[Q] Galaxy SII Original Android Unlocked (Noob Question) - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey bros - you guys have helped me a lot, and this will be my final galaxy S2 question as I am selling my phone (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281021279081?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649). It's currently running CM9 RC, and i want to flash it back to a stock 4.0.4 ROM and Radio. So does anyone know where I can find a stock ROM and radio and does anyone know what an Unlocked UK International i9100 would be running?
Also, if i flash a stock rom and radio, will the next owner be able to update his phone via KIES? Can anyone help me restore this phone back to normal?
Thanks guys - see you guys on the nexus 4 forum soon!
*Just realised that this should be in Q/A. Now do I move it?*

Question, wouldn't a factory reset put everything back to what came out of the box?

Unfortunately not, a factory reset just wipes the /data partition, which would remove all my data but still leave the ROM. What I *think* I have to do is to flash stock, and then flash the stock radio, and pray that the new owner of the phone can flash the official Jelly Bean thru KIES when it comes out.... can you shed some light on this?

[Q] What ICS ROM should I flash on this Galaxy S II?

My Galaxy S II right now is running the Gingerbread 2.3.5 XXKI3 build. What files/firmware do I need to flash ICS on it without any problems? What is the best version of ICS for the GSII right now (Official by the way.)? It is not rooted by the way.
I had problems originally on flashing ICS because it was stuck on the "factoryfs.img" or something like that on Odin.
And can someone give me instructions where to put these files on Odin.

Be absolute sure that you got i9100 not the i9100G.
Download the firmware again flash using Odin. Try any of the newer ics roms

About the installation, you have everything you need in the HyDrOG3N thread!
Good luck .
Downloaded the XXLPQ version. My S2 is the i9100 btw. I checked everything. The box. At the bottom of the battery. All refer i9100.
I'll try Hydrogen when this works well.

better you read more before flashing
guides and FAQs
no offence to post above but please first flash stock ics using odin and wip using *2767*3855#
To my knowledge i'm pretty sure you can use the stock ICS of any release of i9100, on any other phone, unless the release is carrier specified
my warning though is this if you install a i9100 release, on a i9100T you will have to flash the modem, if that does apply to you i suggest the LP6 modem
hope that helped

[Q] Flashed GB kernel on ICS device by accident

I have a Samgung Galaxy S2 i9100 from Bell, Canada.
I was trying to root it using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631934.
I accidentally flashed the GB kernel, not knowing it meant Gingerbread. I then proceeded to flash the ICS kernel, thinking it would replace the GB one, but now my phone wont boot, it just stays at the screen with the yellow triangle.
Any help on how to fix this would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Note: I have rooted my phone and installed custom ROMs before (CM7), so i have a general understanding on the matter, just I don't know how to fix it.
Try entering cwm recovery by volume up home and power. If that doesn't work do volume down home and power. Then install a ics Rom and kernel via Odin.
If you need more help ask me.

Your main issue is if you flashed any kernel from that thread you linked, you flashed a kernel meant for an I9100G. You said you have an I9100 from Bell, which probably means you either have an I9100, or an I9100M. Check the label under the battery for model number to know for sure.
I9100G firmwares and kernels are not compatible with I9100/M/P/T due to processor/SoC differences.
You want this thread instead.

Thank you guys, I managed to fix it by flashing a bootloader through odin. Now time to root it RIGHT lol. I'm going to try ctomgee's link thanks.

So did you confirm you have either an I9100 or an I9100M?
If so, stay away from I9100G firmwares/kernels/ROMs/etc.

Going back from 4.0.4 to 4.0.3

Hi guys. I am a new user in this forum and I really liked here. The question is I installed the latest official 4.0.4 for the nordic countries. I am on Tugapower 1.1 and on siyah kernel 3.4.1. I did not like 4.0.4 much and I want to go back to zeta rom 3.1. The best rom so far for me. But I saw that many user bricked their phones while trying to go back to aokp 4.0.4 or 4.0.3. I dont want to brick my phone like that. Emmc brick bug says sane chip. I am also on siyah but I am really scared to brick my phone. What can I do for a safe return to 4.0.3. Thanks in advance.
Siyah should be safe. But, for extra care, just flash a 4.0.3 Stock rom in odin and do wipe from there
I have to use 3g and no wifi avalible here. So I cannot download official 4.0.3 within a week or something. I have litening rom 3.6 tar.md5 file. It is 4.0.3. If I flash it, can it cause a brick. If siyah is totally safe, it would be perfect for me.
I wiped for 3 times in siyah when i am on 4.0.4. rom from cwm. Also I flashed a few different 4.0.4 on cwm. Nothing happened. Can 4.0.3 cause a brick. Is installing from cwm more risky than wiping.?
Roms in cwm format often do wipes in their scripts. Siyah is safe, 4.0.3 also
Thank you. In my country it is midnight and I have to sleep. I will flash zeta rom after 10 hrs. I will look at this topic when i woke up and if dont see any problem about flashing zeta rom, i will flash it and get rid of this 4.0.4 rom. Thanks again.
Finally I went back to 4.0.3 without promlem. Siyah is totally safe. I advise siyah to everyone who want to go back to 4.0.3 from 4.0.4.
4.0.3 vs 4.0.4

