What does full wipe entail?
I would imagine it involves wiping Cache, and Dalvik Cache, but does it also include a factory reset?
Cache, dalvik cache, system, and factory reset

No problem a proper wipe will solve a lot of issues

I often use Superwipe as well. I have had issues even when wiping all caches and factory reset. Went back and ran superwipe and it fixed me right up

I have used superwipe once... before using SW my backups would take around 2-2.5 minutes after SW they take almost 8 minutes. The SW thread say it will optimize your sd card but it seems like it has done the opposite. Also after running SW it set my PRL back to 25009 when I had flashed it to 56009 So I just do what thicklizard does wipe cache/del cache/factory reset/system

Data Wiped Failed me during ODIN reboot, now I'm stuck, help.
That's a bit vague. What kind of wipe was it? Dalvik cache? DATA partition? Factory reset?
Or, you could just Odin back to stock

I think I did replied, and told you either wipe, or reflash after full wipe
I did that and this si said in my first post. I reflashed more than 5 times with full wipe.

Just in case,
Full wipe = formatting cache, system, data, internal storage
And wiping dalvik
Also after that do not restore any thing, test again.

Hello friends... Now after flashing some mods whenever I restart my phone it says android is upgrading
How to get rid of it...
Coz I really hate when it shows every time...
Please help anyone.
Thanks in advance...
Regards...

I'm sure someone else can answer this better, but I think "Android is upgrading" is shown when Android is rebuilding the Dalvik cache.
This shouldn't happen if you don't wipe dalvik cache before flashing new stuff.
I'm not sure what the consequences of not wiping dalvik cache are...

Thanks for reply... I didn't wipe it those mods wiped it by itself... But after a factory reset problem will be solved but I don't want to restore everything back again... Thts why I'm not wiping Lol
There sud be another way... Let's see if anyone knows it... After all im on xda

The Android is upgrading message is normal. Just ignore it. It has nothing to do with a factory reset.
If you can find an app that allows you to wipe the dalvik cache then do that. Your phone will rebuild the dalvik cache on reboot and you might find that the upgrading message disappears (it worked for me when I was experiencing this issue a while back).
Andromizer has a dalvik cache wiping facility - you might need root access though.
Thanks for reply guys problem is solved ...

I keep reading people suggesting wiping multiple times before flashing a different ROM. Could I get a few people to sound off on the subject? I don't see why you would need to but I am in no way an expert and am hoping to learn something from these responses. Thanks!
Better safe than sorry. Only takes a few seconds.

I've heard both sides of the issue. Some state that you should do it just to make sure to get everything cleaned out in case something was missed the first time. I've also heard that you shouldn't do it, as it puts unnecessary formats on your memory and isn't really needed. I don't wipe multiple times and I don't run into issues.

I don't multiple wipe. But I do wipe multiple areas - system, cache and dalvik every time. Works fine for me.
I was wondering how it could possibly help but I don't know everything for sure

"Full" wipes help with FC and random reboot issues between ROMs. They're not always required, but they do help to ensure "clean" installs and minimal issues when switching ROMs.

multiple wipes was only necessary for older cwm recovery. *it had a bug and wouldnt wipe properly*
newer cwm and twrp2 you have no need to wipe more then once but if it makes you feel better then go ahead

It probably also comes from people having little idea to what is going on.

I found this to make a big difference. When flashing a new rom, make sure you wipe the system before flashing (never used to do this, now I'm finding my fresh installs less buggy). If doing a dirty flash, wipe cache, Dalvik and fix Permissions after.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
OK, that's about what I was thinking. I always wipe system, cache, dalvic, and usually do a factory reset. Thanks for the help everyone
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
If you do a factory reset... That wipes the dalvik cache, as that resides on the data partition. That also wipes the cache partition as well.
And any dev worth flashing a Rom from should have it format /system in the script.
All i have done for ages is factory reset and flash.
So, I need to wipe my phone, but am going to keep it rooted with the d3rp ROM still on it. I was wondering if I should factory reset or upgrade the ROM.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Well, if you want to keep the rom, then dont flash a new one.
What recovery do you have, some have a factory reset option
Just wipe data, cache and dalvik though
