Hi, I really want this phone but I can't seem to bring myself to pay the extra money to upgrade from GS2 T989. Convince me into why you think it was worth the switch from your GS2 to the note.

I had the gs2 and now I've got the note. The note beats it hands down. I did love the Sgs2 but it doesn't compare to this beast!

I moved from the s2 to the note.
Convince you of what? Its all based on what you like and need, no one here can tell you that

convince me if the HD screen is worth it I guess... I'm all about having the best screen, but is it worth selling my GS2 for about 425 and buying a used note for around 550?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
I was debating on the three phones for my upgrade, getting the Note, the Skyrocket, or the GSII. I was a little hesitant getting the Note, when the Skyrocket is close to specs, but I am definitely glad that I did.
I love the size of it, and the GPS lock (huge thing for me), is insanely fast. Usually within 2 seconds, sometimes up to 4 seconds.
Amazing phone, I am so glad I got this.
defiantly worth it...my wife has my s2 now....i love this phone and when playing with a ipod or other phones i couldnt believe the difference, they look so tiny,,,but trust me after a week you'll get use it and love it....
I'm already used to large phone screens from owning the Dell steak 5...I haven't seen a note in person so maybe I should do that lol. I can't imagine what the notes resolution with SAMOLED looks like. It has 3x the amount of pixels as the GS2. Do you guys have lines or blobs like the GS2 has been known for having?

Nope my screen is beautiful!
Laughing at those that doubted the mighty G-Note
My screen is perfect.
If you go into the development area for the phone, and add the tweaks for the build.prop, the screen quality gets even clearer. JPG files are insanely clear on my phone now.
I recently set up an iPhone 4 for a camera install, and I could not believe how small it felt, even with a case on it. I am so glad I opted for this instead of the S3, whenever that comes out. I love the screen and the size.
Thanks for the replies, I'm obsessed with beautiful large screens, so I think will keep looking to buy one on Ebay till I see a like new one for about 500. I can't wait to join the "Note" community lol

SGS2 and skyrocket and galaxy nexus are the bestest of best phone out there,
But Galaxy Note is like their elder brother.
Everything feels way better in bigger and better screen, hd and now there is no way to go back to small one or change to Note 2 when come out.
Most ppl here including me were excited to get it but lil scared of size initially. But I can 100% assure you once you use it, its very comfortable easy light weight HD screen and design, and you won't regret even a sec of it.
You will wonder yourself how did you managed yourself on those small screens b4.

Hey,
I've come from the s2 international... And there have been trade offs...
The s2 was a great phone for me. It ran well... Really really well.
Moving to the note, the screen is definitely awesome, hands down, but what I have noticed is the way things render on the screen, mainly in websites, isn't always that smooth, and can be choppy, even with the phone overclocked and custom ROM.
Now I'm not sure if it I'd just my phone, or if its the way the north American chip sets version runs, but it does seem a little different for me, but nothing terrible. Its really hardly notable.
I wouldn't go back to the s2, just cause I love this screen. But I would love to have an international version to try to see if the difference is not just in my head.
I Know someone here is going to call me a moron by some rights, but that's my experience with the note.

You are not moron lol
You are saying what you feel
And yes that's truth Note is very laggy comparing international SGS2, as I used same.
But this is just for temporary till ICS comes out.
Few for now available Custom Roms and third party launchers , dolphin and other browsers on stock still helps and makes Note runs smoother.
I will say that Note offers everything of SGS2 and galaxy nexus in bigger hd screen.

First, Hi
I was amazed by a lot of new features of the Galaxy S 3 presented half an hour ago in London. And I was wondering if we would get some software from S 3 such as AllShare, S Voice and the new Touchwizz UI.
Do you even know if it could be possible to have a SIII based rom for our device?
Thank You very much

Thanks for the post, didn't know it was being revealed today.
Almost certain the S2 will get all the updates from Samsung or else guys on the forums
will have a new objective hehe.
The slogan for the S3 is 'Designed for humans'.....anyone else find this strange
The next galaxy s3 is a monster of IT!!!
I'll just grab the framework, APKs and source code and see if I can port them over for you.

What i would've wanted is the smart stay functionality. Backlight stays on while your looking at the phone.
its got LED notification which the S2 should have had....

heres some info about it, its not worth the buy for me, bigger, heavier, the screen is better and the larger battery but i dont think i have the pocket for it.

This thread will probably be relevant after May 29th.
Until then, what's the point?
Don't forget we already have the pink spot feature. No reason to port that.

