[Q] help removing XXLQ5 please :( - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I've rooted my phone with odin and have checkrom revo hd v7 but i need to remove it, I can no longer install anything from the kitchen or another rom, I want to re-root with a version of c-f-root but i dont know what version to use
please would somebody kindly give me a link to remove my version of checkrom and tell me what version of c-f-root I should be useing?
I have paid for the jkay deluxe setting app but i am unable to install the framework or even find a compatible version, I'm pretty sure my CWM is playing up aswell as im unable to do anything with it.
I dont care if i have to lose all my data and start again on whatever kernal/baseband is needed to start again and be able to use the kitchpro app.
Thanks in advance guys, I really hope 1 of you will help
(my baseband and kernel are xxlq5, im using odin on a laptop and i have no external sd card)

Checkrom v7 is based on 4.04. That is why JKay will not install.
Choose another ROM and install it.
If you desire JKay, select any 4.03 rom.

The question is if you would like to remove old and flash the new one? For example compatible with JKay Deluxe? If yes, the latest recommended by DEV version of ICS for JKay framework is XWLPI ICS 4.0.3. So I recommend then to download XWLPI rom (eg DBT), then flash TAR version via odin, then flash CF-root kernel via odin as well then you can flash either JKay framework for odexed roms or if you prefer deodexed customs roms flash Neatrom XWLPI from CWM recovery and then JKay framework (deodexed verison).
Edit: XWLPI is recommended by JKay because he made some latest bug fixes to his framework

slow down it takes tym to gt a reply..
anyhow i m here
1) All custom roms are rooted so u will not loose ur root access..
2)All rom developers have listed the samsung apps deleted by them, and they usually give it as an addon pack if some people want.
See it what apps they have removed , if the app u want is deleted good for u or u have to deleted it manually as u have done in the past..
Alternatively u can delete it from the rom before flashing too... if u are experienced.
3)This is a kernel related issue try changing/flashing a new kernel the problem should get solved..
i want to flash the litening rom, what is the newest version available?
my kernel is KF4 but most of the roms i found are for other kernel versions, how do i solve this?
The latest version of litening ROM is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
but can i suggest Cognition as i have used both and i do prefer cognition:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124396
Your kernel doesnt matter - each ROM usually includes their own kernel and when you flash the new rom the kernel from that ROM will also be applied to your phone at the same time
Is cyanogenmod for gs2 released?
And whar is the difference btwn different ketnrls? say ke7 is better or kf4 is better?

[Q] Difference between Lite and full version of ROMs

I was looking at VillainRom and it has the Lite versions and full version. Lite is around 120ish mb smaller than full version.
Apologies if it has been covered before but by using "lite difference rom" as keywords in search wasn't much of help.
thanks.
"lite" roms will normally have extra's removed to make it as er, lightweight as possible.
In the case of VR the "lite" rom has pretty much all the samsung stuff removed, and a theme added, I think.
You can make your own "lite" rom by opening (not extracting) the VR zip in winrar, winzip, 7zp, etc and deleting apks you dont want.
If you dont extract it but remove items from the zip as is you wont even need to resign
Oh nice, thanks.
I was frustrated I installed the VR2.0 lite version instead of 2.3.0 version ( i downloaded from the wrong link)
So just wondering because I came from Cognition v1.15 rom which had ninp kernel and CWM, I installed VR 2.0 lite via CWM but looks like I lost super user
On top of that I can't find CWM app in app list. I'm guessing lite version didn't come with that.
So question is if I want to flash CF-root kernel as recommended by dev villainrom, what do I need to do now:
1. boot into CWM and install VR2.3.0
2. flash cf-root via odin
Is that correct?

yes, and then you can update the kernel to ninpo from the cwm app if you want and you will maintain root
There seems to be two lite versions out there,
1. Villainrom 2.3 Lite
2. VillainRom 2.3.0 Official Lite
Could someone please give me a link to the official lite version?
thanks
Or could I be wrong? There is only 1 lite version?

Thanks, just when I was thinking I am indeed a retard, should give up on life and go jump off a cliff.
I read that faq but like I said my question was probably a stupid one but couldn't find answer to it.
So I went on to another rom - Leomar one, its a litter easier to work around with. Thanks anyways.

[Q] please please understand and help..

