I have the last vanilla root box version installed on my galaxy s2. It's a really good ROM, it hasn't any issue, the only one I have is really weird, because even if the GPS runs with other applications that use it, I notice that maps and navigator that are the default applications to find my own position, don't work. I tried GPS fix, I installed and uninstalled maps via link2sd but all was useless. So now I have an application, copilot that barely works as it is supposed to do and I just want maps to run again as in the original firmware. I have gapps obviously already installed. Thanks for the help.

After getting the last update on both applications (autoself background for market seems to disable FastWeb installations, and last Appbrain update comes with FastWeb integrated) installing trough the web doesn´t work anymore as always. Also doesn´t work when pressing "perform installs" from the phone application. I´ve tried enabling and disabling FastWeb option and uninstalling market updates data, but still is not working.
Anyone have a clue ???
I think
I saw this problem in another thread - I believe it's a google/appbrain issue and we just have to suffer. Appbrain answered inquiries recommending getting apps through syncing. Sad.
Yes, but also sincyng or other actions performed from the phone (like direct install) are not working. Last version, updated today claims that you must uninstall any market updates present on your phone in order to work as before, but that seems useless to me, as any time you open the market, the update comes again on the background. I liked the app for the possibility of install apps not available on "my" market ( put region/operator or some other strange filters here) but fully working on my phone when installed from AppBrain.
So, to my taste, right now, AppBrain is useless and going to just R.I.P.
Yes, I gave up on it for now - If I understand it correctly, it might be working on some systems and the developers were working on a workaround. Yes, the sync feature isn't fun as it just takes you to the market to install.
If you can get the apk install files, drop them to dropbox.
Good luck.
Since I rooted my phone, some of Google apps specially maps has been foreclosing.
I'm pretty sure thats due to having root on my phone, is there anyway to fix this issue?
A Smartphone without google maps is not a SMARTPHONE!! Please help.
Perhaps you installed the wrong GAPPS, e.g. the ICS one when you have a Gingerbread ROM.
Running on 7" Almost AOSP V. 2. Everything is excellent but I can't get Google Maps working. It's incredibly sluggish, on-map text is glitchy and it's essentially unusable.
Is there a known fix for this?

Google MAPS will not work on an Amazon operating system - I don't believe it will work on any of the thor-gapps roms. The API will not render properly, and is not licensed to work on Amazon o.s.'s. It will work on Capsjuste's AOSP 4.2.2-0 android ROM , which does not use Thor.
However, if you have access to the Amazon Appstore, you can try the 99-cent Tab for Google Maps app.

I don't have access to the amazon store. Any idea what the next best thing is on the Play Store?
I have Google maps working just fine in my 8.9" Fire running the stock OS with all the Google apps installed.
Obviously it doesn't work as well as the copy in my Note 3 without the onboard GPS, but it will find a location and map a route just fine.
To piggyback on this, does Zillow use the Google maps app? I downloaded Zillow from amazon before configuring gapps and it worked fine. I installed gapps then tried it and it was screwed up like Google maps.

Does maps.google.com work for you on the kindle? I don't have mine readily available to test, but since there's no GPS and you need a wireless connection to access maps anyway, wouldn't the website only be marginally less convenient than the app for this particular device?
Hello guys!
Quick roundup:
Asus Transformer TF300T
Android 5.1.1
KatKiss ROM 5.1.1 030
Katkernel 3.1.10
AppOps (tomtom has all permissions)
Xprivacy ( all tomtom actions are accepted)
Tomtom Europe 1.3 maps v920.5241
So GPSTest and other gps applications get a fix fast. When I start tomtom, the gps sign in the statusbar shows as full signal yet tomtom does not get the coordinates.
I only flashed the rom yesterday so it is brand new. Apart from the built in appops and Xprivacy, I do not see anything else that could obstruct tomtom from getting coordinates. Both apps are set to let anything trough to tomtom.
I installed an older version of tomtom before and then installed a newer version. Both did not get coordinates. Every other app that works with gps does.
Also I had tomtom installed on this tablet before I flashed KatKiss. It worked wonderfull.
I need fresh ideas! Tomorrow I need to drive for 6 hours so I really need it to work.
What do I not see ??? Ask me anything!
Thanks in advance guys!

