Don't forget that it depends on the carrier if they will allow it. But who knows verizon really doesn't like root users. I believe sprint is the only carrier that doesn't care what you do to your phone.

It says the will ACTIVATE with unlocked. Doesn't say they will give us an opportunity to unlock. Sneaky wording at least that's what I am taking from this until I see my x2 with unlocked BL or Verizon put a statement saying they will allow current users to unlock.

My phone, my rules. I am the customer and I call the shots.
Would be a shame if I misplaced my X2 and had to report it stolen... only to get another and have to sell it for a phone that supports features I am looking for.
Just saying.
Maybe with google on board now they will unlock it since they are doing away with the nexus as a dev phone, alteast that its what I heard.

Lets see if the unlock really happens, I doubt it though !!!

Well, it only said "soon" and that is not a specific date or time, "soon" is relative. "Soon" could mean next week or even next month.
Got it too
I just got the same text message on my DROID RAZR and I assume that now we just continue to play the waiting game until the update is actually pushed -_-

If this is serious, no IM client built in? Seems strange. I know when I had my Gnex it had an IM client. I assumed it was built into ICS.

I read somewhere on one of the tech forums that the J Butterfly supports Google Wallet. I don't know how accurate this is, if at all; but if this is true, couldn't this be tweaked to work on the DNA?

If it does, changing the build.prop to mimic it would work. We've had to do that with the Gnex once Google removed mysid support.
The odd thing is, it will install from the Play Store but it doesn't work once you fire up the app. You'd have to change the build.prop to make it work as stated above.
I hope someone drops a working apk for this soon. Coming from a gnex and as crazy as this sounds, I kind of feel weird paying with my actual debit card without it. I used it constantly...
Edit: someone makes a working apk for this, I would gladly make a donation for their efforts.
I've tried changing the build.prop but I didn't use the one from the j butterfly. I got a different msg after I changed the build.prop and the app still wouldn't work

To a similar supported device.
So for Toro (Verizon Gnex), we changed it from mysid to takju.
On the Verizon Samsung Siii (w/ touchwiz), they need to get some NFC/Secure element files off of the Sprint Siii. Then the hacked wallet worked. If the Siii is running AOSP, then the secure element is already enabled.
If the Butterfly has Google wallet working, then maybe some similar nfc/secure element files could be pulled to enable the secure element on our DNA's ....
Or perhaps because the N4 has a similar SOC someone could pull the nfc/secure element files from that ...

We will have to do that too so I guess we have to waiyt for a j butterfly system dump.
I know we will cause even after changing the build.prop and using hacked apk it still said something about secure element.

It just seems fishy doesn't it?
To me, you would think this, being a pretty big development, would break here on XDA.
While I am hoping its true, as I am holding off until something like this is released, it just seems a little to good to be true.
But go for it if you want!
Just follow a guide on here, it's pretty much dead simple to unlock your bootloader through HTC. I highly doubt this is legit but in the time it took you to make this post and wring your hands about it you could have unlocked the bootloader, rooted and installed a custom rom.
netstal trembley
im not saying its not legit but, like said a couple of posts above, if it was legit, i'd think it would be xda by now
My theory - If no one has commented anything at all and there's no one to vouch for it, don't become the martyr or the first victim.
I'm happy about the feed back from you guys. This is the reason I posted it here, because I knew someone would have a good insight about this topic.
I'm staying away
Thanks

Click the download button and it says right there that it won't work. Only supports android up 4.0.3, and no HTC devices although they hope to support them in the future. It's virus free according the VirusTotal, but I still wouldn't use it on a supported phone without confirmation from someone else that it won't ruin it.
Hi, I'm one of the people behind the development of One Click Root. I can assure you our software does not contain viruses or any other malicious code.
The poster above me is correct. We currently don't have support for HTC devices as we're still working on a few of the finer details of automating HTCDev.com bootloader unlocking. We do hope to add support for HTC devices in the near future, along with a number of the most popular new devices on the latest ICS and Jelly Bean OS versions.

You can travel abroad with your RAZR no problem; but, know that if you are running CM10.1 you must patch it before it will work on Intl GSM, if you search the CM10.1 thread toy will find a link to the patch. I would link it now but I'm on my phone. If you have any other CM10.1 questions please post them on the CM10.1 thread, way more people read that thread and the support over there is great.
