installing apps on multiple devices. The Apps from the Market, now Play are tied into your email address hence your account. Not a phone number, so if you are to have 4 phones, as long as they are signed into a valid single account then you are free to install your apps on each puppy.
The white link is "My Orders & Settings" on the footer of the page......