If that is the case it maybe having issues with xposed installed. If you need something that important don't try and use alpha software.

I just completely uninstalled Xposed and its library. Still the same issue.
Any other Ideas?
Hey there,
if you are still a regular user of the good old GTab 10.1 - like my GF - you might have encountered this issue recently too.
Google has updated and does remotely update your Play Store Service to a version which is not supported anymore by this tablet, or the other way around, the app does not support our hardware anymore and the service keeps crashing and crashing, same with Chrome and Maps as far as I know.
Well I first thought something is wrong with the ROM or Gapps so I looked for a recent unofficial ROM and found the [ROM][Unofficial][AOSP] Android 7.1.1 Nougat and there was stated:
Incompatible apps:
The following apps no longer support the hardware in this tablet. They will not work on any ROM for this device. There is no hack to make them work.
Apps that do not support this tablet:
Chrome 50+
Google Translate
Gboard 6.0.79
Maps 9.45
Google Play services 10.2
Apps based on Unity 5 engine
Last known compatible versions:
Chrome 49.0
Gboard 6.0.69
Maps 9.44
Google Play services 10.0.84

Well I had a backup from 2015 on the GTab and restored it but immediately the service updated itself and it began to crash.
In the Above mentioned thread there was some1 writing
This worked for me (for disabling Google Play Services auto-update) :
- disconnect wifi
- disable auto-update apps in Google Play Store
- in Settings / Apps, GPS, 3-dots menu, Uninstall updates, so back to v10.0.84....
- in App info, Data usage, disable Unrestricted data usage
- reconnect wifi
Now GPS doesn't seem to auto-update anymore.
Best regards

Sadly this does not seem to work for me. I was thinking about Titanium backup to freeze the GPS but I am not sure if this will work.
Also flashed manually a GApps Version which had the older play store in it but also got overwritten immediately
So have you encountered this issue and how did you fix it?
Thanks
Did you make sure to turn off auto update apps in Google Play store? That combined with the other steps listed worked for me and my Galaxy Tab play services has NOT updated... And it works fine, though it still occasionally crashes, but not every ten secons.
Thank you for this information. I've been banging my head on the wall for a few days while searching the cause.
I'm facing exactly the same problem.
I don't have the "Disable unrestricted data usage" option in Google Play Services Data Usage.
There is only "Restrict app background data", but this one doesn't prevent GPS from update.
In the next day GPS updates automatically to version 10.2.* and crushes.
have you tried this ? : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/delete-disable-downgrade-prevent-update-t3091832
tl;dr create 2 folders at /data/app : com.google.android.gms-1.apk and com.google.android.gms-2.apk . Done that today, but still need to test on the long run.
I tried this and it worked - for a couple of days. Now some apps are complaining they are unlicensed
Well I was able to disable GPS completely but now, as stated above, apps are complaining and there are now no app updates availible and the complete store is disabled, not really what I was looking for. But I guess Google now really fu:cyclops::cyclops:ed us. So are we done with this tablet or what?

My p4wifi is working fine on the latest 7.1.1 ROM and the older GApps. Disabling automatic updates in the Play Store keeps regular apps from updating when we don't want them to.
Disabling the background data settings in Apps.... Google Play Services... Settings keeps GPS from updating itself.
(I'm not sure that I made the settings change in Developer Options or not.)
It might be worth reading through the posts in the 7.1.1 thread.
I can afford a new tablet, but cannot find anything this size that keeps the ROM current with Google releases.
(I also do not play games or need esoteric applications.)
Don't give up yet.
Is this a solution?
https://www.xda-developers.com/unshackle-your-device-from-the-google-play-store-with-apkupdater/
I also deleted cacche from Gps & blocked the internet connection wth Afwall.
Tried the solution of lebaronrouge in 5.1.1 rom topic.
Seems to work.