will 4.0.4 brake my device???!!

Hey there ^_^
first of all sorry for my English
I was want to ask about the ICS 4.0.4 for the i9100
Because somebody says that this rom may brake my device...
The problem that I have i9100g and upgraded for 4.0.4 but my friend have i9100 and I upgraded his mobile to 4.0.4 (the united kingdom rom)
so hhahahaha I would pay him if his mobile been broken later
Summary is the 4.0.4 for the i9100 will brake my device???????
Thanks ^_^
and sorry it's the first time I write a thread
It will brick your phone if you wipe data or restore nandroid backup through temporary CWM recovery, but only if you stay with 4.0.4 stock kernel (from Samsung).

If you friend doesn't ROOT his phone, he will never BRICK his phone.
However, if he wants to ROOT his phone or if his phone is already rooted, then he must flash a custom kernel e.g Siyah, speedmod, Dorimanx or dream kernel immediately

You can check if your EMMC chip can be bricked ('eMMC check' app from market) if it is known as INSANE, than it is highly possible to brick it.
But...
You will probably brick INSANE device when perform wipe in CWM recovery on stock 4.0.4 kernel.
If you use stock 3e recovery with stock kernel (even with root) or even CWM but with custom kernel with disabled CAP_ERASE function (all actual custom kernels I know) than your phone is safe.
If you are not sure:
1. Use stock firmware without any modyfications or
2. Use stock firmware with root only but stay with 3e recovery or
3. Use stock firmware with custom kernel (root and CWM included) - optimal sollution or
4. Use custom rom with custom kernel included (I'm still not sure about CF-Root kernel becouse it is almost stock kernel, I don't know there is cap_erase disabled or not - in case you want to use it with CWM) or
5. Use 4.0.3 with... anything you like (3e, CWM, root, stock, custom, dualboot...).
i9.0.1.3k galaxy imperator
YES IT WILL BREAK UR PHONE , got mine broken last week ,and just got it back from samsung yesterday and it cost me 240 € !!!
just get into download mode and flash siyah kernel.tar via odin , then downgrade to 4.0.3 , and ofcourse dont think about the word WIPEwhile on stock kernel
my phone works fine Cmiui 4.0.4 now put 4,1,1
Thank you allllllllllllllllll ^_^
really thank you
I think the best idea is to downgrade for 4.0.3 because the device is not mine
But now if I want to downgrade for 4.0.3 do I need to flash a custom kernel first??!!

1. If you want to downgrade, the best way is to flash a stock 4.0.3 firmware via Odin.
2. Alternatively, you can flash it via a pre-rooted ICS 4.0.3 firmware via CWM recovery after flashing a custom kernel
Let me know your preferred option

No. You don't need to flash a custom kernel first if you want to flash through Odin.
Just download a suitable 4.0.3 firmware, read flashing instructions, and flash through Odin

[Q] Galaxy S3 4.1.2 XXELLA HELP!

Hi guys, Im a newbie here. But i always visited xda forum for information. But the question i wanted to ask wasnt into any thread. Or i was unable to find.
My Question is: I have a stock latest 4.1.2 XXELLA ROM in my Galaxy S III, But it is Creating some issues not major but Battery is draining far more quickly than old 4.1.1. So now i wanna flash back old 4.1.1 into my SGS3. But i m aware of it that Samsung did change their bootloader in this update. Will it be safe to flash back old 4.1.1 keeping this bootloader?? Or what? Should i have to flash old bootloader aswell? (The one from 4.1.1)?? Or I Just have to simply flash back old stock 4.1.1 ROM in my SGS 3 via Odin? Thanks