I mean I really like the galaxy player but I just got my awesome new phone the LG spectrum and i don't really need the galaxy player anymore
Well I got a kick-ass RAZR MAXX back in February and I still kept my 4.0 because the sound quality is so much better then the RAZR, I say load up the same music in the same apps and see which sounds better, if the 5.0 sounds better then the LG then keep it. Something to consider is using your phone as a music player will mean it will need to be charged more often.
I have a Galaxy Note, but keep my 5.0 as PMP. This way the battery of the GNote dosn't runs fast and I can keep listening music for a longer time in the 5.0. The only problem is a pocket to fit both devices.
i have 4 inch htc in another pocket but always using sgp 5.0 for music,videos,internet,games..i dont want to think will my battey die on phone when i need it.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Why not? Considering the hardware inside of it, you would be lucky to sell it for maybe 3/4 of the value you bought it at. You can always repurpose it into a clock, server (there's an app for that! literally), PMP (although I find that a little wasteful),gaming console, test machine (if you want to dev), security camera, "kid phone", car radio/music player, the possibilities are endless (you can tell I have a few discarded family electronics laying around while I try and find something useful to do with them ). Just keep it, you never know when, you might find a use for it. Heck, maybe you can even donate it to a dev so they can develop for the 5.0!

I agree. If you really don't want it then giving it to a dev team is the best thing to do unless you want to sell it
Sent by my Robot Butler
If you like developing you should stick with the galaxy player. Tgis forum seems to be pretty dang successful and active compared to a ton of other forums. Plus the bootloader is unlocked so that already makes things much easier. In short, if you like developing and testing then keep it. If you think you might not need it due to experience or the spectrum having a good forum, then sell it

So I'm curious. What about your Note 2 keeps your interest in it?
Size, software, hardware (including S-pen), choice of ROMs, etc..
For me its size. I love the size of the phone and the display alone enough for me to love it without considering anything else. But, I will of course.
This is strictly for curiosity and conversation. That's it.

I'd have to say it's also the size. I see every other phone my friends and family use and it always makes me laugh and til this day everyone always compliments it or always say something funny about its size.

It's how awesome porn looks on the screen.
The fact that my contract isn't up with Verizon and I don't have enough money to buy a new phone outright.
Honestly, I'm done with giant phones these days. The moto x will be my next phone when I more to t-mobile.
For me it's the size of the screen, the crisp display, and the performance.
I use my Note 2 more than I use my laptop.
Some friends and family members make fun of its size, but when I'm with them and they want to do something on the internet, they start on their phone then say "let me see your phone".
I don't understand how they can say they love the size of their phone then want to see mine to view the internet.
For the same reason my wife stays with me...
Seriously tho, this device has a great screen, battery life, and performance...Sure the S4 has better hardware specs, but at this point in time better hardware offers diminishing returns at best. The Note 3 will have to be a major imorovement before I consider upgrading or else I may hold off until the Note 4...thats right I said it.
The size is definitely the main attraction, but I also love the S-Pen and the battery life. I switched from the S3 to the Note 2, and now whenever I try to use the S3, it feels so damn tiny in comparison.
For me, it's because most of my friends with S3/S4's don't even know about the Note 2, so when they ask me what kind of phone I have I say the S4. Then I act really surprised when my phone is bigger than theirs and I tell them they must have gotten the mini.

ROFL....too funny!!
For me it's the screen size and the boat load of ROM choices to give me a different phone weekly, or daily if I choose.
I like the size but I wish it was the size of the note. I think I like it because its got the most functionality of any phone I've ever seen.
There's nothing you can't do with this thing.
I like to keep a smart dock plugged into my entertainment center. Then setting across the room I'll control it with my ps3 controller.
calling this a phone is kinda like calling your home computer an email checker. literally these are little computers that also text and make phone calls. I have hade a few phones I've been missing with phones since the first razor cam out. I've just never seen anything this versatile before.
Size & quality of the display is nice for my aging eyes and fat fingers.
Battery capacity...all day easily.
Ability to take an SD card for additional memory.
Android customizability (sp?)
All these make this phone more attractive to me than most of the current crop of similar size.

Most likely people who shouldn't have an S4 in the first place then.
I have an S4, and my mom has the Note 2, but i frequently do 1 handed typing, and on the note its just a litle bit big for 1 hand to accurately type. I know the Note has the 1 handed option, but i'm not a big fan of that layout, and the 5 inch display on the S4 is perfect for me. I also like the colours and crispness more than on the note 2, and obviously the stronger hardware. I find even when i was doing work on my moms phone, i never really found any practical uses for the S-Pen that i would even consider it useful for me. It's all just personal preference though, but i laugh that i used to think the iPhone 4 was the perfect phone back in the day.
Its a very nice device though, and its nice to have the slightly larger screen for videos and games, but for me 5 inches is the sweet spot for the ultimate balance between functionality and ease of use.

I think the S4 is definitely the best size, but first thing I look at when getting a phone is the development for it, because we passed the point where hardware can make a difference in the performance of this relatively light OS (Android compared to Windows or Mac), so really the most powerful phone is now the one with the most capable software available for it. I wish my phone was the S4 size, but I don't think I can even use a ROM that doesn't haven't floating multiwindows at this point. I run every app in a window now.

