How to tell if unlocked? - HTC EVO 3D

I did the wire trick, and now I can't read my locked status because I have the JB
Thing where my locked status should be.

If you did the wire trick and haven't done the htcdev unlock since then, your bootloader is locked but that won't matter since the JBear version allows the same fastboot commands as an unlocked stock bootloader.
The only way to see it is to flash a stock hboot.

new bootloader question

i know i have been around long enough to know this but for some reason i can't think of the answer. i have rooted many phones and am content with flashing roms and thats about it. i have the new 2.89 firmware with the stock ics rom from virus and can't figure out, if i am already s-off but my new bootloader is locked is there a reason to want to unlock the bootloader if i am already s-off? i never really paid attention if it was locked before.
S-off > locked, so you're good to go.

Any benefit to s-off AND unlocked?

Could be, but none that I know of.

flash Juopunutbear hboot from: http://unlimited.io/hboot-downloads/
The JB hboot is similar to an Unlocked bootloader, but supports more commands & doesn't need you to unlock the bootloader via HTC Dev.
Since you are S Off, you can flash hboots & don't ever need to unlock via HTC dev again.

Yes. The wire trick still works to get s-off.

Well even if you did root without htcdev unlock, it still voids your warranty regardless

IT IS NOT THE SAME!believe me!if you don't unlock via htcdec(with other method) you can revert back to locked s-on.if you unlock with htcdev you can only go to relocked s-on so they know you messed with your phone.unfortunately, for hboot 1.5 there is no other method.only for 1.4

Just downgrade your hboot using cd method, use 1.40+revolutionary, use powduh/commonsens/meanrom and custom kernel and you will find your phone flying high... And at last you still can get back to haboot 1.50 locked
This phone is imortall... Lolz

I don't know if the same is true for the GSM model, but doing the JuopunutBear (wire trick) method for S-OFF left the two CDMA Evo 3D's that I have with a ***LOCKED*** bootloader even though it was ***UNLOCKED*** previously, and those were both on hboot 1.5. The bootloaders are still ***LOCKED*** and I use custom hboots to be able to use the fastboot commands that a locked stock bootloader doesn't allow.

"Relocked" in bootloader?

Yesterday I Relocked and ran RUU to take the OTA. It used to say Locked before I originally unlocked to root and now it says Relocked in bootloader. Does this matter?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
No

So there is no 100% way to unlock and Relock and not tell because it now says Relocked.

if your s-off u can get rid of that.. mine says locked s-on.. but im really unlocked s-off.. that bootloader custimizer will fix that
It is correct what everyone is saying....once you unlock there is no physical/official way to lock it. It will always say relocked unless you do the mod to have it say locked. Its still relocked just doesn't "look" relocked....if that makes sense. Hope that clarifies it for you.

You have to relock your bootloader to be able to take the OTA I'm pretty sure

I think you just need to type "fastboot oem lock" without the quotes in a cmd window.
An RUU will take you back to complete stock.
I have never done it so not 100%
Question why have you not tried to go S-OFF? It would save you so many headaches.
I'm pretty sure you need the stock recovery to accept an OTA so RUU is probably the way to go
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I can confirm. RUU failed until I had the stock recovery and locked bootloader

Thanks fellas
adb tools w/stock recovery incase anyone needs it
I'm S-On, Unlocked, rooted, hboot 1.15 and have TWRP (don't recall which custom ROM I installed months ago but it is stock based). When I checked for the JB update I was notified it was there and was able to download it but I haven't tried installing yet. Will I be able to install it or will I need to re-lock, un-root or otherwise modify my phone before I can install stock JB?
Some people are having trouble recovering root after 2.03, might be better to wait a bit longer

[Q] S-On after Moonshine

I am wondering how one would go back S-On after achieving S-Off using the Moonshine method or if it is even possible. There is a thread about LazyPanda/DirtyRacun but I can't seem to find anything for Moonshine. I ask because I need to take my phone to sprint for repairs and don't want to have an unlocked bootloader.
Use this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2197909
This tool will put your phone back completely stock, locked bootloader and S-on.

Thanks! I saw this earlier but I wasn't 100% sure if it would work with Moonshine so I figured I'd be on the safe side and ask first.