I have rooted my phone with odin and installe the kitchen pro app, but whe i try to install checkrom 6hd or any rom it fails at verification i successfully did all this a few months ago on a sgs2 before it was stolen, i now i seem to be hitting problem after problem...........
if you want to refer me to ''in in this thread'' please post the link because im struggling to find help, ive looked all over and navigating this site is far from easy.
I get the yellow triangle so i guessi rooted properly, ive tried 2 roms, neither will install :9 please help me............ delete this thread after if need be
again, please help
which kernel are you using.. download a custom kernel..like siya or neak.. and make sure its the correct version .. dat is if you are using GB rom then download a GB kernel. the try flashing the rom from recovery
1) Kitchen pro will work only after installing Checkrom,
2) flash another (CWM+Rooting) kerenel from ODIN like siyah,
link for GB Shiyah Kernel : http://gokhanmoral.desean.net/siyahkernel/v2.6/Siyah-v2.6.14.tar (make sure you are on GB version now, otherwise you have to select ICS siyah kernel)
and try to install Checkrom from CWM
I've done all that, I keep getting E:verification failed.... any help please?

1. Not sure if its been updated... you could ask or check in the respective thread.
2. Official Nightlies just dropped for select devices.. check dev section.
3. Yes
4 Neither.. CM9 based on ICS, CM10 based on JB.. Both are awesome and JB is the newest shiz so... (and actually CM9 may have more features right now)
5. 99% of the time no. Unless you flash a ROM w/ Odin that does not have root or CWM. But- most, if not all, the custom ROMs you find here will have root and CWM. Just look at the ROM features before flashing!

Answer for 1. is YES it's compatible with CM10. Just look at the thread title of siyah kernel.
The rest bit is already answered by Coreym

1. Yes siyah supports cm10. Says so in the title. Always read the change logs for important info
2. It's in beta sort of. They're releasing previews that are quite usable. I'm using it atm. Only annoying bug is the memory leak that can easily be solved by rebooting the phone. 3. Restore only app apks, not phone settings. Restore app data at your own risk.
4. Depends on if you're looking for stability. CM9 is stable but I like JB and I'm going to be sticking with CM10
5. No it doesn't. Flashing a stock rom with stock kernel will unroot it. Custom roms will not

Jelly bean has not yet been released by Samsung .
There are a number of leaked beta test roms of JB in the forum but repeat beta leaked test roms expect problems .

Go to the Original Development section and get CM9 from there. Its good for you to navigate around the site and get comfortable where stuff is. In regards to the bootani, in my experience you change this by modifying /system/media/bootanimation.zip. You can try swapping the new bootanimation.zip with the old bootani.zip and see if that works. But I've never flashed a .zip to change the bootani.. but to be fair its been a long time since I've had any desire to change the bootanimation

Lol.. sorry. Like I said you need to get comfortable with this site and not just ask for links.. if you can't find em sure, but you need to try. You can do it two ways- on your PC: at the XDA home page you'll see 2 search boxes near the top and to the right. The box that says "find your device" ..type your phone in there and choose it when the option comes up. Then scroll down.. bam- OG Dev Forum! Or download the XDA app and find your device that way-
I hope you find it but I'm confident you will

[Q] Looking for GT-I9100_XEN_I9100CEKI2_I9100XENKH1_I9100XXKI1

Hello,
has someone have the old stock rom GT-I9100_XEN_I9100CEKI2_I9100XENKH1_I9100XXKI1.rar available and want to share this with me ?
It is the version for the Netherlands.
I'm currently on stock 4.0.4 (no root) but I'm not happy with it and want to go back to GB.
I have searched the net but it seems that the stock Roms for GS2 are not available anymore, they seem to be removed.
Please share this file with me !
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Oh and if possible also both kernels stock and rooted ?
Kernel_I9100CEKI2.tar and CF-Root-SGS2_CE_XEN_KI2-v4.2-CWM4.tar

Just use Google search next time!
1. Rom
2. Original kernel
3. CF-root
BTW, see the sentence beneath (in my signature).
Also be sure that you do not brick your phone since you're on Android version 4.0.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756242
Thanx ! I did use google but the sites I got back reported only that the file had been removed.
Thank you for the link.
Another question, I am not going to wipe anything as the phone isn't rooted and has no CWM recovery on it. Will it still be dangerous to flash this old rom back using Odin ?
One of the reasons I want to go back is because of the bug which could brick the phone.
Thanx for the heads up
