It's all personal experience. Every phone is built differently. It also depends on which apps you use and your wakelocks. If you don't know what wakelocks are then google them and BetterBatteryStats. It will help you pinpoint the problem
INB4 "Just tell me the best rom or don't post"
INB4 Here is the biggest spoon feed ever (Insert roms plus kernel options)

Betterbatterystats is a foreign language to me.

Well better start learning! There is a FAQ

And also ICS covers a pretty broad spectrum of ROMs here, so you can't say it sucks on battery.

You also posted pretty much the same question in the general section. Double posting is no bueno and so is best rom threads. Too many factors in determining battery life.

JB sucks so much of battery.
ICS suck a lot of battery.
GB suck reasonably battery.
I am wondering whether or not going back to Froyo or even Eclair.

I'd be on donut if I could. Super D FTW!
For you noobs, Super D was one of the best Donut ROMs for the dream. most likely before your time

If it's battery life you want, go with a Gingerbread ROM. That's what I'm on because GB is so snappy and sexy.
Unnamed, ICScrewed, etc.

Battery life will differ from one device to another depending on many things. A search would gave shown you this

Don't leave me behind Gingerbread! (best standby rom on GB)

Ok, so I made a thread about a month ago asking for a battery saving Froyo ROM, most suggested was Bi Winning, and i've been on it since.
While on Bi Winning I noticed something..
Sometimes my phone would be at 50% at night when i recharge it, or most of the time 70's and 80's
I know I don't use my phone extensively as most of you do, but MORE than HALF of the time, my phone is on standby. Are there any good GB roms that have good standby battery? I'm planning on going to the new ROM JETPACK, because I think it looks beautiful. Any suggestions guys?
Yes. Simply Honey just calibrate your battery. Trust me. But try jetpack

Gingerzen. I get about 18 hrs daily and for the most part my phone is in stand by. Its also not themed out with a bunch of junk like simply honey or any of those roms.

Actually gingerzen is on rootzwiki and I think xda. Brick'd made it

When do you think ICS is going to be released; should I install an ICS-based ROM?

When do you think ICS is going to be released for the Note? I've been holding out on installing custom ROMs, but if it's still going to be a while, I might as well do it.
Also, which ROMs (ICS) are the best? Is the battery life better or worse? Are there a lot of bugs?
I never try any custom Rom yet but usually there is always bugs on custom roms. I just suggest u wait for the official ics.

I'm using the unofficial. Then stripped out every last bit of bloat before installing apps. Vastly better than stock and only one rom flash. Plus the -k holokernel. My guess is ICS official won't come out until late May or June at the earliest. Even after that there will be custom roms based on it so I'm not going to bother until a good custom rom based on the official ICS comes out.

Be nice. Everything in any kind of forum is subjective.
I could also say you dont know what you're talking about if that's my opinion.
Im a senior software engineer who simply does not have the time to even look at Roms.
Does that make me "nuts?"
ICS seraphim is awesome. Works very smooth and is polished. There are very few known issues with most of these roms, nothing that should be a deal breaker for anyone.
Apex launcher is infinately better than touchwiz.
Also, ics stock revamped is another great rom ported over by smartguy044.

Reading will tell you all of the features in less time than it takes somebody else to look them up for you, type a response, and for you to read their response. Trying out the roms yourself will show you everything and you can figure out your own likes and dislikes of every ROM.

Linaro Android Doubles ICS Performance

Just read this:

Greater performance=more usable phone at low frequencies
Low frequencies=better battery
my friend has a Gnex and said he flashed it and it made a huge boost in smoothness. If we found out any way to incorporate it into sense immagine how smooth our phone would be
I dont see how ICS could be any more fluid... ICS with sense fragments still left in it runs perfect even at 800mhz. I don't see how it could be any better!

Faster performance has the potential to increase battery life. If you can get the same task done in half the time, you return to idle faster, and this conserve power.

New to the i777

I came from an Atrix 2 with about 2 months of iOS usage in between. I'm currently stock 4.0.3 rooted with Cherrypicker V 3.1. I was wondering what some people considers to be the better ROM or combination of different mods. I helped a lot and became a senior member from the Atrix 2 thread but I've been gone for a while. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You came at a pretty good time. Most ROMs are really stable and Jellybean is just about to hit. What I like to do is play around with different ROMs and see which one I like best. It's what makes Android fun! For a ROM recommendation, I'd have to say SHOstock (if you want that stock TW feel) or task's AOKP (stock Android, plenty of customization)
I know everyone's already said those two but they really are good ROMs. Of course there are other good ones too, so go explore

As myself and Red5 maintain, the best ROM is the one that works for you. It may take a few hours, but give a few a try, and see which YOU like the best.
As the general rule in this board, "vs" threads are no-go, so I am going to close this here (our board was a mess before this rule, with masses of "vs" threads popping up everywhere)...

JB battery life?

Hey there guyz, just wondering, does JB consume the most battery life between ICS and GB?Is it because of its performance?Do u recommend people in XDA to choose GB roms for great battery life and JB roms for extreme performance?Pls guyz, give your opinions Thank you

The rule on the Galaxy S2 forum is that you are not allowed to ask which ROM's are better, which is basically what your thread is asking. This is not allowed as everyone's opinion of a ROM is different, and what performs well for one person may not perform well for you. You must try these ROM's yourself, with different kernels for better performance and battery life to find the optimum setup for you. Sorry but that's the way it is.

Actually if you ask for consumption. I think ics is way more superior in saving battery than JB. There are so many reasons for that. Check the change log on wikipedia you ll come to know. Screen causes more drain on JB. Im also agree with the person who first answered your question.

I've personally noticed I can't get as good battery life with JB as with ICS. I use the same settings, and the same apps, but ICS seems better for me.
On the other hand: some people got great battery life with JB, so I also would recommend to try both versions to compare. Performance-wise (and the wonderfull features), JB is the best
