hi:
i use [ROM] UNOFFICIAL CM9 with working camera prev9
i know this h/b asked many times and i searched for an answer::
an app stopped working.. cleared cache from settings--no change..
reboot, cleared cache and delvik.. tried fix permissions also--no change..
uninstalled app / reinstalled app-- got error "Insufficient Storage Available"
looked for any ".com" references to the app--didnt see any
i have 219mb used and 1.3GB free internal storage ..
i also dont see setting to install to SD by default, just in case that would help..
i havent tried to install anything while on this latest prev9, i doubt thats the problem tho..
thanx for any help
You have to delete the .odex file related to that app usually in /system/app if not I'm pretty sure you can delete.odex files using Lucky Patcher

i uninstalled app, then looked for a related .odex file but found none

Are you using something like root explorer? It may be in /data/app but I'm pretty sure the file manager had to be root enabled. You remember how sometimes in Windows you uninstall a program but the shortcut and folder are still there? You have to manually go in and delete those files yourself? That's giving you that insufficient storage issue. If all else fails, full wipe out wipe of system will put you clean again.

k, i did what you sugg'd:: did find a related odex and deleted it..
reinstalled from google play .. gave me the"unfortunately...has stopped" error..the same as my original prob that started my insufficient space error..
i guess im beat..
i ll probly have to wipe out and reinstall ..
i thought for sure a restore from nandroid wouldve helped tho..
thanx..

After you delete the .odex, just to be certain the app is restored to the pre-odex state, in Lucky Patcher > Long press troublesome app > Remove ODEX with Changes! (restore application).
Then, go into system/settings/applications/all applications/Google Play Store and hit 'clear data'. Reboot into Recovery > Wipe dalvik & cache (a tad redundant, I know), reboot into system.
If this fails, after clearing caches, try re-flashing Gapps.

i did fresh install including prev9.. i now do nandroid backup of that clean, naked install -- nothing else installed..
i will do a nandroid restore of a previously working backup and try all you

I stumbled across an application that should rectify your issue:
Amaze Memory Clear
Give it a shot if you are still having that issue. Report back, too - I'm kinda curious, myself.
that extra step you took was really great of you.. i will try it..
EDIT::
i found an obscure workaround for my original prob.. install ol file manager.. dont have to change anything.. just have it installed..
it did fix the stopped working problem..
so i reverted to my nandroid prev9 backup , installed ol file manager on this backup and everything works as before..
i did installed your memory clear app and it found quite a bit of space after i cleared apps cache and recovery mode cache and delvik..
so altho i dont know if it wouldve fixed my original prob, i do know it frees up alot of space...
really , i would bet against it fixing that prob cuz i had alot of space .... i didnt have much installed..
thanx for the tip

Recently when I put APK's on my SD Card and try to install them I receive the 'Application not Installed' error. When this happens with market apps it's easy enough to unmount the SD and remount after the install. However if the APK is on the SD how can I do this?
Is there a fix for this? Also if it helps I'm running the Wildpuzzle ROM and the APK I'm trying to install at the moment is Angry Birds (getjar).

Yeah, the application installer shows up, I just receive the error message a few seconds of the scrolling grey progress-style/working bar.
Do you have a USB Cable? Try using "DroidExplorer", an awesome PC client that can directly install apps. Or, try using a File Browser like Root Explorer or Super Manager.
Do you, by chance, have an App2SD Patch? Because I have always found them buggy!
Try to "undo" everything you did up to before it stopped working. Also try formatting your cache partition and/or erasing dalvik cache. Did you do any flashing without making a NANDROID backup first?
Also try "SuperOneClick", there is an option to "Enable Non-Market Apps" for rooted phones.
Second-last resort? Factory reset. Last resort...? Backup all your apps/settings and reflash

