Does anyone have a list of unneeded services for my stock JB S3 please as I'm trying to optimize performance.*
I have tried searching the forum for "unneeded services" and "bloatware" but both searches have been unsuccessful.
Also is there any benefit to a lot of the stock Samsung apps, or am I ok to delete them? If I do delete them, can I just redownload them from the play/Samsung app store?
Any help offered would be much appreciated.

It also seems like it's sorta kinda a work in progress still.. so if you happen to do more than that... you can probably help the OP update the list.
Keep in mind that in order to uninstall stock apps or disable some startup services, you necessarily need to root your phone.

I have noticed these chinese apps some how self installing on my S2.
Any idea how to get to the source of these unauthorized installs? (Lookout & AVG & NetQin don't detect them as malicious or find any reason for how they are getting on there).
Currently using KH3 + CFRoot.

It should not be possible for this to happen.
Does your phone have any connection with China or have you installed any Chinese software?
If this is happening then you must have done something yourself to start the process. Nothing can install itself without your consent, unless there's malicious software that's bypassing the system and installing for you, but you would have had to install that first.
So, as above, a lot more information is needed. Personally, I'd just do a complete wipe and hard reset and never install anything from untrusted sources again, including warez, 3rd party app stores and the Chinese Market, which is known to have had dodgy software before now.
My friend got an S2 from China and it was preloaded with all those Chinese apps. Examples include QQ Security Suite and some other apps. I used Titanium Backup to uninstall but after each restart, the app re-appears!
I was surprised that Titanium couldn't uninstall. It says it uninstalled successfully but it just re-appears. The only thing I could do is to do a re-flash to a Hong Kong firmware without all those pre-loaded Chinese apps.
But before you wipe everything, please help us try and find out how it happened?
Again has this happened to any one else? Because I want to know if this could happen to my phone!
Mine also did this on stock rom i would uninstall samsung apps reboot and it would reappear on my menu. Is it possible the rom comes with an auto install script for the preloaded apps?

If you have CF-Root, you have super user installed. Review your permissions. You can also install LBE privacy guard and set permissions for all apps as well, including many system apps (you'll need to 'untrust' them first).

Sorry for the little information guys, was 5am and very tired
I deleted the second incarnation of the app as soon as I saw it (worried about personal details being taken etc.) however it if it reappears again then I will screenshot it.
Virus scanners don't detect them as malicious, when the program opened (after stealth install) I went through it, albeit in Chinese it looked like a legit program and the menu worked etc.
I have market 3.1.3 installed (got the apk off the internet) and a few apps that got removed from the market place (torrent clients and certain games I couldn't find etc.) so it could well have been put in them.
I'm thinking about a hard reset, not using titan backup to avoid it coming back and a re-flash.
Also my phone has no connection with China (purchased in the UK), this has only happened recently.
Is there any more info needed before reset etc.?

Issue is the damage seems to have been done, looks like I have no choice but to reflash etc. Need a virus scanner that has root so it can do a deeper scan.
Superuser is a lot like UAC on Windows Vista/7, it will popup and ask you to allow/deny.
Also is there any way to wipe the device while re flashing to ensure this gets removed?
I found a folder on my Internal Storage "QinqiQuan" (Google Image search pinpoints this as one of the apps) which translates in Chinese to English as "Infringement", however the app itself appears to be a legitimate Chinese social app so I'm not sure of my original concern regarding "Infringement" being copyright related etc.
Another few suspicious folders were "the9GameCenter" & "waze".
In future I'll be sticking the Market and official sites, even if that means doing without certain apps that aren't available on my handset/region

The apps themselves appear legitimate, but I didn't authorize the installs which is what worries me.
I wiped internal storage, wiped data and then re-flashed + CFRooted.
Hopefully what ever it was, won't come back
And how about the security in your computer? As we know, you can install an app in your phone via your market account using your computer. Perhaps someone is playing around with your market account. If this is the case, changing your password would be a good idea.

