I just got the dock and CAN NOT STAND the tap to click. The first thing I do when using a laptop is turn that off and I dont happen to see an option on the TF, does anyone know if this can be done? Thanks
Ive read you can only turn off the touchpad completely, supposedly from settings, but I can't find it: confused:

haha, thx, never use any of those hotkeys
Nice thing about the option to turn it off, means that you can use a wireless mouse w/ the keyboard dock & it will recognize it as an input device. Right now I'm using the Logitech Anywhere MX Mouse instead of the touch pad.

Is there a way to disable the hardware buttons (home, search, back, menu) on the gtab? I find myself hitting them when I don't want to.

Button remapper app.
In fact, here it is.
Thanks for the link, goodintentions. It installed and opens up great.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to figure out how to use this app to actually disable the hardware buttons on the Gtab. I'm running Vegan b5.1 (with supplement) and Clymsyn's kernel v6.
I've tried setting their state to 'none' and that didn't work... also tried searching the 'action' dropdown for a 'disable' or 'none' entry, but couldn't find one.
Any guidance would be appreciated, thanks.
You dont need to change the states, only the actions. Set it to Focus for all the home/search/back/menu you see. If you mess something up, it should allow you to restore the keys after you reboot

Button remapper works great when pared with button Savior. It gives you a placable tab that when touched brings up back, home, menu and search buttons. Really handy.
Oh and I remapped my gtabs buttons to be a dpad. It really helps when selecting links online.
Disable hardware buttons
Hi all, I downloaded the app, installed and set buttons to focus.
No joy, none at all.
Using Honeycomb, could this be the issue?
Or, does anyone know any other solution?

A rather strange question: What action does the right mouse button do in Android? I can't think of any. Or is it the same as long press? Then again, what would long-press of left mouse button do?

There isn't an action of the right button in Android.. Also long press left and right.
Just an action when you short press the left one ..

Thanks for the answers! Is there a way to customize the non-assigned mouse buttons? Would be cool if we could fill them with personalized options! Besides left button, I have 8 additional buttons + scrolling wheel on my mouse, so a lot of options to assign
Do you think Android will even notice additional buttons except the left one?

That's a wonderful Idea!!
Could you try the right button in some VNC app like Pocket Cloud if it's not too much work (configuring them can be pain)?
Under setting/asus customized settings, you can select funcinons for both the right, and "middle" buttons on the docks toucpad. My dock only seems to have a left and right bottton accomadating the touchpad. There is no middle. Am i missing something? I love having the right button set as back, and if I had a middle button I would set it to menu. Surely, I'm missing somthing obvious right? Thanks....
I don't have my Prime at work here but I think that's if you attach a mouse. Mine has no middle click on the touchpad.

That makes sense. Thank you.
Is there a setting, or an app that will automatically disable the dock's touchpad while typing? My thumbs hit it while I'm typing, and it sends the cursor (and the typed text) all over the place. Every laptop I've ever owned has automatically disabled the touchpad while the keyboard was in use to prevent this type of issue. I'm hoping there's a way to configure the prime to do the same.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium HD app
Yep there is a key on the keyboard dock right above the #3 that will disable it.
Thanks, but I was hoping for something that automatically disabled it while the keyboard was in use (and then re-enabled it a second or so after you stopped typing). The button works for now, but I hope that there is an automatic solution soon...

As far as I know there is no setting for that.
The touch pad could use a couple of software settings that would make it much more usable, for instance a setting to disable tap to click would be amazing.
The second or so youd have to wait for the touchpad to reactivate surely is better spent actually pressing the trackpad enable/disable button??
My trackpad is permanently disabled as i find it much easier to navigate on screen rather than use the trackpad.

Same here.
Or you could do what I do and invest in a wireless USB mouse. I have it plugged in all the time because the receiver is so darn small it doesn't matter to me .

I just leave the touchpad off all the time. Don't need it since I can just touch the screen.

I see your logic, however the touchpad is a lot more accurate if you're trying to select a portion of text, or put the cursor in a specific spot. I use the TP for taking notes in meetings a lot, and the touchpad really helps there.
Is there a way to keep the keyboard from popping up (temporarily)? So I want to keep the keyboard from showing on a certain website.
Here's the deal: on a website I like to visit there is a small animation and a place to type in your response. The keyboard pops up and covers the animation. I actually don't care about typing my response - I just want to see the animation. Thanks

Not exactly the answer you are looking for ... but you can close the keyboard by pressing the back key once.

One way you could do it is to download Smart Keyboard Pro and go to Settings --> Advanced Settings --> Hide in Portrait.

TouchPal keyboard has that. When it pops up, there's an arrow pointing down on the right side and it'll disappear. swiftkey has that feature too .

The thing is that the keyboard doesn't disappear quick enough before the animation starts and it is a quick animation so I miss the beginning. In case you are wondering what the heck I am doing... I am learning ASL fingerspelling. A hand spells letters of a word at different speeds for practice so if I miss the first letter, I miss the word.
Thanks for all your help everyone!

My suggestion will do it instantly. I know there's a free trial version of Smart Keyboard on the Play Store...try that one and see if it has that feature.
