Hello everybody
I'm trying to schedule a nandroid backup. I know it still exist onandroid but I'm out of date in busybox and I can't update it.
So, I want to find an other way. why not write a script. Then I'll just need to launch it with taskbomb.
Here is my question : could you tell me a script to reboot the phone on recovery mode and start the nandroid backup and finally reboot the phone.
You should know that my phone is an HTC Desire GSM and I use the ROM on this link

Thanks a lot in advance.
NB : sorry if there are language errors

Ok a few basic questions if someone would be so kind! :
- Can Nandroid and more specifically creating a backup image of the phone only be done *after* rooting?
- Would any backup image therefore include the rooted "state" of the phone if reapplied?
- By rooting the phone does the warranty through Orange become invalid?

1. No, it can be done before.
2. Yes reapplying a rooted image will get you root
3. Don't know!
Hi Kadison,
In which case would you be so kind as to tell me how to create a backup image without rooting / point me in the right direction for more information please?
Thanks!
Go to Modaco's site, follow the instructions to the letter and you'll then be able to boot your phone into the recovery image, and perform a nandroid backup.
The backup will be stored on your SD card and can be moved to your PC.
Awesome, thanks
Hi another question from a different newbie. If I back up using Nandroid, apply another ROM (with wipe), does Nandroid then let me restore all my apps or will it restore the whole previous ROM?

My understanding is Nandroid will restore whatever ROM it was used to generate a backup.
Thanks for that. Another noobie question though, what happens to apps I've bought etc if I flash a new ROM?
Thanks
hey im new to this forum quick question to ask sorry if its been asked before.
if i install a new rom on my x10 (same as the old one but just altered) does it delete all my texts ? if so how do i get them back when the rom is installed ?
and i made a backup of the phone through xrecovery does that backup texts also ?
thanks
IF you make a backup with xrecovery, when/if you restore the backup, it will be EXACTLY like it was when you made the backup, right down to the text messages you had... It is a total mirror image.
In order to keep them when flashing new roms, you can use titanium backup and backup/restore the app + data, or when you flash a new rom you can restore just the data partition from a previous rom in xrecovery as well...
thankyou !
Hello,Im about to install JIT on my xperia x10 2.1 eclair and I wanted to read some recomendations before doing it like backups and wich programs to use for this.
I already created xrecovery backup just in case but I want to know wich other ways are there to restore my phone in case xrecovery doesnt work.
Also I would like to know if after installing JIT im going to lose any information on my phone or rights i.e( root access, aplications, apn conections)
Thanks a lot for the help.
You will not lose anything but do a nandroid (xRecovery) backup just in case you have screwed up.
Is there any specific way of creating nandroid backup ? I just chose the backup option on the backup/restore menu on xrecovery and it created a backup on my sdcard
Bump, anyone that can answer about this ?
Cause Ive searched and every post Ive found explains how to create nandroid backup with other apps instead of xrecovery, dont know if I created a nandroid backup just by clicking backup.
what I did was, boot on recovery mode, select backup and restore menu, inside it I just clicked backup.
I really need to know if this created a nandroid backup or just backed up my apps , contacts and photos.
thanks in advance

Hey XDA,
I'm trying to backup my current ROM thru CWM Recovery and I get different errors from time to time: error backing up (either) /data, /sdcard/.android_secure or boot image.
How can I fix this? I need to backup to change ROMs
Thanks
I'm gonna bump this since it has had virtually NO attention and I'm in need of help
installl titanium backup for apps backup and mybackup root for sms, call logs
then change the rom and restore all apps + sms,logs,etc...
Flash another root and CWM kernel .

i am encountering a problem using nandroid backup! i changed my rom from stock to jasp next level! i make regular backups and on doing so in jasp i realised that the boot and recovery images are missing from my nandroid backup! it says install a patch file for a complete nandroid! the backup gets completed but i'm worried about the missing files! can anyone tell me about the use of those files and if they are important then how caan i restore them? will they cause a problem when i'll try to restore my nandroid backup? is this normal after changing to a custom rom from stock? please help me as i'm new to all of this!!
