Hello!
So... Are there any cool bootanimations remade for our Note II's? Like... Galaxy Nexus Bootanimation, or Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean bootanimation, or Nexus 7 bootanimation or (sic, many or!) some other cool thing like that?
If there is, and I overlooked it, then sorry!
Here's the jelly bean bootanimation.

Also, this app by JRummy should keep you happy for a while too. There are a ton of different boot animations to choose from.

I haven't tried changing the boot animation on a Note II. Is there an special way to do it? I just tried via Rom Toolbox but that didn't work.
Honestly, I haven't tried either but I expect its just a matter of finding the location of the stock one, (backing it up) and replacing it with the new one using a root explorer. That's the method I generally used with previous phones.

That doesn't replace it with another bootanimation. That just removes the "Samsung" word that appears for about 10-15 secs.

Boot animations must be placed in /system/media and the file must be named bootanimation.zip
Just copy/paste the bootanimation.zip to /system/media using ES File Explorer (make sure Root Explorer is enabled).

What boot animation are you getting on startup? Make sure you delete the existing one(if there is one).

I rename the original to OGbootanimation.zip then I copy the new on into the folder. That way I can delete the experimental file and name the original back if the experimental file won't work. It saves a few steps.
Make sure you're moving the zip file and don't extract it or use CWM on it.
Hm, is it boot animation.zip or sanim.zip?
Have you tried searching the Seraphim thread?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927 using xda premium
Like others have said, you just need to rename the zip to bootanimation.zip and place it in your system/media folder using ES File Explorer (what I use) or Root Explorer. Then reboot and wallah.
It's never not worked for me. I'm currently running Unofficial CM9, and I replaced the Cyanogen boot with the Galaxy Nexus ICS boot animation, to keep Android tasting Vanilla...
Make sure the permissions are rw-r--r--

make sure u have the correct kernal that allows bootanimation, another is to unzip it and rezip as store, there should not be any compression with a bootanimation.zip., if u want to upload it, i will test it.
i have an 3.0.8-perf-i717uclc5-cl281649 kernel and how can i upload the bootanimation.zip so you can test it??

This is a guide that I do not remember being posted anywhere, but if it has been, mods feel free to remove
This is for Stock based touchwiz roms ONLY where the dev hasn't added a custom bootanimation, and instead the stock ATT globe animation (which is a .qmg file instead of a zip ) is present. CM, PA, or AOKP roms do not need this, as you can just replace the bootanimation.zip file in /system/media for them.
First off special credit goes to Androidmechanic for pointing me in the direction of the thread to do so located HERE
The thread has some pretty clear instructions, but apparently some people still had problems with getting it to work, so here's what I did:
1.) Download Busybox from the playstore, open up the app and follow the instructions to install it. Even if you already have busybox from a previous time, a clean install of a fresh one will make this process work.
2.) Download the Bootanimation4u.zip AND Bootanimationzip4u.Samsungani.Only.zip from the thread linked above.
3.) Reboot into recovery and flash the Bootanimation4u.Samsungani.Only.zip FIRST, then flash Bootanimation4u.zip (I'm not sure if it is needed to flash both, but this is what I did to get it working.
4.) Reboot. Then paste any existing Bootanimation.zip files that you may have into /system/media through use of a root browser (ES File explorer, Root Browser, etc)
OR
if you don't have any bootanimation.zip files handy
you can download Boot Animation from the playstore and download and install from a PLETHORA of bootanimations. If you choose to do this follow these instructions, courtesy of XDA user ReelFiles
- install Boot Animations Root from the Play Store.
- Go into the app's preferences and change install location to /system/media/ and leave the default filename (bootanimation.zip) and go back to the main screen.
-. Select any bootanimation from the Server tab and hit Install. (Tablet ones at the bottom of the list look best.)
- Select the installed bootanimation again and hit Resize. Set it to 800x1280 30FPS.
-Tap the options key and select "Preview current" Make sure you like it and reboot.
You don't have to delete the .qmg files that Samsung uses for their bootanimation for this to work, but if for some reason this doesn't work for you, try deleting them and see what happens
Once done your bootanimation should be set! Happy Flashing!

