So i decided to pull the trigger with my new Galaxy S3 and install an AOSP ROM after a month of being rooted but for my disgrace no matter what ROM i install (CM10, CM9, AOKP) my data signal disappears and when I return to a TW ROM it returns so I wanted to know what am I missing or if I need to install something else for it to work

Are your APN settings correct? If not you could use an app called Tweakker its free on the market and it sends you the correct Internet settings. Worked for me every time.

Does anyone knows how to fix a lost 3G feature after installing latest ICS 4.0.3???
I've rooted my phone and installed above mentioned ROM and everything works flowlessly fine except for 3G.

I hope you means to say that You are in 3G network and the signals are not showing in 3G mode.
Please elaborate which ROM do you have. If you have LP6 the Manual Switching option is not available in the stock ROM. It tries to find out Strongest network and registers itself. Wait for Next leak from SAMMY.
If you are on any of the previous ROM you will find the Option in your Settings As mattyh77 Says .. Switch Back
I have a Samsung Galaxy SII on 3 UK network,
since installing a certain ROM i keep getting a notification every time i reboot saying:
You have lost your data connection as you have left the network with data roaming disabled.
I can re-enable the connection by going to network settings and registering on 3(3G) network.
This is very annoying as its every time i reboot and im rebooting a lot as im trying to find a ROM i like.
How do i stop this from happening?
Also how do i install cyanogenmod?
I've only been rooted 2 days so if anyone knows any good ROMs or apps or any tips for someone new to root please comment.
Its ok now

Hi,
before I start, I wanna say I have read many threads and used the search function but I still couldnt solve my problem.
I have the I9100G and I was testing different roms, like cm10, supernexus and jelly bam and always the latest versions.
My problem is, when I used mobile internet with my provider, my phone lost its APN settings from time to time. A reboot could bring up the APN settings back and I could use the internet again.
So I was installing APN backup and restore and I think it kinda helped me (also did the integration into the system with titanium backup). now the APN settings do not suddenly disappear but my phone goes into the pin code menu from time to time. from what I read I assume it is because of lost signals.
Then I tried with GetRil and I matched my basedband with RIL (XXLPV).
However, the problem is still there. Whenever I am not using 3G (e.g. internet via wi-fi), the phone is okay, but if i have 3G on for some time my phone asks for the pin code.
What I could do is of course to disable the pin code, but because of security issues i dont wanna do that and the problem wouldnt be really solved.
I would appreciate any help or idea what might cause my trouble.
Thanx
I had this all the time with JB roms, however when I changed the stock kernel to dorixmanx (currently using the 7.4 Mali version) they've stopped. Might wanna give it a try and see if it works for u?

Thanx for the info.
I couldnt find the dorixmanx but I tried another kernel like powerhorse and I also did a full wipe. But i still have the problem. now I am using my phone without pin code lock. I mite try cm9 or even go back to stock rom 4.0.4...
any helps are more than appreciated.
So today I flashed the CM 10.1 ROM which is my first AOSP rom Ive tried since I got the phone. Question is this: What is different about this rom vs a TW rom or TW stock that suddenly made my wifi issue of "unable to obtain IP" go away? Is it simply the kernel or is it a certain set of drivers that are built into the rom itself?
No longer being "unable to obtain ip" message.. Hmmm
I'm just glad I got the wifi to connect. I do miss my TW a little bit I'm really liking Carbon ROM so far. Just wish I knew what made the difference to solve the issue with connecting with my router between the two types of ROMS. I had issues connecting with both stock and synergy but zero issued with cynogen and carbon. I used to get hung up on "obtaining ip" whenever any sort of security was enabled.

I noticed that some of the wifi issues were fixed in the 6/28 nightlies onward, but I'm still having issues with CarbonROM and my wifi extender. For some reason, it'll attempt to connect, then lose the signal, and give up immediately...even if the extender is in the neighboring room. The stock TW ROM doesn't seem to have this issue, but I'm hoping the CM and Carbon Dev Teams can figure something out.
Did you ever find a solution for this? I can't connect to my work WiFi on any Touchwiz ROM, but all recent aosp Roms connect with no problem.

Hi all!
I apologize if this may have been asked elsewhere. I did perform a search but was unsuccessful in finding an answer. Since the 4.3 update in December on my stock Verizon Note 2 I am unable to use programs such as phoneinfo or 4g switch to get to the menu to switch to CDMA only. The apps instantly force close as soon as they're opened.
My 4G signal at work is terrible and switching to 3G made my phone useable, but since the 4.3 update this ability does not work.
Any help is greatly appreciated and again sorry if this may have been asked before.

I would really like to know how to do this too. Have you had any luck?

Try flashing an AOSP rom, use the toggle to turn off 4g, then install a Touchwiz rom.

Haven't tried it on 4.3 yet, but I use Advanced Signal Status from the Play Store on 4.2. Can't hurt to try.

THANK YOU! I have spent hours looking for an app capable of switching my network mode. I used to use Phone Info, but it just force closes upon opening ever since 4.3. Thanks again!