Thanks for this. I'm trying Droidexplorer, explorers on the device wont install the apk as it returns the same error.
How long should the installation take. It's been running 15 mins so far, the internal storage has decreased a little but the installing window (on pc) is still up?
I am assuming you have a rooted phone with unrEVOked3 right? Would you happen to have some kind of App2SD patch installed....? Because I always found them unstable.... what firmware are you using? I am loyal to Sunaabh v1.1 (Froyo) Custom Firmware as it is well supported
Hmmm I've encountered that installing loop before. But only when trying to install an APK that wouldn't normally work, such as an older version of the Market or Flash 10.1. It just means it's waiting for ADB server to do something but ADB has obviously crashed. It should not take more than 30 seconds for an APK to install via DroidExplorer. Just unplug your phone and close DroidExplorer.
Does this happen with all APK's? How many have you tried?
Only thing I can think of is that you did something to damage your package.xml data and/or permissions are corrupted.
Did you try formatting your cache partition in Clockworkmod? Please try this, it will not destroy any data. But it will trigger a long reboot - it will appear frozen at the bootup splash screen but just let it go while it rebuilds the cache.
Also try "Clear Data" under Applications > Manage > Market.
Have you flashed anything in clockworkmod? If you can provide more details of exactly what you've done to your phone that might help, but I really doubt it.... I think the only option is to restore from a Nandroid Backup or Reflash Sorry... but these things do happen and we always learn the hard way lol....
You can use the official HTC Sync software to backup your phone numbers and SMS and stuff I believe, and if you want to backup your installed apps you can use Titanium Backup or many other Backup apps on the Market, Free or Paid.
Make into a zip file and flash via recovery

Thanks for everyones help, I now have it sorted!
I started an installation through Droid explorer and then cancelled it when the apk was on the phone.
Then I unmounted my SD
Then I used root explorer to browse to the apk on the phones internal memory
It installed with no worries and I remounted the SD!

before anyone jumps on my ass... i HAVE googled the **** out of this and spent 2 days looking for an answer. NOTHING i've found has worked.
i CANNOT install ANY updates via market. the ones i have tried, end up telling me "insufficient storage available" and then seem to disapear. facebook, maps, gmail, and a few others did this. one by one apps are leaving my phone. NO there is not a virus.
i've tried:
repairing permissions via TWRP
cleared cache/dalvik
deleted TONS of txt msgs
removed lots of apps
moved as many apps to SD as i could
deleted old nandroid backups
deleted old TIbackup backups
used leedriod to fix permissions
installed apps2sd and moved apps
im 5mins from doing a factory reset.

You didn't say if you went into 'applications', manage, play store, and then cleared data. I hope you tried that and then rebooted. Same thing has happened to me and this cleared it up.
"We're coming from a pure power source."
tried that as well.
I know you may want to here this but you may need to reflash the Rom and and do a full wipe and a super wipe and wipe dalvik ceche wipe ceche and format system and the list go's on basicly wipe everything and run a super wipe tool and then flash your Rom if that doesn't work then you may want to try another Rom

Here's a compendium of temporary working solutions i've tried:
unmount sdcard->install app->mount sd card only work for one download
using logcat to find specific file copy problem only work for that particular file, other download will still display this annoying error.
factory reset only helps for a while, and this annoying error came again.
Repartion/reformat sdcard also provide temporary solution, but soon the error came again.

Had the same problem with my Evo 3D. The problem is that you have to have at least 10% free internal storage in order to install anything. So move some big App to SD card to solve this.
No solutions up until now yet, but the real culprit is the cache created by google playstore in the cache partition when downloading apps.
I found a workaround to use until google sort out this bug. I backed up all of my apps, do a factory reset, and restore the app. In order to prevent google playstore to build up it's cache when downloading new apps, i use an apk leecher, transfer the apk to sdcard, and install from sdcard. Sometimes i have to use market fixer to link some installed apps to playstore. i preserved the cache for updates only.
not very pretty and i don't like this, but at least it worked.
Just verifying...You sound like you know what you are doing, but just in case...
Maybe you really are out of space... when you did apps2sd/Link2SD, did you actually partition the SD card with two partitions? Use that 32GB CL10 and make a 4gb partition (use the recovery formatter, since most align the partitions, don't use winblows/linux), then use Link2SD (my preference, since it's UI manageable, plus apps2sd didn't work for my rom anyhow) and click "Link" (not move to SD). Link moves the .apk, cache, and user data (if I recall correctly) to the "4GB" partition, but move-to-SD just moves user data to the larger USB mountable FAT partition, so this isn't going to move everything, plus it's not as flexible when mounting via USB. Good luck!
Thank you very much for reminding me. I did make 3 partitions which includes 2gb of sd-ext, 1 gb of linux swap, and the rest is fat32. on the sd-ext, i've symlinked data, cache, google play cache, system/app, and user/app partitions. there was still plenty of space left on it (more than 800mb at that time).
For instance, I delete most of the notification and ringtones that come with a mod. In fact, I've deleted all of them. I've achieved this using Root Explorer with RW enabled.
But when I go into Settings > Sound > Ringtone\Notification, some names show up. I've tried deleting cache, etc. But no matter how many times I do this the names show up; even after restarting my phone.
2 vanished somehow, but I still have 1 left. Specifically it's called "Teleport". There's no real file and no sound to play from. So when I highlight it, it doesn't play, because I've deleted it. I just want the name gone. The nonexistent files don't show up in any music list or even in file manager such as Root Explorer.
It's been like this for a while. How can I fix this? Any apps, tricks or something?