Shutdown animation is located system/media/video/shutdown. There is a shutdown.qmg file. I replaced mine with the stock intl' Samsung shutdown qmg file. Looks much better.
I have a request to make.I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 running Lollipop 5.0.1 and i tried and flashed the file but nothing happened, but the reason is probably becouse i tried this method first ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ection-how-t1897969/post31833122#post31833122 ) and made a mess of things. Now i see only the Samsung GS4 inscription and the blank screen until the device boots up.I want to switch back to the default boot animation but i can't seem to get it back no matter what i try and i no longer have my system/bin folder bckp.If you can point me to where i can download one or you have it and can shre it with me i'll be immensely grateful.
I've a Samsung S3 I9300 with Android 4.4.4: this method works with my device?
And is there a collection of bootanimation here on XDA?
Thanks
anyone know how to go back to using qmg files?
I haven't seen anyone mention of it yet. Does anyone know how to get custom boot animations in the bootanimation.zip format working? I've already tried all posted fixes for other Samsung note devices with no success. Best I've gotten was a blank screen during boot. Any suggestions?

There a few custom bootanimation threads - I believe you need a .bin file from one of these and you should be able to use it for other .zip files...
Look for lion king bootanimation in this forum, you might need to go back a little while though....

furst make sure busybox is installed correctly on you're device.
then flash: bootanimationON
download here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxH_2Mr6REVjRnU0ME5xd3V4S2s/edit?usp=sharing
this will make a backup from you're system/bin/bootanimation and make a bootanimation.bak file
and replace with mod bootanimation file to use bootanimation.zip
this is to restore: to go back to standard qmg
download here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxH_2Mr6REVjdFlGSFF0bVVmXzA/edit?usp=sharing
you also need you're bootanimation.zip you want to use
this zip needs to be placed in system/media.
"AFTER" you put this bootanimation.zip in system/media "THEN" flash bootanimationON
works 100.1% sure
enjoy
Ill give it a shot later. I tried the files for the note 3 without success.
Update- thanks for the file. Works great. Custom animation worked immediately after flashing.

Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting here so hello to everyone!
I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S5 after having iPhones for years and I haven't stopped using it since. I was looking into boot animations and I saw all the BIOS boot animations but realized that no one had created one for the Galaxy S5 yet. Because of that I made one myself specifically for the Samsung Galaxy S5 meaning that all the files are in the QMG format and not the typical bootanimation.zip style. Attached to this post are two zip archives containing the animation file. Both attachments are the same animation but one runs at 18FPS while the other runs at 22FPS. This way in-case your phone boots slower or faster than mine there will be time to completely finish the animation.
I also have it rendered at all different framerates from 5 to 60 so if you need it somewhere else let me know.
Let me know what you think as I plan on making a more unique animation in the future!
How to Install (Device Must be Rooted):
1.Download bootsamsung.qmg file to device
2. Go to system/media
3. Rename the existing bootsamsung.qmg to bootsamsungOld.qmg or something else (do not delete)
4. Rename bootsamsungloop.qmg to bootsamsungloopOld.qmg or something else (carrier animation, can delete if do not want)
5. Place the bootsamsung.qmg file you downloaded into here
6. Change the permissions of the bootsamsung.qmg file to: Owner: read, write Group: read Others: read
7. Reboot your phone and see if it works!
Since I am a new user I can't put images or a video preview here due to them being external links.
Below in attachments along with the animation files there will also be another zip archive containing a GIF preview and two pictures.
***EDIT***
Also in the attached files you will find bootanimation.zip which is the animation files for phones that dont use the Samsung .QMG file format. Note that it is still at 1080x1920 in terms of resolution and will play at 18FPS until you modify the desc.txt
Thanks, PDrizzly
Can I have one in ".zip" format please? The GS5 ROM I am using (MOAR ROM on Sprint GS5) has custom bootanimation support and uses .zip files for bootanimation!

hi i would appreciate how you done it? tutorial on how to make bootanimation for s5 ..
cheers,
Geef
I am having trouble getting this to work on AllianceRom. The animation stops at the 12th picture and it just freezes there until the boot cycle completes. After applying the boot animation I can look into the zip archive and every png file from number 13 on is 0kb in size.
Just for some more information I have tried applying the boot animation by flashing via Rom Manager, using Rom Toolbox (Boot Animations), and by manually placing the bootanimation.zip in the system\media directory. When I manually place the zip file in (and adjust permissions), the boot screen is just black. Nothing shows up. Every other boot animation I have tried seems to work just fine. This is the only one giving me trouble.
Any advice?
Thank you.

I swear I'm not just trying to be ignorant or beat you up here by saying this, but I just thought it was kind of funny because you basically just asked a question and then answered yourself all in one sentence. Anyway to answer your question (again lol) though, yes you do need to have root in order to do this because without it the directory where the files need to be pasted will be "read only", and you will not the have the access needed in order to change it. Hope it helps [emoji106].