I'm pretty sure the floating multiwindow features will eventually come to the S4, that is Multitasking to the max, but there are still some alternatives and you can get a close to similar experience on the S4. And things like Nottach etc, bring the other functionalities such as the horizontal split messenger/contacts and all the other goodies that stock S4 users miss out on.

My wife has the S4 and it does have alot of features and extra sensors etc... that are cool
but with my note 2 i dont need a charger at work or in the car anymore. I Sometimes i have to charge it when i go to sleep or every other day depending on how heavy i use it..
S4 pockets alot nicer but I dont wear girl jeans "cough" skinny jeans so the note 2 fits perfectly..
I dont use the pen as heavily as i thought i was going to but the times i have needed it, it has save me a headache and time which saves me money ..
playing games on it watching videos is alot better and easier on the eyes
Also im not worried about if i have to many things open at the same time it will slow down the phone..
Mult window is a big HELP as well.
Hey All,
I will be receiving my free Sony SW 2 in a few days, which was on backorder from when I bought my Xperia Z Ultra which I've since sold to move over to the Note 3. My question is which do you guys think is the better accessory to the Note 3 - the Galaxy Gear or Sony SW 2 and why? I personally am thinking of selling the SW 2 to purchase the Gear, but before I do, i'd like to know the pros and cons.
Thanks - and sorry if this has been posted prior. I searched and did not see much on this.
Cheers
The gear hasn't been brought to its full potential. I'd wait for the Google watch or the qualcomm smart watch

very good question !
I am looking for answer myself : )
I v got curently SW2 ,
smartwatch 2
pros:
better looking as galaxy gear
much better battery life (SW2 live for about really 3-4days!)
when you recive email you see what and who wrote to you (on G gear you only see notification and need to get phone and check)
microUSB charger (on gera you have to back to home and use special charger)
much quicker MENU on SW2 than galaxy gear
all the time you see what time is it right now (dimmer screen is on)
galaxy gear compare to SW2
pros:
better display
you can answer the phone and speak
BT4.0 on board better coverage than BT3.0
video camera
THATS ALL
probably I will try galaxy gear but I think it is no good enough than SW2 !

Received my Sony SW 2 yesterday. Haven't unboxed it but from what I can see it looks like a very nice watch. Reading the Galaxy Gear threads, it seems like there are a ton of issues with the GG, so I may hold on to my new SW 2 for a while longer and see what developes!
Thanks to all who've inputted their opinions!!
I own galaxy gear....special charger means a little box with micro usb connector. The size is.a little bit more than a zippo.lighter. The menu is a lot faster.in.the.real product and the platform for gear is getting a lot of dev attention. We have.Root. And we can.install any app from Google play. And I am sure that Samsung will.bring updates to the firmware soon. As for.mail...if you use your Samsung email.acount for Gmail you can see the.content.of. Your mail, for example. There is an app.on the Samsung store for Facebook which works great. It's a well start and.will be.better. With future software updates. P.S. 1.You can really use the.gear as a handsfree, I use that while driving and.my hand.is.on.the.weel. 2. I miss IP67. 3. Battery last at least 24 h with heavy usage and the.charging time is minimum, aprox 1 hour.

cons:
looks much worse on wrist than SW2
I tought coverage signal will be much betterthat SW2 (BT3.0) but I think is a little worse than SW2 - serious !
SW2 has capacative under screen button wich is a lot qiucker to navigate
ooh I forgot .. much more SW2 comfortyble to wear on it , gear is not to flexible on wrist as SW2 wich fit perfect
I dont see by now much more better feeling using galaxy gear as :
better screen AMOLED and density

You get a notification for gmail but it tells you to look at your phone. It doesn't show you the content of the gmail itself. If you use the stock email client and just use that you get to read the content.
Scribbled From My Note 3
I have the GG and I love it. Depending on what you need of course.
Here are some good things that I like
-I love checking my notification when I am in class. I don't care about emails. I get quite a lot text message and checking from watch is really useful to me.
-I also use it as headset when I don't have my bluetooth headset. Just a quick call/answer and found it to be quite good. Not for long conversation though.
-Battery life is more than decent. I can use a lot and still have about 30-40% left at the end of the night. I have no doubt it can get 24 hours battery.
-Pedometer is not so good. I don't use it since it's not accurate.
-Camera is not bad for quick pics. I take some pics of lecture, signs and it works great.
-Music control is awesome. Just wish my note 3 speaker is louder.
-Ability to install regular app through ADB is genius. I can actually install some useful app such as calculator.
Now bad things and wish they will improve
-More apps
-Water proof/Sweat Proof
-Longer battery life is always a welcome
-Notifications from all apps that I use(I don't like using every apps from samsung just to get notifications) This is a huge huge drawback IMO.
Those are my use of GG and I love it for my needs. Your mileage may vary. I hope the god of all devs from XDA find a way to hack the GG and make all the notifications pushed to GG of what user specify. This will make GG a truely fantastic device.