Wouldn't that usually mess with the MD5 sum and make it corrupt? I could do that, but I'd have to install the rom again over a factory reset.

So don't unzip, use winrar and just delete the files
I suppose.
I think I'm going to update to the latest CM7 rom, as mine is months old. So I'll just do that for the new rom.
Just a few quick thoughts...Have u tried clearing dalvik cache in recovery? Also if u are flashing the same/similar ROM u may not need to do factory reset / wipe data. Though u may need to clear data for Media Storage (and possibly wipe dalvik) before flashing so it has to recreate it after flashing the new ROM.
Odd little problem u have there. Could be worth while to just flash a clean rom and try deleting the files to see if it still happens. Also, u could always delete them from rom before flashing and then try to only restore data from a backup. Kinda doubt that would work but if all else fails.....

Yes, sir (sir?). I have done that as well. No luck.
I deleted the ringtones/notifications in the latest CM7 RC2 released on May 9th before flashing on a full wipe and it worked, but unfortunately the rom kept freezing and restarting so I went back to my nandroid backup. No matter how many wipes and cleans I do on this, plus fixing persmissions etc, nothing works. It's no big deal, really. It just bothers me because I've got OCD and I refuse to believe it's there, therefore not allowing me to pick what I really want (maybe I'm stupid about it that way).
I'm just going to wait until there's a stable release and just start over from there by getting rid of the ringtone/notifications in the rar.
Thanks!
When trying to update Titanium Backup through Play Store it fails telling me that theres no more space left. However 9 GB of internal and 3 GB of external SD card are still free. Other applications (even bigger ones) install fine. I cleared Dalvik cache but without success.
What causes this error and how to solve it?
Is your device GS3? 9GB of internal?
Is it important how did i send this?
Try to remove current TB & then install the newer version

i had this problem yesterday when updated my firmware, most of my apps had to be reinstall. there is one app, UCCW, i had to reinstall through google play and it keeps telling me i have insufficient memory.
To fix this i had to uninstall, use root explorer find the folder of the app and deleted it if it still there and reinstall. viola it works.

I think i have posted a fix a lot of times for the same problem..see if this works for you.. open root explorer..it works only if you are rooted.. open data.. then open apps.. then try to find if there is any odex file related to titanium backup. It mite be named titanium keramidas.odex or something like that.. delete it.. then install titanium again..
Using Root Explorer, go to /data/app and delete the file named Titanium.odex
Now everything should work normally..

Hi all.
I was uninstalling unnecessary applications from my phone yesterday using root file delete and it seems I deleted something wrong so now my TwLauncher keeps crashing.
I downloaded another Launcher (which is not a very nice interface) temporarly because I was told that clearing cache from TwLauncher in settings would fix the problem but it did not. TwLauncher still crashing.
I re-installed TwLauncher from a file I found in another posts again it crashed, and tried installing TwLauncher 4.5, after istallation it also keeps crashing!!!
Please help I need TwLauncher to be good again and not crash coz other Launchers suck.
Factory reset. If that doesn't work, re-flash the rom you're currently running.

Best post I've seen here this week. Wise words indeed. These phones are essentially mini PC's nowadays, fail to backup regularly at your peril (people who don't backup regularly always seem to be the people who really need them/could have done with one).
Is there any way of doing that without installing a ROM again or doing factory reset???
Even when I install a new TwLauncher 4.5 it still crashes..
any tips?
