New voice engine issues - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HTC HD2 American Android 2.3 just installed a new TTS engine IVONA to replace the stock PICO. Works great but I can't get it to work for my stock GPS app. Works for Google books and Google translate but not NAV. Any help appreciated thanks.

[Q] How to get stock TTS voices

I believe that the stock ROM has some SVOX TTS voices loaded that sound pretty good to me. Is there a way to get these loaded on a custom ROM (Nero v3 for example)? I've searched SVOX, but didn't find anything.
Have you tried visiting "Settings->Voice Input and Output->Text to Speech Settings->Install Voice Data"? That usually will download what I think you're after.
I prefer the paid TTS Engine from Loquendo. Which is available from the Market. This REQUIRES a 2.2 (or later) rom (like Nero v3) as it will not work on any 2.1 or earlier rom.
The only options are $3 voice downloads. I know stock had some free voices, because they are sitting on my internal SD still. I don't know what I'm missing to use them though.
FWIW I ended up buying the $3 UK female SVOX voice because it sounded better than the Loquendo voice. I think the free voices I thought I had on stock was just the stock voices that seem to have become Pico TTS in 2.2

Ivona is one of the better Text-To-Speech alternative I've come across

If you guys are tired of the robotic TTS voice for our phones, you guys should try this app out. It's awesome. I use Amy UK voice. Sounds sexy lol. So far it works for google nav, EVA voice assistance, Iris, any other app that uses the phones built in TTS. IVONA can be found in the Market and require downloading selected voice to your phone.
I think I found out about this app via Androidspin tweet.
I like the Svox Classic TTS myself, with the Victoria UK, but to each their own I guess. It's just nice to know there are alternatives to the robot.

I've just tried Svox. Is there any free UK voices? It seems all the voices you have to pay for.

I have been using this same setup for some time now.
Have really enjoyed it so far, and a nice change to the stock voice.
Well worth the money.

[Q] Google Now Voice

I have the SGS 3 on the xxdli6 rom currently.
Does anyone know how to change the Google Now Voice in the SGS3 to the Voice on the Nexus 7?
Other than that, Google Now's been working perfectly.