Yeah I have changed my password and turned on all the Google security settings, albeit a bit of pain, does give peace of mind

After searching for weeks, the only 'blacklisting apps' I can find are designed to blacklist certain numbers.
Is there currently an app where you can search your currently running processes, and add a selected process to a list that will not automatically start running unless manually overridden?
There are WAY too many apps that I rarely use but want to keep, or cannot remove, that keep popping up and slowing down my performance, and i want a way to manually clean up, and keep things tidy.

Anybody? I find it hard to believe that there is no way to do this with all of the experienced people on this platform... Im aware that you can FREEZE procceses and apps with Titanium Backup, but I'd rather not pay for that if i dont have to...

What processes or apps can I remove without affecting the way the phone functions (i.e. google partner setup). Is it possible to create a program to remove all unwanted processes without flashing a new ROM.
I'll also like to increase the connectivity speed to HSPA+.

My favorite app is called titanium backup, it lets you remove everything you want and if you make a mistake you can restore what you deleted. The freeze option on the paid version is really good.
Titanium Backup is easily the most useful app for any rooted phone. The paid version is not much better than the free version, other than giving the developer some support and appreciation. It lets you freeze apps so they no longer appear in your app drawer, and even uninstall bloatware that you specifically select. It's a must have and it will definitely save you more than once! Hope this helps

I'm in the process of recovering after updating to the latest ROM/firmware using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149095
Everything seems to be working smoothly so far, except I'm having trouble de-bloating. Being a n00b, I remember being able to uninstall just about any app I wished to delete after finishing the dirty work of rooting and such directly in the operating system (drag the shortcut to the uninstall label at the top of the screen). I cannot remember how exactly I got to that point...I've tried running a script I found to auto de-bloat while in the bootloader, no luck.
Also, my apps do not seem to be auto downloading again as they had after I went through the rooting process a month ago. Having the phone re-install apps, and even properly replace their shortcuts was quite nice ...any ideas on that one as well?

Settings -> Apps -> All, tap an app, choose disable.
I do remember you could just drag a shortcut right from the app drawer to the "info" and then disable. But it doesn't work now, maybe after update...

Thanks for the reply! I've disabled many of the apps, too bad they're not truly uninstalled though. I do know before the update, I was able to uninstall most Verizon apps using the app drawer (all but voicemail which was still protected for good reasons). But now, I can't seem to do that anymore. Ill try installing bloatware remover v3, still can't remember what exactly allowed me to directly uninstall the apps. Maybe its just the update that's causing this.
EDIT: Nevermind! Got it. It was the Bloatware Remover v3 that allowed me to do this. Thanks for the feedback though!
Maybe the apps aren't auto recovering due to this being a new version of the rom. Apps are treating my phone as if it's new, even though I'm connected to my Google account.

Rooting Process for S4
I am totally new to rooting. I need to remove built in apps on my Samsung S4 i9505. Doors I have to root the phone first and remove apps after with Titanium back up app? Or can I remove apps without rooting? Please help

Root is required with any Android phone to remove system apps. If you root, be very careful though. If you're new to rooting, it's very easy to do the wrong thing, and/or think you're more clever than you actually are, and make a catastrophic mistake (I speak from experience). FYI, removing a system app won't free up space; it's in the system partition, which has a set size, and deleting system apps won't give you more space for other apps or whatever.
Without root, you should still be able to disable system apps, which has essentially the same effect as removing them. But again, be careful. If in doubt, ask. There's a couple "noob, ask anything" threads, and you shouldn't feel embarrassed or intimidated to ask questions that you might think would annoy others because they're too "noobish". We'd rather you didn't mess up your phone than bother us with "stupid" questions.
As mentioned, you need root. However, I do not recommend removing the apps, for 2 reasons. 1, you don't get any additional storage back on your device as the apps and data you add to the device are stored in a different partition anyway. And 2, if you want to do an OTA update or if you remove an important app or service, it's much easier to reenable vs reinstall. Now, if system apps have updated through the Play Store, then those do take up some data. You can uninstall updates, then freeze the app, which is the safest way to do it. Many apps can just be disabled through the stock Application Manager without root as well.
